I am noticing something that the media in the west and east are ignoring the economic factor in the Lebanese issue.people do not understand that the majority of Shiites in Lebanon are from the Blue collar working classes whether from the farmers or from the labours. The last economic decisions to raise the price of fuel and diesel in Lebanon just like another Egypt made this class extremely angry especially their wages were the same ,even after the very fast small raise the cabinet had decided from two days before the protests. The Cabinet decided to raise the minimum wages to become $US 500 , useless raise in front of continuous rising prices. I think no one imagined things would be go this route in Beirut ,in today's labour strike and protest except of course who planned to make this way . I mean it is a decision taken in the moment to bring your weapons and start attacking the others in the protests or strike just like this , especially when it involves guns,rifles,Molotov and RBG !!No to mention the army presence !! The sleeper hit of 2006, Beirut's Gulag Orkestar came out of nowhere to sell tens of thousands of copies in a matter of months and wound up on countless critics' year-end lists. As a stopgap before recording a new full-length in Fall 2007 -- and as a way to capture some current songs being performed at shows -- the eight-member band checked into Sea Side Studios in Brooklyn to record Lon Gisland.These are the first studio recordings made by the entire group, and a sampling of the most recent songs by orkestar leader Zach Condon. Lon Gisland features four new tunes and a full band reworking of Gulag's "Scenic World." The five-song EP was initially released with the European edition of Gulag Orkestar.

I do not know why I remember the Lebanese film "West Beirut" when I saw the breaking news about the huge blast in the "East Beirut" area where a MP from the "Phalanges" was killed among other people A huge blast rocked the vital area which is a populated Christian area in Beirut ,I could not believe the damage size they showed in TV whether from the cars or the buildings The victim that time is the MP of Phalanges Maronite Antoine Ghanem,who was badly injured and died in the way to a hospital near by the area , already I do not know how he could live after that blast if he was its target in the first place , if the windows and buildings were shattered and other neighborhood heard the blast miles away!!! BEIRUT, Lebanon — Students for and against the government hurled rocks and furniture at each other Thursday as Lebanon's power struggle turned violent on a university campus and spilled onto nearby streets.
Four people, two of them students, were killed, according to Arab media outlets.
Hezbollah's Al-Manar television said one of the militant group's supporters was killed, but security officials could not immediately confirm the death. Security officials said at least 17 people were injured. Other TV stations reported that about 25 people were hurt.
