Mt. Bethel hosts hope4christmas® party for Camp Hope®
On Saturday, December 15th, Mt. Bethel hosted over 300 for the annual hope4christmas® party. For the first time this year, campers' parents were invited to attend so they had the opportunity to meet the staff and counselors of Camp Hope®. It was a wonderful time of fellowship for the campers and counselors - it brought such joy to see them reunite with hugs and high-fives. The party included a delicious pancake breakfast that was later topped off with sugar cookies for the campers to decorate! Each table was festively decorated by the 5th grade classes of Mt. Bethel Christian Academy. Everyone had a great time writing Christmas cards that would be sent to soldiers in Iraq and singing Christmas carols. Rev. Diane Parrish led the group in the "Twelve Days of Christmas" She invited campers and adults to come on stage to sing. The party concluded with campers receiving a Christmas present, a devotional book written by the 5th graders of MBCA, and a CD with pictures from C

Erin Church Devotional: Making a Bethel (House of God) in our Hearts
Genesis 28:19 He called that place Bethel, though the city used to be called Luz.I’ve always loved the story of Jacob because he is just so human. He tricks his brother and father. He ends up being a fugitive. He outsmarts his father-in-law and ends up becoming one of the most important people in the Bible. I guess if Jacob were alive today, he would either be the most successful broker on Wall Street, or even the front runner in a presidential campaign! In this part of his life, he is fleeing the wrath of his brother. Jacob doesn’t want to be killed, so he high-tails it out of town and runs away as fast as he can. When he eventually stops to rest, he has nowhere to stay but out in the open. And using a stone as a pillow does not sound as though he was in cozy surroundings. In the midst of all his anxiety, Jacob receives a glorious vision from God. This assures him that God is with Jacob, and that he shall overcome his troubles. Fear is replaced with faith; he

What is Mt. Bethel All About?
No doubt, there are many ways to answer that question. Some people ask that question wanting to know the physical features of Mt. Bethel. How many acres? 46. How many square feet? 235,000. How many employees? 172 full-time, 202 part-time. How many members? 8,600. What’s the budget? Operating budget is $10 million, debt from buildings is $11 million. How is the budget spent? 16% debt service; missions & local ministries 34%; staffing 50%. How is the budget funded? Individuals tithing or giving (they aren’t the same thing). How many people give? Out of 2,557 giving units, 2,339 give. Mt. Bethel is all of that, but so much more! We are an outwardly-focused church and that is a big reason Mt. Bethel is effective. This outward focus has produced a caring church that reaches out for children through a Day Care Ministry, Preschool Ministry, Elementary and Middle High Ministry through the Mt. Bethel Christian Academy. The Older Adult Center cares for the parents and grandparents in t

      Texans sign Bethel Johnson
The Texans signed former Texas A&M wide receiver Bethel Johnson to a one-year, $650,000 deal Monday and will probably try to make the roster as a kick returner. [full article] <<<hotwire>>> Very little fantasy impact here. As mentioned, Johnson’s best season as a receiver included 209 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in his rookie season.

      Bethel Johnson NOT cut?
The Eagles cut Bethel Johnson. Or did they? As I was checking out the new look of the Eagles website, I noticed something very strange. Bethel Johnson's profile still appeared on the active roster. Many published reports have said that Johnson was released. I even reported the same news on this blog. So why would he still be on the home page? I thought it could have just been an error, since they are re-doing their entire site, but then after further investigation, I think people may have jumped the gun on this one.According to the Eagles new re-designed website, Bethel Johnson is still on the active roster, he is listed as the first string kick returner on the depth chart, and there is no mention of him being axed on the transactions page.Looks like those reports were premature. I wonder why this has not been clarified yet? You would think that the Eagles would have made an announcement by now? So who is right? The Eagles site, or the Trenton Times? Was I in a coma for a few days, an

      Bethel Johnson Cut
Eagles B. Johnson cutAdam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Bethel Johnson has been released from the team after failing his physical.*Well as speculated before, the stress fracture was a bad break for Bethel. You can't earn a roster spot when injured. The news that Jeremy Bloom has looked great, also hurt his case. I'm willing to bet he will get picked up by somebody after some injuries before the season starts.

      Adele Bethel And Scottish Accents
And on today's show we have...The Repulsion BoxSons And DaughtersAdele Bethel could well have been a waitress at some small pub in Glasgow where they served drinks at night with a round of community singing around a piano and a guitar. It's really that simple with Sons and Daughters, like the songs on The Repulsion Box wrote themselves after a particularly good night at Smith's Beer and Chips.Their inherent folk-iness (or beer buzz as I'd like to believe) sets them apart from a tonne of other Scottish bands who're trying too hard to be Britpop, 10 years too late. Scott Paterson (second vocals) adds a bonus range to their songs that would've been good enough if it was just Bethel singing. And the unavoidably catchy thump, thump, thump is just irresistible. They had me at just Bethel's divine Scottish accent. And it's just the same when she lets out this mirror-shattering screech like on Gone. There's a certain predictability to what they do after the first few songs but that's
