If your visiting the Philippines for the first time you should prepare yourself for the young and the elderly to be begging. As soon as they spot you they consider you an easy target and usually they have no education and cannot speak English. Sometimes they develop just enough English to say things like "hungry" or "give me money". These people may indeed be hungry or in desperate need of money.

The United States is in danger of a financial collapse not seen since the great depression of the 1920’s. Failed George Bush policies are determined to be the primary blame for the financial debacle. Bush was confident the house would vote affirmative for the $700 billion dollar bailout of the [...]

Ramadan is prime time for Muslims to give charitable donations, so it's not surprising the Islamic holy month is the most lucrative season for beggars. Beggars, including many old people and women with young children, have been flocking to Jakarta for the beginning of Ramadan in early September. Last year's passage by the Jakarta City Council of a law banning beggars and street hawkers has fai
This two boys are Gypsies and their favourite place for begging is just outside the St George's Church in Yambol town centre. Business is good for them right now with tourists all around. Even in the winter I see them there, Bulgarian folk are a generous bunch and regularly give money and food to these two gypsy boys. There are usually other Gypsy children begging that hang around this area but n
Are you from Bihar? Oh! You are Bihari. Then you must be expert in corruption, have all the bad habits like smoking, drinking etc. You may have police record. So this is India’s opinion about Bihar. Actually this word ‘Bihar’ has become synonym of poverty, corruption, backwardness, violence and failed governance. Both print and Media [...]

CHIKMAGALUR: Beggars are a nuisance anywhere. They are there at the doorstep of your house and at shops and on the street. But here is one group which sees the other side of the coin and views the issue differently.

In the latest example of incomprehensible mindlessness coming from south of the U.S. border, politicians in third-world Mexico are "angry" because of conditions imposed by the United States as part of the Merida handout.
Merida is the latest rip-off proposed by Mexican mole George W. Bush and his pals in Congress. It would cause $1.4 billion
Progress
choice has become entertainment, a fake sense of power over a trivial outcome whilst all the important stuff happens somewhere else. And we get fleeced in the process.
Now you have to understand that the Aging Disco Diva is very much a believer in positive thinking, but good vibes without some type of action behind them tend not to get the job done...especially when trying to get knocked up. Beggars Group home to the label Beggars Banquet whose artists include St Vincent, Oceansize, Calla, Film School to name a few, are looking for good people to join their street team to promote their artists in Portland. If you’re interested send an email to Claire Taylor for more details.

Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. ~Matthew 7:7
How true this is. If you don’t ask, who will know what you want? If you don’t seek, how you you find? Probably there are some exceptional case, just like the chinese story, the hunter who sit under the tree and waiting for the rabbit to knock into the tree again (守祩待兔).
Beggars also ask people for money and some people took pity on them and give them money. They may be lucky if they do not ask and people just give it to them.
There are many financial advisers standing outside some metres away from CPF Board like that of Bishan and Causeway Point. They also do cold canvassing at MRT stations where traffic is good such as those of Tampines MRT station, Woodlands MRT station, Orchard Road MRT station and Jurong Point MRT station.
Whenever I walked past all these Financial advisers, they hardly approach me. Perhaps, only three out of ten will app
People who give money to beggars in one Indonesian city could be slapped with a US$660 (€483) fine, while panhandlers themselves could face up to six weeks in jail under a proposed new law, an official said Friday. The goal of the bill being circulated in Medan, the provincial capital of North Sumatra, is to clear the streets of beggars, some of whom have formed organized gangs to harass tourists and residents, said Nabari Ginting of the Social Services Department. Nabari said a local survey showed the average person asking for handouts in Medan was bringing home the equivalent US6 (€4 a day), more than the average daily wage in the city. Many of the beggars worked for gang leaders, who deployed them to various points of Medan, he said."We'd rather people give money to orphanages or nursing homes," he saidIndonesia News Blog: http://indosnesos.blogspot.com
You too, can avoid beggars with this simple, effective technique. The question is…will you?
On a sidewalk in Delhi, I passed a man with no hands. His toes were also eaten away by leprosy. A small plastic bowl sat in front of him. He hunched as I approached, begging for a few coins.
I shuffled past and tried to forget him. Ten minutes later I exited a clothing shop and was seized by a gaunt woman with dark brown skin, holding a baby.
“Chapati,” she groaned and pawed at my arm (Chapati is an Indian bread). “Chapati…..milk. My baby needs milk,” her voice quivered and seemed to stick in my chest. I shook my head vigorously, sloughed her off, and walked away.
Fifty paces later, two children, perhaps six years old, spied me and approached. “Chapati, chapati, chapati,” they chirped. Their eyes were wide as they tugged my shirt.
“No”, I barked and picked up my pace. I turned the corner and leapt into the entrance of my
I was driving home yesterday when I saw a man with one leg — no, this is not a joke
He was standing at the corner of a busy intersection holding a sign that said . . . unemployed, homeless, hungry.
How sad.
I really wanted to help him by giving him some money but who knows what he’d do with it. Instead, I gave him my lunch I bought from McDonalds. (Yes, I eat there even without my kids. Their fries rock!)
I’m not sure what he was expecting but he didn’t look too thrilled. Maybe he’s watching his cholesterol? In any case, beggars can’t be choosy, right?
What do you do when you see homeless people begging on the streets? Do you try and help?
BTW, I’m off to Maui for an Easter weekend with the in-laws. Yay (insert sarcasm here). Wordpress will be automatically posting for me and I’ll catch up with everyone when I get back. Hope you all have a wonderful and safe Easter celebration!
When we first arrived to teach English in Korea, we immediately noticed something: the absence of homeless and beggars on the streets. Compared to the situation back home in Canada, we were surprised at the lack of homeless people and beggars. However, as we further explored the city we realized that this problem exists but mainly in the busier areas, such as Seoul Station. In Mokdong, you would be hard pressed trying to find people camped out in parks and in the subway stations. Move towards the inner core of City Hall and you will see people sleeping on the lawns of Namdaemun gate (where I bought my digital SLR...right on the lawns, baby) and inside the subway stations.Beggars can be found in high traffic areas, either roaming from car to car on the subway or wandering the streets of busy markets. It's very common to see handicapped people going from car to car, with a radio hanging around their necks playing a tune, while holding a basket in front of them. Some are partially "blind"
So, the Bugatti Veyron is an expensive buy at over a million bucks per. Buy it as a limited-edition model retouched by Hermes or some other fashion house and you'll have to phone Zurich to free-up another half-million plus. While you're liquidating your assets to buy your own piece of 1k hp [...]
