Such a crappy experience but an eye opening one....So there I was trying to help MY mother and this swarm of non speaking people were buzzing around me.For some reason, the minute I walked in there was tension in the room. I'll never know if my brother had warned them of me...of what I'm not sure, but I have an inkling that it could of been about my Chinese medicine.I'll never know, because I never intend to see those people again. So there I was, looking at my mother's tongue, taking her pulse, getting ready to do some mild acupuncture. I was also going to suggest that we get her back to the hospital because it was apparent she was very ill.In the state of California, an acupuncturist is considered a primary care giver, so we have to refer to acute care if the situation merits it. In this Spring season, more than in seasons past, I’ve been seeing an incredible lot of wild cucumber flowering along my favorite Bay Area trails. The wild cucumber, Latin name Marah macrocarpus, is a member of the Cucurbitaceae, or gourd family. It is quite a pretty vine when it flowers, and does bear resemblance to most garden-variety cucumber plants. [...]

And you think it's so cute to hear your four year old little boy say tea cup so you buy one... DON'T DO IT!!! These cups DO NOT OPEN. It took me 30 minutes to pry it open so I could put "tea" in it... and now I can't even pry it open again. Meanwhile, my cute little four year old is very upset that he can't have more "tea" in his tea cup.The adorableness of this cup is not worth the pain in my hands and arms from trying over and over to get it open. You've been warned!
You can now buy a commercial genetic test that claims to assess your risk of developing bipolar disorder. Genetic tests for major depression and schizophrenia are also expected to reach the market soon. However, although the suspects are numerous, the genes responsible for most brain disorders remain unknown. So, when it comes to commercial genetic tests, we just don't know enough to make the tests useful, reports the May issue of the Harvard Mental Health Letter. One problem is that the genetics field is advancing so rapidly that it's hard to keep up with developments, never mind figure out which ones are clinically relevant. Most experts also believe that psychiatric disorders develop because of the interplay between multiple genes, each exerting small effects. That makes finding the res

Millions of people across the world are facing hunger and starvation due to the current food crisis. According to experts, the crisis will continue as long as those who dominate the international grain markets remain unwilling to change their behavior. As food supplies are diminishing, for instance, the government released measures to increase the use of biofuels -- a policy that will further increase food prices. Biofuels are taking food out of the mouths of starving people and diverting them to be burned as fuel in the car engines of the world’s rich consumers.

I recently received an email from the IRS as shown in the screen shot below. Do you think it looks real? I did and for a minute I was about to do as it instructed - provide my social security and bank account details. Then I thought why would the IRS be asking me to do this if I had already provided it in my tax return. Luckily I took the time to check the real IRS website, and found that this "phishing" email is part of a far reaching identity theft scam to get your personal financial information. Here is what the official IRS website has to say about itAn e-mail claiming to come from the IRS about the "2008 Economic Stimulus Refund" tells recipients to click on a link to fill out a form, apparently for direct deposit of the payment into their bank account. It's very hard to differentiate counterfeit products or imitation sometimes. Especially when we are dealing online because we might not able to inspect the items. Once we received the item, it might be too late to realize it. So it's very important to read the item description clearly. If there is any doubt, you can always email or contact the seller.Items such as fake, look alike, replica, AAA, fraud etc. can be found in the market easily. As a matter of fact, these fake products are sold in the black market for cheaper price than posted online sometimes. Educating online buyers can create awareness of this matter. This scenario will tarnish local online shopping website and auction/selling site reputation. In Malaysia, it is not easy to stop and curb all these fake, look alike, replica, A

Hope and doubt are at war today as we pore over this picture of a literal crotch rocket. On the one hand, it looks pretty legit, right down to the stabilizing fins, exhaust port for the motorcycle housed within, and blast marks that are no doubt from one of the many instances where this beast dumped out while breaking the sound barrier. On the other hand, the kids and their Photoshoppin' these days means everything online is suspect (isn't that right, Steve?). Perhaps most damning of all, however, is the fact that the only creature capable of conceiving such a bike is nowhere to be found. Wile E. I picked up this curiosity (published by the Huntington Library Press, ISBN: 0-87328-154-3) in the bookshop of the British Library. It is subtitled 'The first English novel', with an introduction to explain why and also lay out some of the historical context for the work. The scholars who have prepared this book for publication (William A Ringler Jr and Michael Flachmann) trace the works that precede this to firmly and convincingly stake Beware the Cat's claim as the first real novel in English:'Until William Baldwin's Beware The Cat, written in the first half of 1553, we can find no original work of English fiction of more than short-story length in which we see consistent character portaryal and a sequence of events that form a coherent plot.'Having read it, it certainly does have these

One good outcome from the Kimkins disaster is that a lot of people have gotten much more discerning about things they read. Is the material education or manipulation? Is it the truth? It is created by the accused fraud, Heidi Diaz of Kimkins fame. I started to do a phrase by phrase commentary but it got too ugly and snarky for me. BusinessWeek has an interesting story about Toxic Stocks: Beware These 'Toxic' Stocks Bullish noises for the market abound. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke makes it clear that he's prepared to pull out all the stops to prevent economic collapse, and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is talking up broad investor-friendly reforms for market regulators. And, while still behind the fiscal curve, Congress is finally recognizing that emergency measures are needed to help alleviate homeowners' pain and to help prevent a financial catastrophe. With the close of a dismal first quarter, there hangs a faint whiff of optimism in the air over Wall Street. But a warning to investors ready to plunge into the market: Beware of land mines. SEO Over-optimization can occur when an SEO simply tries to hard to improve SERPS. When you're constantly building links, constantly revising content and code, you throw up red flags to the search engines. Remember that there algorithm programmers are an army of Ph.D.s who are pretty clever in their ways. Any SEO that appears to be a little too artificial or forced can cause negative repercussions in terms of Page Rank, authority score, trust score and SERP. Best practice SEO means that you building the credibility and value of a site by an organic progress, not an artificial one. The more natural, or organic, your website growth and promotion is, the better chance you stand of getting the best SERPs.In light of this, it's good sometimes to just take a "chill" from SEO work sometimes. An article on Marketwatch.com (see link below) states, "Arthur Weiss turns to four flat-panel computer monitors in his spacious San Francisco office. The screen on the far left shows a watch-list of troubled companies. He points to each name, running briskly down the page. "This one is bankrupt. So are these four," he says. "This one is filing for bankruptcy soon. This one may avoid it, this one probably won't."

Sony began experimenting in November 2005 with new Digital Rights Management (DRM) software on their music CDs. While created to prevent pirating of the music they sell, the software appears to have unintended negative consequences for those whose computers it is installed in. Sony installs a system-level application that effectively hides all file names from the user with specific filenames. These files are still present on the system and can be run normally, however any mention of their presence on the system is hidden from the user. This could allow authors of malicious software to use Sony's DRM software to hide their trojan horses on your computer.Disable Autorun on your Windows PC. This way the software cannot be automatically loaded onto your computer when you insert a Sony DRM ena

When it comes to diamonds, there are numerous scams to avoid. Most scams are minor, but there are some major ones that come up from time to time concerning the buying and selling of diamonds. Scams occur simply because most people who buy diamonds – for whatever reasons – don’t know that much about diamonds. Therefore, they are easily fooled. A common scam that most jewelry stores participate in is the Carat Total Weight scam. The tag on the piece of jewelry, usually a ring, only states the total carat weight of all diamonds in the piece, instead of listing the total weights separately for each diamond. This leads consumers to believe that the main diamond in the piece is actually bigger than it is. Ask what the total carat weight of the center stone is. Also beware of fractions. Jew
