      Jelly Beans
It was December last year when we received the packages from our dear relatives residing in New York. They were full of toys, clothing and lots of chocolates and candies. My kids and their cousins were really happy with the stuff. I checked on some candy packs that caught my attention. These Jelly beans candies were very colorful and looked yummy. It comes in a variety of colors like the ones you see on the rainbow or in your kids’ 24-crayon set plus some speckled and stone-liked pieces. Not only that, if you are fascinated with the red, pink, orange, yellow, blue, green and other shades of these candies I’m sure you will love the flavor of every color. Unlike other candies that come in variety of colors but the flavor is similar these candies come in different colors and flavors f

The Incredible Health Benefits of Beans
Beans are an often-overlooked source of incredible health benefits. – They have a lot of carbs, leading people to believe they should be avoided and seen as a weight gain risk only. Nothing could be farther from the truth though, as research has shown that the carbohydrates found in most beans are of the complex variety. Complex carbohydrates are not contributors to any sort of weight gain, instead providing the brain and muscles with a lot of good, stable energy supplies.Beans actually contain a wider variety of healthy nutrients than most foods. These include calcium, potassium, vitamin B6, magnesium, folate, and alpha-linolenic acid. These nutrients work together on several key areas of the body promoting total health.Beans also happen to be good sources of complete proteins, which is

      Cholesterol Beans
As much as I know my wife would love to see it, this is not a post about nutrition, green vegetables or the unwanted fatty little lipids that flow through our veins. This rather is a post about how what is heard is not always what is said.Yesterday morning in our middle school class we were doing a study on the book of Jude. Amy, one of our middle school leaders, was dong a great job leading the class, and helping them work their way through the small 25 verse long book. In verses 3 to 14 Jude writes about the sin and eventual doom of the ungodly. Where it got fun is when we hit verse 8. It reads,"In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings." Amy then had the for sight to ask the students if they understood what "celesti

      Lis Spills the Beans
Once upon a time in a faraway land, there lived a fair maiden named Meleah who tagged the lazy arse hot stick chick known as Lis with the 7 Things You Don't Know But I Do meme. Lis has finally decided to get off her lazy arse and do it. Lis also thinks that talking in the third person is crazy weird and doesn't know why so many people do it.I contemplated posting 7 obscure trivia but was too lazy to google for them. I try not to do too many of these revealing memes because I want to, you know, preserve an aura of mystery about my stick person and it's hard to do that when the whole intarweb knows every teeny weeny detail about you from your choice of underwear (black!) to your shower habits (only detachable showerheads plz). Recipe: Butter Beans & Fetta Spiral Pasta
Have you ever tried infused oils before? A couple of weeks ago, I headed to the Olive Grove Festival, near my home town. It’s a yearly festival, where you can try wines, beers and mostly fresh olives, oils and tapenades. It’s a great event and I absolutely love trying the wines, but favourite thing there is the olive oil. So many varieties from different regions and different styles. It’s the first time I’ve had the infused oils, and, after picking up some garlic infused olive oil, I simply had to use it for this dish with butter beans and fetta. Now, I’ve never really had butter beans as a feature in a meal before, and it’s certainly not going to be the last time now that I’ve had them like this. It’s a light fresh dish that is great for a hot and sultry summer night. The basil and mustard add a sharp, but fresh bite to the meal, almost cleansing your palate. Serve this pasta with a nice white wine! Serves: Dinner for two with a

The menu of Bagels & Beans has changed a bit, including some raised prices Notably now you can order an extra with your fresh juice, namely a shot of noni juice, royal jelly or active greens. Baked beans and your retirement. How super will it be? Some tips.
Australia has been called the lucky country. Lucky for natural wealth and resources, fabulous climate and an easy going attitude. But what about luck for retirees? Most of us realise that a Government pension won't give us the lifestyle we want to enjoy through the years when there's no income coming in the door. Today, people are living longer and would love to stop working sooner. But the big question is, how can you afford to do it? The tiny 9% employer contribution from your salary is not going to be enough to cover your weekly expenses and bills in retirement, never mind a holiday overseas or new car. If you don't do something now about your super, you'll be looking forward to more baked beans on toast than a roast dinner with all the trimmings! The good news is, people are making active decisions and putting super contributions into overdrive. Adding extra money into your account is definitely a smart investment move, especially when there are so many great incentives to en

A little over a year ago the world discovered Java, a new language and runtime environment that was untested, unreliable, limited in function, slower than just about anything on the planet and at the same time the solution to all of the world's programming problems and ready to replace everything from assembly language to Visual Basic. A year later the news is good and not quite so good (but far from bad): people are demonstrating some interesting successes and learning a lot in the process; some of the hype has been replaced by more rational discourse on Java's value today and potential for the future (a lot fewer people are claiming the imminent demise of C++, Fortran or Cobol, although some are now predicting the demise of CORBA); and Java has experienced its first major update. JavaSoft's release of version 1.1 of its Java Development Kit offers new interfaces for programmers to exploit, new facilities for users and tool builders and a better implementation of a lot of the machi

      Arsene Spills The Beans
Arsene is featured in this month’s FourFourTwo magazine’s ‘Readers Questions’ section, the supposedly juicy bits being his ruling himself out of the England job when it becomes vacant next summer. For me though, the interesting stuff is more Arsenal specific. In response to a question about players he missed out on, he again mentions Eto’o and Makelele. The next part of the answer is produced in full below, I also let some players go who I knew would make a career, like Muamba, Steve Sidwell and Larsson, but in the end I had to make a choice whether they could play for me or not. Sometimes you’re too hard but most of the time it’s because the guy doesn’t have the necessary quality or motivation In that context, it makes you wonder which one of the three Muamba had. At the time, I could understand Sidwell because of the quality of those ahead of him and Larsson had not convinced me about whether he could make the grade at Arsenal yet Muamba had ‘rave’

Japanese Candy Review: Caramel, Vanilla Beans, and Kiwifruit KitKats
The Japanese Kit Kat saga continues with no signs of slowing down. Those Candy Addicts who are new to the satisfying hobby of international candy eating may not know that Nestle, who makes KitKat in Asia (Hershey makes Kit Kat in the U.S.) seem to never tire of developing new, occasionally strange, varieties of the chocolate confection. I present to you three more additions to the ever-growing list of new members of the KitKat family: Vanilla Beans KitKat Vanilla Beans KitKat tastes exactly like vanilla frosting. It has a pleasant vanilla fragrance, and it’s extremely creamy. The white chocolate coats your tongue a little. Nice. Caramel KitKat These were by far my favorite, although I think they would be much more accurately described as butterscotch. They look like regular chocolate KitKats but with caramel tiger-stripes. They’re very rich, the caramelized-but-not-burnt sugar flavor overpowers the chocolate a bit, but they still blend nicely and have a really butt

UK iPhones spill beans on 1.1.2
Once again, it appears that our friends across the pond get a bit of a jump on us when it comes to checking out the next version of the iPhone’s software. Back in September, they got a sneak peek at the infamous version 1.1.1. Now, ahead of the iPhone’s official drop in the UK on Friday, some British sources are reporting that the models are running version 1.1.2. Differences? Mainly it seems to be a matter of International keyboard layouts (which we also saw in the UK version of 1.1.1 though they didn’t show up in the US flavor). The only other difference reported at the moment is that the scary TIFF exploit appears to have been plugged. Which just means hackers will have to find a new way into the OS—and undoubtedly, they will. Me? I just hope that 1.1.2 brings with it a fix for the 1.1.1 battery blues. Copyright Mac Publishing LLC. Quick Refried Beans: Straight from the Can
Ok I'll admit it, at one time I would cook up a pot of pinto beans. I would clean and soak my beans over night. Early the next morning I would wake up to give them one last clean over and on the stove they went to cook for hours and hours.I remember adding water, water, and more water ... all day looooong. That was then!Occassionally I still will put on a pot of soup beans but in a pinch, can pinto beans are life savers and this is why:Ingredients:A Can of Pinto BeansA teaspoon of your favorite oilDepending on what 'm going to eat with my refried beans I either add minced onion or jalapeño or not. It just depends.I usually cook 2 cans for me and the Mexicans. I put one teaspoon of oil (vegetable I think) in the skillet, heat on medium high heat until hot, if I'm using minced onions or jalepeños I add them first and sautee them for a couple of minutes before adding my beans ... if not then I just add the beans. And the secret ... (Shhhh!) I take a fork and mash half of the beans up.

Butter Beans with Parsley, Tomatoes and Chorizo
I wanted to like this more than I did. And I think its all my fault. I thought it was weird that only the chorizo got a turn in the pan... and I wanted to have warm beans and tomatoes... So... once the chorizo was browned a little, I tossed everything else into the pan. Do not do this at home. What ended up happening was all the chorizo oil got onto everything else.. so every bite tasted like it, regardless of what you put into your mouth. Now, if you like that sort of thing, feel free to replicate. Now, what I would do differently is: Follow the instructions. Now that I've had some time to think about it, I think the differences in temperature would have been a nice contrast... or maybe I would heat the veggies in a separate pot... either way... don't let your chorizo oil ruin your dinner. Again, unless you're into that. ;)Butter Beans with Parsley, Tomatoes and Chorizoc/o Food and Wine Magazine, May 20071 14 oz can butter beans with their liquid½ pound chorizo, halved lengthwise a

Man Arrested Over 10 Jelly Beans
The 34-year-old Fort Walton Beach man was buying groceries at Albertson’s when he stopped at a bin of candy and put an unspecified number of jelly beans in his mouth, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office report. The deputy, who was working an off-duty detail, confronted the suspect after he had paid for the rest of his groceries and asked him if the candy was good. “Yes,” the suspect replied, according to the report. The deputy told a manager that the suspect had taken about 10 of the “raspberry-flavored” candies. The man denied taking more than two. He added that he’d been shopping at Albertson’s for 30 years and that he was just trying the candy to see if he wanted to buy it. The deputy “advised him that Albertson’s did not have free samples of candy and he should have known that if he had been shopping at Albertson’s for 30 years.” The store manager on duty told the deputy that he wanted charges brought against the suspect, who was also issued a t

Coffee Flavor Peaks with Freshly Roasted Beans
By: Ray La FoyTrue coffee lovers know the best way to buy coffee is to get it directly from the roaster. Green beans, those that are not yet roasted, can hold their flavor for years if stored correctly, but once the roasting process is completed, the peak of freshness begins to wane quickly. By buying beans directly from the people who handle the roasting process or at least the next step in the chain, coffee connoisseurs can ensure the best quality and even save a little bit of the fun in grinding for themselves.Coffee itself only comes from two main beans - the robusta and the arabica. The arabica is considered the most flavorful of the two and is used by most major coffee makers the world over. In fact, this bean accounts for some 70 percent of the world's production of coffee. The key in getting different flavors often lies within the skill of the person handling the roasting process. The same batch of beans, for example, can be roasted in a number of different ways to produce cof
