Impact of Basel II Accord on banking system and bank behavior
There are two major impacts of Basel II on banking system: q The standardized approach often yields much lower regulatory capital levels than the internal model approach, precisely the opposite of what was intended. This may destroy the incentives for banks to migrate toward the IRB approach. It remains an open question just how different the [...]

Basel Accord - an international standard for capital requirements
Formal and systemic bank capital regulation is relatively new. The 1988 Basel Capital Accord, or Basel I, which set minimum capital standards for internationally active banks, was the first international accord of its kind. It succeeded at raising capital levels at a time when they were quite low. Aside from defining what types of capital [...]

Hotels in Basel are the best at what it offers
Hotels in Basel are a class apart. Last month I made a visit to the city of Basel in Switzerland on official purpose. Since I am a marketing executive and require doing a lot of traveling I checked in various hotels in basel. Be it staff service, ambience or facilities available… I was pleased to the hilt. Clean bedroom, spick and span bathroom, delicious fare, and commendable room service… everything was perfect. Believe me, there was never a moment when I felt I was not being served properly. Rather I was treated as a king and pampered excessively. Not just the services even the other entertainment options were equally pleasing. After a hard days works swimming in the pristine pools was quite an experience. Hotels in Basel are well equipped with all the necessary business convenience

Everything You Need to Know About Art Basel-And More!
Need to know?  What to do?  Where to go?  Basel and the satellite fairs get bigger and bigger every year.  Finally, there is an website which debuted last week to help guide you through the parties, the scene and oh yeah, THE ART. WWW.MA2DWEEK.COM   WWW.MA2DWEEK.COM is a sassy guide to the week, from distress offerings of last-minute hotel rooms, to invitations to a Basel Schmazel party in New York (for those unfortunates who didn’t make it to Miami). It tells you what private parties are on, and where, so you can say, “Oh, I knew that,” when someone says Bentley is going to throw a party on a “private island” for its 50 VIP clients. (Hint, the island may be exclusive, but it’s not really “private.”) It even has a link to Plum TV so you can pretend you’ve already seen the Scholl’s new installation at their home. And it’s smart. On its printable daily schedule, it highlights the strategic plan for the day. Wednes

I had a great time at Basel Hotels
On my trip to Basel, I had an awesome time in this city of Switzerland. Visiting the places of interest was exciting but what all the more impressed me was my experience at Basel Hotels. Since I had to travel from place to place I had to put up at different hotels in different places of Basel. Before landing in the city I did some research so as to familiarize myself with the status quo of Basel Hotels and I was pleased to learn that there exist more than four thousand hotel rooms that are very pleasingly equipped with all the necessary facilities that one may need during one’s stay at any other hotel. But if a person’s personal experience is anything to go by, then believe me, the experience is absolutely heavenly. Falling in all price brackets basel hotels are found in all ranges. Va

USA Ends Losing Streak With A 1-0 Win In Basel
The U.S. men's national team ended a 5 game losing streak, which believe it or not was the longest since 1994, with a 1-0 victory over Switzerland in very soggy conditions.Michael Bradley scored the lone goal in the 86th minute after Clint Dempsey deflected Danny Szetela's cross into the air. It wasn't the prettiest goal ever, but a goal is a goal in my book, especially if it leads to victory. The U.S. is now 10-5-1 under new coach Bob Bradley. Those 5 losses are a bit deceiving because 3 of those losses came in the Copa America, where we chose to send our "B" squad. The U.S. will next see action in South Africa this November. Look for the U.S. to send it's "#1 squad" to that match, which could see Landon Donovan become USA's all-time leading goal scorer.

Banking Agencies Reach Agreement on BASEL II Implementation
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Federal Reserve, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Office of Thrift Supervision and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation reached an agreement today regarding the implementation of Basel II in the United States. The agreement resolves major outstanding issues and will now lead to finalization of a rule implementing the advanced approaches for computing large banks’ risk-based capital requirements. The agencies have agreed that rules implementing the advanced approach should be finalized expeditiously, and should be technically consistent in most respects with international approaches. The agreement retains the NPR’s transitional floor periods. After the parallel run in 2008, those transitional floors provide for maximum cumulative reductions of 5 percent during the first year of implementation, 10 percent in the second year, and 15 percent in the third year. After the end of the second transition year period, the agencies wi

Art Unlimited is the place fot the art and not so much for the selling, so it felt kind of relaxing (although we didn't intend to buy anything anyway) ;-) The «Art Unlimited» exhibition features some 70 artists from 28 countries presenting exciting art projects as can be seen at no other art fair in the world. The line-up of exhibiting artists at this prestigious exhibition of contemporary art reads like a Who’s Who of the cutting-edge international art scene. High fashion inspired styles - some H&M combined with lesser known designs always resulted in something great. Well art basel is not just about art it's also about style and expressing oneselves. It was really great - a mixture of fun, depth, party, whatever.Did you know that he's also representing Fischerspooner??? Well I knew that they did this performance at art basel miami beach in 2002, but...!? How actually does an art gallery represent musicians, well thats what they basically are! That's so great! Jeffrey Deitch must be crazy!Check out the "galleries" website. I still don't know if I like it or not - it's just so...Kehinde Wiley | booth view | Barry McGee, Installation view, Meatmarket, 2004

In addition I'm going to meet my future "boss" from New York (or well at least the person who is going to pay my salaray in parts...). So a neat pair of skinny jeans and some flats won't be enough to leave a mark. Since I don't have the money to simply buy the things I'd need for some fabulous outfits I'll have to be creative.June's German InStyle (my favourite trash magazine!) already brought a special on the art events with some dressing advice (maybe EVERY magazine is going to bring or has already written something about it!). Since it's going to be hot, I'll go for light summer dresses and some fabulous sandals. I definitely won't be able to walk around Basel in heels (as adviced)!!! Andy Murray Vs Juan Martin Del Potro - 1st Rnd - Basel 2006
The lure of another tournament was evidently too much for Murray who has decided to delay his rest to play in Basel. Last year, Murray got to the qtr-finals before being knocked out by eventual winner, Fernando Gonzalez. This tournament was most notable, however, for throwing up the first Murray Vs Henman encounter which Murray won 6-2, 5-7, 7-6. Murray is seeded 6 for this tournament and has a decent chance of getting to the qtr-finals again. First up is Del Potro (91) who is 16 months younger than Murray but is still inside the top 100. This could be a harder match than the ranking suggests. If Murray overcomes this hurdle he will face either Burgsmuller or Bastl, both of whom are below the 150 mark. The Qtr-Finals could be Gonzalez (again!) with the possibility of Nalbandian in the semi's and Federer in the final. This tournament is being shown on Eurosport so I'll post the schedule when I have it. Play starts on Tuesday. Source: Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel

Turns out I was wrong - and since my ticket was never checked, I rode for free... so make that a 16 day pass. hehe The ride wasn't that comfortable, alternating between too hot and too cold, screaming baby just behind me (I swear I think someone I know is tracking my trip and hiring someone to bring a screaming baby along so I can never sleep) and uncomfortable sleeper chairs.
