Bearded Iris and red squirrel in watercolour
Bearded Iris 16" x 12" watercolour The bearded Iris is now completed. I loved the striking colours of this flower, but I have no idea what variety it is as I took photos last year in a friend's garden (and they don't know either!). The best news this week (or year) was that my painting 'Red Squirrel' received the Mary Scott Kestin Award for Animals and Wildlife at the Hilliard Society

Uninformed Bearded Man Confuses Malware with iPhone Unlocking
The Apple nay-sayers love to pretend that Mac OS X and all of Apple’s other products are destined to be destroyed by hackers. Although Apple has marketed its products as being far less hackable than Windows, someday, the Mac will just be riddled with viruses. It’s inevitable! Except that it’s never happened, and what do [...]

Inappropriate Card Day makes you feel warm and fuzzy like the bearded fat lady on a summer day.
-Day 57.Today is Inappropriate Card Day. It's a National Blog Holiday instituted by Diesel at MPAC, here is the history. I am obligated to participate otherwise I'll get a ticket and that would be very inappropriate.Of course, I would participate anyway even without the threat of a Vijillion dollar fine because I am a team player… MOST of the time. I decided to make my own because there are too many of you and my accountant has put a block on my allowance ever since I called him an "oogly monster". He didn't think that was very appropriate but he still has to prove I said it in a court of law.Anyway, here it is and it's for you, You, YOU and even EWE!****************************Photo courtesy of Scarlet. Bearded, Dateless Men Gather in Brighton
Some girls like guys with beards, like my wife thank God. But When you hear a girl say that they like a guy with a beard they usually are not talking about the guys that gathered at Brighton in the UK for the recent World Beard and Moustache Championship. Either these guys were married before deciding to imitate General Ambrose Burnsides or Chester A. Arthur, or they have taken up celibacy full time. Hey, I got nothing but respect for my bearded brethren, especially after keeping the beard completely untrimmed during the 18-1 season of the New England Patriots- those things get real itchy. Not to mention that with my dirty Belichick hoddie on I was starting to look like Rasputin. To anyone that has spent some time in Bavaria guzzling lager, it's no surprise that those "evil" Germans are the

      Bearded Dragon Lizard from Australia
Australian Bearded Dragon LizardBearded Dragons have broad triangular heads and flattened bodies, with adults reaching approximately 18 to 24 inches head-to-tail. When threatened, the lizards will expand a spiny pouch under their jaw and turn it black, as well as inhale air and puff up to make them appear larger. The pouch resembles a beard, lending the animal their name.Bearded Dragons have a distinctive series of spines radiating horizontally from the head to the tail. Their color ranges from light tan to dark brown, depending on their native soil, often with highlights of black, brilliant red, or gold, and can change somewhat depending upon their internal condition. Bearded Dragons can occupy a large range of habitats from the desert to dry forests and scrublands. All species are from Au

Just South of the Bearded Hills
One day during the Fall of 2002, while walking to school over the bearded hills, I saw a gang of grenade wielding youth buying gum by a dog named Frothmore. The word 'buying' misconstrues the point, I suppose; no, they were looting and causing quite the ruckus as you might understand.Frothmore, the dog as you might remember, was wearing a hat made of fallen sunflower seeds and was being tormented by a murder of crows. They were diving back and forth over his head, mocking him more than eating. He didn't seem to mind, though, he would just roll his eyes and gazed at the gaggle of youth tormenting the local shop owners.I, having stopped at the top of one particularly bearded hill, began to move closer to the town and the wielders of mayhem. The group almost seemed oblivious to the power hel

We Are Family Of The Bearded Dragons
Another beautiful Christmas Season is over. As you can see I almost forgot how to blog, its been 7 days since my last post. However, nothing like spending time with family. I did my Santa appearance twice, one for my cousin's daughter and one for my godson. Believe or not the one year old godson almost kissed me, and he wasn't scared at all. The 3 year old girl was a bit scared but then she did too warm up to Santa. Unfortunately, I don't have good pictures of my appearance this year. My other godson and my niece, my sister's kids, were sick, so we paid them a visit after Christmas. We were very lucky to have nice no snow weather, as it allowed us to travel from house to house. So what you see on the photos are Bearded Dragons, and no they are not mating. They are just comfortable to enjoy

      Lazy Sunday [Bearded Dragon Lizard]
Lazy Sunday - A Bearded Dragon Lizard in the SunLazy Lizard Lies in the SunRecently I was walking around a friend's property, mostly Australian semi-rural bushland, when I came across this little creature. Although he looks frightening, the Bearded Dragon lizard is practically harmless, and refused to move a muscle even when we picked him up! Before moving him, I snapped this shot at an unusual angle. The detail in this photo is amazing when viewed full-screen, especially around the lizard's head - you can see every small spike and inflection in his scaly skin. Although, as I said, these lizards are practically harmless, they can give you a nasty bite if provoked, so don't go picking them up!This shot really makes you think. Whenever anybody looks at this picture they tend to automatically tilt their head counter-clockwise 90 degrees and look up and down the lizard's body. That's because of the unusual composition and depth of field in this photo. The Bearded Dragon's head forms t

      Bearded Dragon
There are often Bearded Dragon Lizards foraging in my garden during the warmer months. It isn't uncommon for lizards like this one in the snapshot to follow me around in the garden bed waiting for an easy meal to appear. This young fella was so cheeky that I was afraid that he would end up trodden on when chasing small flies around my husbands feet when cooking a barbecue. To be honest I don't know if this Bearded Dragon is a female or male. I do love having them in my garden though snakes are another story.
