I placed 2nd in yesterday's night Betfair Poker tournament and won 168$. Not much I hear you say and I admit it wasn't an impressive figure. However, it is always a pleasure to compete with other Greek Poker players even if the prize pool isn't going to make any difference. Loose atmosphere, friendly talks although it gets rough from time to time since we Greeks have a big mouth occasionally. The tournament was the 2nd out of 4 which are organized by Betfair Poker every Monday titled: Greek $500 Guaranteed Tournament.

Today I have once again recorded a trading session of mine. Leicester was the racecourse and I traded the favorite of the 13.10 race which was Earlsfield Raider. I used the Bet Angel Professional trading platform designed for Betfair and I completed my trading activity 30 seconds before the off. I mainly targeted small movements and looked for just a few ticks per trade, which they all added up to a healthy profit. Enjoy the video!
Since I'm not performing well at poker, I thought to give the whole sports trading thing another go. So, I traded yesterday the UK Horse Racing markets for about 2 hours and made around EUR 90. That is nowhere near my last year's performance and I'm certain there are other betfair traders making ten times that amount. However, I'm still satisfied with the result for the time being and given 2007 hasn't treated me so nicely, I'll be happy to make that money on a steady daily basis.

Yesterday Betfair announced that it would be raising it's commission rates. For those that don't know, here's an explaination of their rate system.. This, predictably, hasn't gone down too well amongst the customers, myself included - nobody likes a price hike do they ?
Taking a look at the new pricing structure, it would appear on average that most people are 6-8% worse off. Personally I'm probably between 3 and 5%, having worked my way over the 100,000 commission points fairly regularly, they've been fairly lenient at this far end of the scale compared to the majority of the core user base.
I had a lengthy call with my premium account manager earlier today about the increases. He was in a fairly stressed mood, they are all run off their feet replying to and calling customers about the increase. There was some interesting stuff to come out of the call.

It has been a few months since the last time we checked on Gordon’s prospects in the Betfair markets, so lets see how he’s doing now. Then we will gauge reaction to his Budget speech in a few weeks time by checking on the odds again afterwards.
In the “Next Labour Leader” market, we can see that Gordon’s odds are now 1.29, significantly shorter than September’s odds of 1.45. Things are starting to shake out in the leadership race, and it is also a lot clearer now that Blair is likely to stand down soon, so Brown has less time to make any “cock ups” and therefore a better chance of winning. There are, however, two more interesting things to note in the market. Firstly the odds of Brown’s nearest challenger David Milliband have come in significantly to only 11.0.
