Just when you thought the stock market was ready to blow-up... BOOM! ...it rallies. It's a shortened trading day. It's a light trading day. It's a holiday. If the thoughts of BBQ, beer, and fireworks can't stoke the animal sprits of the market, then nothing will.Let's take a look at the indicators I've been following in trying to answer the question: How Low Will the Market Go?Since
July 1 is the first day NBA teams can begin free agent talks, and this year is a huge year as far as possibilities go. The free agency market is loaded, and some of the biggest names have already opted out of their contracts: Elton Brand, Baron Davis, and Corey Maggette. Coincidentally, the two L.A. Clippers may have a reason to stay, as it is being heavily reported right this minute that Baron

Negotiations have begun with the kidnappers of a prominent television journalist and her crew on the southern Philippine island of Jolo, Sulu. Suspected Muslim extremists Sunday seized Ces Drilon, a senior anchorwoman of ABS-CBN broadcast network, her two TV crewmen and a Muslim academic accompanying them. They said there would be a great possibility that the journalist would be freed, but would

According to manager Joe Girardi the process of transitioning Joba Chamberlain from reliever to starter has begun.Girardi also stated that the Joba will stay with the Yankees, so the transition will most likely not be done in the minors, which is very good news to this blogger. I always thought the idea of sending him down to "stretch him out" was stupid and could be done on the major league level

However, at the time, they, being he pundits, thought that the race would be over, before anything like this could manifest itself. Of course, this is the type of identity politics that Democrat Party is infamous for. Now that
The desire for pictures of ruins, real or imaginary, and for scenes drawn from Roman history increased steadily in the eighteenth century, keeping pace with a romantic interest in the ancient world. Excavations at Herculaneum, begun in 1738, and at Pompeii, in 1748, roused both scholarly and popular enthusiasm throughout the western world and were followed by the beginning of scientific archaeolog

Being burnt alive, Dwi was wounded severely, and his family even couldn't accept the fact that Dwi was not the same Dwi as before...Dwi happened to have intention to commit suicide because he couldn't accept this bitter fact. He kept asking WHY.. WHY.. WHY... to himself... to God... Ibet's love gave him strength, she kept on encouraging him and promised him to be there for him. Though she had to take 5 hours journey to the hospital, she always came and took care of him. Change the bandage was so painful. That burnt skin got blistered and usually the ski

Despite a stern warning from mama Sharmila Tagore, Saif Ali Khan has begun smoking again. We saw Chhote Nawab light up on Wednesday evening, outside Film City’s Studio 8, only months after he was in hospital for what was reported as a heart attack triggered, at least in part, by his smoking. Saif was kept company by Salman Khan and his girlfriend Katrina Kaif.Salman and Kareena are starring in Main Aur Mrs Khanna, and presumably their respective beaus came over to hang with them. Salman, whose face is looking quite chubby these days, was also puffing on a cigarette while lover Katrina played a more domestic role: she kept mosquitoes away from the men by flailing at them with an electric swatter. All were in casual dress: Saif in blue jeans and brown t-shirt, Katrina in black track bottoms

Writing on the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, Patrick Cockburn bluntly stated: “It has been a war of lies from the start. Darren and I have started our 2nd season of podcasts! This season we plan on increasing the number of guests on our show from both here in the United States and outside the country! I’ve also added a flash player in the left sidebar of mustech.net so that you can quickly listen to any episode of our show. In addition, I will continue to refine ways to get the “word out” about our show and make access to it easier.
Darren and I do not keep a “release” schedule like our good friend Keith Mason who puts out his great podcasts on the 1st and 15th of each month. We usually do two per month and they are posted as soon as we have the time to get them up… at some point we might actually get it on a real schedule. No promises!

My last good nights’ sleep was back in February of 1990. That was before I found out that I was pregnant with my first child-a daughter who is now 17 and preparing to go away to college in the fall of this year.
Since finding out I was pregnant 17 years ago, my sleep has been interrupted on a regualr basis. First it was worry and concern over having a healthy baby and once she was here it was worry about if I had what it would take to be a “good” mother. Over the years while the worries have changed, the interrupted and sometimes sleepless nights have stayed the same.
Looking at a sea of red ink in today's stock index changes after the Federal Reserve's biggest interest rate cut by 75 basis points in 24 years it appears the Fed is massively behind the curve. As only the combination of a US holiday and this rate cut had helped to prevent a crash on Monday and Tuesday this shows that investors worldwide highly doubt that the $140 billion stimulus package will help the USA to move out of the eye of the storm. While traders normally love to greet such news with a relief rally, the sudden fizzle of yesterday's upward move signals IMHO that the over-leveraged investing community has finally recognized what these mega-billion injections really are: New layers of debt.I have lost track of all special infusions since August. But I remember a few key events:In Au

Yesterday, I went to report to Clementi ITE for the interview. Jingkun did great help to assist me and guide me around. The department heads were super nice people. During the interview with Mr Peh, he was stricter than usual and that was admiring.I followed Jingkun to his lessons and learnt how he conducted his classes. Later, Mingfa came to pick me up and drove me to the Clementi Posbank, where I got my Giro form stamped. While waiting at the car park for Mingfa to pick Weitat up, a fortune-teller approached me and luckily they came back in time. We went back to Clementi ITE to pick Jingkun up and Mingfa treated us to late lunch nearby. Together, we went back to the ITE. Since I did not bring along my sports gears, I stayed for a while to watch Mingfa and Weitat conduct training and left home together with Jingkun after a while.I had problems sleeping at night again. I slept for less than four hours again. It was nice to meet the friendly cleaner at the door who offered to open the d
GMC v SOUTHALL - THE WAR IS ABOUT TO BEGIN Dr David Southall was struck off today. Well, now his harassers can go away and lead their empty little lives. Southall will be back to fight the GMC at an appeal in the High Court. Well done to Southall who is clearly a fighter and one who stands by his principles. The verdict was made by a trivial regulatory body. It was a mere formality as no one expected the GMC to rule any differently. Abusers don't rule differently after all. The GMC should be shut down. We all know that. I certainly don't recognise the GMC's competence to make a judgment on this case. Then I have never recognised the GMC's authority. You would think they could strike a doctor off on some decent allegations but unfortunately they have never been able to do so. While the msbp campaign group can crow in victory - the appeal will wipe the smile off their faces soon enough much like it did for Roy Meadow. Temporary victories never remain in history. As for Scientology aw
Teddy bear woes? Thoughts from Economist.com with a couple of my own interjected for better measure:
FOR anyone who is labouring to improve Christian-Muslim relations, or stop civilisations clashing, it is a painful setback: a well-intentioned Western woman who has volunteered her services as a teacher in a land stricken by conflict and poverty, only to find herself denounced by a local colleague and incarcerated in horrible conditions.
Gillian Gibbons, a 54-year-old teacher from Liverpool, was sentenced on Thursday November 29th to 15 days in prison for “insulting religion”, after allowing her pupils at a school in Khartoum, Sudan’s capital, to name a teddy bear Muhammad. She had invited a seven-year-old girl to bring in her teddy and then encouraged the class to vote on a name for the toy.
When the story broke in the British press this week, it was widely reported that she might face up to 40 lashes, or six months in jail, if she were found guilty on all three of the charg
Earlier today, The Globe And Mail (Canada) reported that a major U.S. banking crisis is underway. Myles Zyblock, chief institutional strategist at RBC Dominion Securities Inc. (owned by Royal Bank of Canada), said that problems with the U.S. housing market have spilled over into the financial sector, setting off the third major banking crisis in the United States since the Great Depression. While Zyblock said he didn’t expect bank failures to be the “main problem” this time around, he wouldn’t discount the possibility “of a few sinking ships.”
According to The Globe And Mail:
In arguing his point about the likelihood of a major banking crisis, Mr. Zyblock trots out some disturbing statistics on the U.S. housing market and the fallout on the financials. He noted, for example, that more than 20 per cent of the value of U.S. mortgage loans made in 2005 and 2006 is linked directly to subprime situations, and another 19 per cent is linked to alt-A loan situations. Both are types
Yes, its now official all non-Japanese nationals or persons with special privileges and permission inside of or visiting Japan are all suspected terrorists. I've never been off this beautiful tropical island rock called Jamaica, not because I couldn't but because I refuse to travel to another persons country and feel like a second rate human and the visa and paperwork requirements were too much for me and I couldn't be bothered. I am having trouble swallowing the terrorism prevention measure excuse been offered up by Japan and my plans for visiting Japan just got more complicated. I have nothing to fear and to the best of my knowledge I am not a terrorist but if this is not discrimination I don't know what is and if I were a terrorist Japan would be extra attractive right now, can you imagine the publicity bomb the first terrorist attack in japan after these new rules are implemented will get now?

Jingle bells... jingle bells... jingle all the way... One night before he slept, Cliff surprised me by uttering,"jingle ben...jingle ben... jingle ben.. jingle ben..." I asked him where he learned the song to find out what language the Jingle Bells song he've heard. I wanted to sing the whole song for him so he could learn to sing it. Actually Cliff didn't know where he heard this song at all... :-) But we know, the Christmas Season has begun! For those who celebrate Christmas, soon we will decorate Christmas tree, arrange some Christmas decorations such as christmas candles, christmas stockings, ornaments and gifts!Almost every Christmas I have a tight schedule of drama rehearsals. This time we make a musical drama and I perform as a lady from India... acha..acha..acha.... :-)
Jesus and the defenders of Christmas are searching the advertisements for anti-Christian words like "holiday." Here is a letter in today's Elizabethton Star:Editor: I have looked with much interest at the advertisements for Christmas this year. There are some companies who refuse to list in their ads any reference to Christmas; using Family and Holiday instead. When there is no reference to Christ or Christmas, these companies are telling us they do not believe in honoring Christ's birth. We as consumers should not purchase Christmas gifts in their store. There can be no Holiday without Christ, therefore, no gift purchase. Please personally check each advertisement. That's right, Carter County, merchants. That includes you, Wal-Mart! No Christ, No Sale. You be messin' with this dude. Thanks, Monkey!

Joe Lieberman has been against the war from the beginning, but this is still a very damning statement against his former party:
No Democratic presidential primary candidate today speaks of America's moral or strategic responsibility to stand with the Iraqi people against the totalitarian forces of radical Islam, or of the consequences of handing a victory in Iraq to Al Qaeda and Iran. ... Democrats have remained emotionally invested in a narrative of defeat and retreat in Iraq, reluctant to acknowledge the progress we are now achieving, or even that progress has enabled us to begin drawing down our troops there.
Columnists George Will and William Buckley, conservative opponents of the war, have moved on to other subjects. Hillary Clinton has taken a sextagonal approach to the war (it varies from Michael Moore to Norman Podhoretz, depending on the audience). Finally, candidates, blogs, and congress have been quiet or unenthusiastic in their attacks on Bush's I

This time tomorrow, Mrs. Fab and I will be in the air on our way to Las Vegas for Blogworld and PostieCon.I haven't packed yet. I am busy taking care of more important things, like practicing my Texas Hold'em skills and trying to find all my casino slot machine cards from the last time we were in Vegas.I am very excited to be meeting all the Posties that will be attending, and it will be good to see Ted and Karen and Peter and all the fine Izea folks again. Gee whiz, after the focus group this summer I kind of figured that we would all be best friends and I would see them all the time. I envisioned Ted as a Gatsby-like figure, throwing huge, fabulous parties in his enormous mansion, and we would all drink and dance and swap stories about when we were in the war...Didn't work out that way. He probably lost my number. I'll be sure to give it to him again in a few days when I see him. Speaking of number, a lot of you guys have mine, so feel free to shoot
Neil Strauss' story is a typically American one. In fact, it has Hollywood written all over it. Interestingly, though, it's very much real: Guy who can't get any girls, goes to seminars about how to get girls, meets relationship gurus, becomes most famous one himself, gets more girls than he can count. Not bad, huh? This is a guy who learned directly from the man Marie-Claire called "The World's Greatest Pickup Artist," Mystery, and now gives HIM tips on how to pick up women! On top of that, the guy has interviewed some of the top musical acts: Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson, Dave Navarro, Britney Spears. Heck, he even got Spears' phone number! (But never called her.) He's written books, including the #1 international bestseller, The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists. Overall, not a bad resume for a guy who's only in his thirties. So who is Neil Strauss? Right now he's considered the #1 pickup artist in the world. He goes by the self-selected pseudonym of "Style

If you've been following the special election that took place yesterday in MA-5 district you can only come away with the conclusion that things may not be as rosy for Democrats in 2008 as we've been told. Jim Oganowski, a citizen candidate, was defeated by Nikki Tsongas (wife of Paul Tsongas) by a mere 5% in a heavily Democrat district. That this race was close should be very disconcerting to democrats. MA-5 voted by 17 points for John Kerry in 2004 so for a republican to come close in this race means something on the ground has changed. Beyond that, Jim Oganowski has given Republicans the road map to run successful congressional campaigns.Pat Ruffini sums it up nicely:It’s simple: the change message works. America is anti-Washington, anti-Congress, and anti-corruption. When that’s where Republicans are, they win. Jim Ogonowski showed us that. Maybe not in an overwhelmingly Democratic district like MA-5. But what about in a 7 Democrat district? Or in purple seats?Nor do we need th
PayPerPost? Well, this name changed my life. I was so new to blogging when I first heard about PayPerPost. What on earth was that, I thought to myself, while blog hopping one day. My knowledge in blogging was at infancy stage then. I had not many people to show and tell me how to move forward, so I spent a lot of time surfing and learning from the web. Well, then I came to know about PayPerPost from a local blogger and the truth was I didn't even know she had been a blogger for so long.I got inquisitive and was excited about the idea of "getting paid while you blog about the things you love" so I continued my research and in no time, my blog was approved for blog reviews and the rest was history.I must admit that I don't need the money like some people do. I have a work-at-home business with my hubby whom I have been working with for the last four years. But it is good to know that I can save the money I made for something else - it can be for my family, for a new house, a new watch

Poor pop star Britney Spears was charged Friday with two misdemeanor counts: hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a valid California license, stemming from a minor Aug. 6 smashup in a Los Angeles-area parking lot.The penalties for each charge has a maximum sentence of a $1000 fine and six months imprisonment in jail.

Saturday is the big day! Anticipation is in the air! Thousands upon thousands are feeling all jittery! It is the first "official" day of football season in Alabama. I hope everyone has tested the grills and has an extra bag of charcoal or an extra tank of gas. It is going to be a day of football, fellowship, family, and feeding the face. What fun!Alabama has a fighting match against Western Carolina. Auburn gets to tussle Kansas State, and UAB gets to go head to head against Michigan State. Thousands will be gathered at these campuses to partake in the pregame festivities. So, whether it's the "Sweet Home Alabama" gathering at the quad and tailgating by your RV at Alabama, participating in The Tiger Walk at Auburn, or sitting (and jumping) off the couch at home, your bound to have loads of fun.How are the games going to turn out? We have no idea yet. We are hoping to see a lot of touchdowns on Saturday, but only for those teams from Alabama. Of course we are pulling for a 3-0 day with
As always we hate being left out. Why shouldn't we be able to watch a GREAT TV Show just because it is only airs in the UK? That's discrimination I tell you!Well kind of! Um geographic discrimination?.. Whatever. We discovered this show by word of mouth and a link to YouTube. The YouTube Geeky Goodness Links are gone but we decided to pass along the word to you - our loyal AtA readers. It's all over the Bit Torrent networks...Not like WE advocate that or anything! So What are you waiting for? You still have time to get it, convert it and watch it on your way home. Unless you drive - then driving + watching ANYTHING other than the road = BAD!Season one was pretty damn funny (@ least for people in the industry) and Season two is starting out even funnier...But Shhhhhhh. Don't tell anyone you heard it here from [TheAdmiN]Check out our RSS feed.

BANK RUN on CFC by LA Times - 8/17/07 snip:Anxious customers jammed the phone lines and website of Countrywide Bank and crowded its branch offices to pull out their savings because of concerns about the financial problems of the mortgage lender that owns the bank...Countrywide fallout, psychological effect alone could sink consumersby MarketWatch - 8/17/07 snip:"The consumer will feel that there is no loan availability if companies like Countrywide can't keep their doors open. Okay guys i am well aware of the fact that there are tons of posts out there, leaking spoilers, showing screenshots and all that jazz but I’m not going to do that, I’m just going to run through a brief set of queries, opinions and draw my conclusion =).

The NFL began the 2007 Supplemental Draft at approximately 1:00pm today. The Jets appear to have shown interest in one of the offensive lineman in the draft and any information on the results of the draft will be reported as soon as we get them.
If you are unaware on how the Supplemental Draft works and what it means for the players entering the draft, head over to Football Fanatic to take a look on how it is conducted.
Last Friday I got that sinking feeling that Plumber Steve who I had picked was not going to show up Monday and that got me thinking again…To rip apart the dining room just felt so intrusive. And did we really have to replace the entire cast iron sewage pipe? After some more thinking we decided to put the new bathroom above the kitchen (instead of above the living room) …., and to find a new plumber of course. And guess what. Plumbers Ed and Steve are already at work. Well they were gone when I came back an hour ago but hopefully will be back soon…The mini bathroom is being installed too in the kitchen, and all the plumbing will take place there.
Looking cute!

For the vast majority of people October 1st every year has no particular significance. In fact it’s just another day of the year. For Solicitors and legal professionals in the UK though the date is a little more memorable. October 1st is when (for most) if they haven’t sorted their Professional Indemnity Insurance for the coming year they simply cannot trade. So with their very livelihood dependant on an insurance policy it seems with summer (yeah right!) now upon us a few signs that the Solicitor Insurance season is under way have started to show.Solicitor Insurance season is with us reason 1 – Go to your favourite search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN, ASK etc) and type in Insurance Solicitor (according to Yahoo in May 2007 this was the most typed in phrase or keywords for Solicitor Professional Indemnity or Insurance for Solicitors). What you’ll find is a whole host of insurance companies all advertising or promoting their facilities for the current season. Insurance brokers and
This week, a new bill was introduced in the Senate with the intention of encumbering international trade with nations whose currencies are not rising fast enough to appease the fickle Congress. Stephen Roach predicted that anti-China legislation would make it through by the end of the summer—it appears his prediction will be accurate. Senate bill [...]
Yahoo's planned shutdown of Yahoo Photos has begun. The Yahoo blog Yodel Anecdotal reports that they have started to close accounts and transition users over to Flickr. And as promised, users who don’t want to use Flickr are being given the option of moving to Shutterfly, Kodak Gallery, Snapfish or Photobucket instead. “No hard feelings,” says Yahoo, which is also offering users the option of downloading images or having them mailed on a CD. Users have until September 20 to make their final decision.

Hyderabad's property prices have begun to fall. But the correction will reflect in built up prices a year from now, reports CNBC-TV18.Hyderabad's new international airport will come up in Shamshabad. It is seen as the focal point of Hyderabad's real estate boom, but prices over there are declining. Land prices in Shamshabad have fallen by up to 35% in the past six months. When the government said it would set up an airport here, several investors rushed in, anticipating large occupied demand; as a result, prices began to rise. Then the occupier demand came in too slowly. Samit Chopra, National Director-Corporate Solutions, Jones Lang LaSalle said, “The anticipated occupier demand has not come through as quickly and in the quantum that was expected. This has resulted in some slowdown in investment activity, as a result of which, land prices are falling.” Shamshabad's proximity to the new proposed airport made it a natural choice for commercial developme
According to an article on E!, the countdown has begun for Paris Hilton's date with the man. Since I am not sure that Paris owns an alarm clock, I added a countdown counter to this exciting and informative site. The article on E! told the menu they selected to use when America shows Paris that no one is above the law. I have to say that it sounds pretty tasty (Probably not as good as what you would get if you stayed at the Hilton, but it IS room service);):Lights on at 6 a.m.Breakfast, usually consisting of cold cereal, bread, orange juice, milk and a hard-boiled egg, from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m."Lunch,usually consisting of a sandwich, an apple, cookies (mmm, cookies), veggies and a beverage, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.Dinner, centered aroundspaghetti, pepper steakor perhaps macaroni and cheese, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.Lights out at 10p.m."She also gets a nice gift bag with the usual prisongoodies. The DC Madam may be bluffing on how many of the high and haughty are in her little black book, but there is no doubt the first john has tripped.Randall Tobias, a high ranking official in the State Department, whom President Bush lauded for his success in promoting abstinence education, resigned for "personal reasons.""Personal reasons" can mean many things. In this particular case it means Mr. Tobias has been dipping his wick in a hooker's honey pot. However, since this guy is one of America’s most fine, upright and moral men, he has corrected people like me that might jump to this conclusion. We were all basing this on the fact his name was in the little black book of the DC Madam. But Lord a Mercy.Randall was just getting massages from the girls. We really should give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, his official duties also included the eradication of prostitution. But, no matter how this all comes down, I do have to hand it to Deborah Jeane Palfrey. She says she was not ope
