Swiss champions Basel have agreed a new two-year
contract until 2011 with coach Christian Gross, ending weeks of
speculation over his future at the club.
A goal from Yannick Djaló, at 19 minutes, allowed Sporting to victory with a closing round of the UEFA Champions League groups. The Basel came back to beat the team of Paulo Bento, in St. Jakob, a game that was also marked by injury from Vukcevic, at the end of the first part.

Ist es in Zeiten der Finanzkrise nicht in jeder Beziehung hinfällig, sich um eine Finanzierung zu bemühen. Außerdem noch was: Tritt bei Mikrokrediten nicht auch Basel II in Kraft. Formal and systemic bank capital regulation is relatively new. The 1988 Basel Capital Accord, or Basel I, which set minimum capital standards for internationally active banks, was the first international accord of its kind. It succeeded at raising capital levels at a time when they were quite low. Aside from defining what types of capital [...]

Hotels in Basel are a class apart. Last month I made a visit to the city of Basel in Switzerland on official purpose. Since I am a marketing executive and require doing a lot of traveling I checked in various hotels in basel. Be it staff service, ambience or facilities available… I was pleased to the hilt. Clean bedroom, spick and span bathroom, delicious fare, and commendable room service… everything was perfect. Believe me, there was never a moment when I felt I was not being served properly. Rather I was treated as a king and pampered excessively. Not just the services even the other entertainment options were equally pleasing. After a hard days works swimming in the pristine pools was quite an experience. Hotels in Basel are well equipped with all the necessary business convenience
I have been to the city of Basel in Switzerland many a times in the past. Among the most urban metropolitans Basel is also a popular tourist destination. And since many tourists and visitors pay visit to this beautiful town each year, Hotels Basel have an international presence. Centrally located and nearby major places of interest and attraction, every hotel in Basel is very desirable. Hotels Basel does not just make you stay in Basel a great experience but also a memorable one. Whether you are visiting Basel city on official purpose or simply on a vacation, these hotels of Basel make the best of your time. On different instances I have put up at different ranges of Hotels Basel. From luxurious five star hotels to easy on pocket budget hotels all of them are best at serving their customer

Need to know? What to do? Where to go? Basel and the satellite fairs get bigger and bigger every year. Finally, there is an website which debuted last week to help guide you through the parties, the scene and oh yeah, THE ART.
WWW.MA2DWEEK.COM is a sassy guide to the week, from distress offerings of last-minute hotel rooms, to invitations to a Basel Schmazel party in New York (for those unfortunates who didn’t make it to Miami). It tells you what private parties are on, and where, so you can say, “Oh, I knew that,” when someone says Bentley is going to throw a party on a “private island” for its 50 VIP clients. (Hint, the island may be exclusive, but it’s not really “private.”) It even has a link to Plum TV so you can pretend you’ve already seen the Scholl’s new installation at their home. And it’s smart. On its printable daily schedule, it highlights the strategic plan for the day. Wednes
On my trip to Basel, I had an awesome time in this city of Switzerland. Visiting the places of interest was exciting but what all the more impressed me was my experience at Basel Hotels. Since I had to travel from place to place I had to put up at different hotels in different places of Basel. Before landing in the city I did some research so as to familiarize myself with the status quo of Basel Hotels and I was pleased to learn that there exist more than four thousand hotel rooms that are very pleasingly equipped with all the necessary facilities that one may need during one’s stay at any other hotel. But if a person’s personal experience is anything to go by, then believe me, the experience is absolutely heavenly. Falling in all price brackets basel hotels are found in all ranges. Va

The U.S. men's national team ended a 5 game losing streak, which believe it or not was the longest since 1994, with a 1-0 victory over Switzerland in very soggy conditions.Michael Bradley scored the lone goal in the 86th minute after Clint Dempsey deflected Danny Szetela's cross into the air. It wasn't the prettiest goal ever, but a goal is a goal in my book, especially if it leads to victory. The U.S. is now 10-5-1 under new coach Bob Bradley. Those 5 losses are a bit deceiving because 3 of those losses came in the Copa America, where we chose to send our "B" squad. The U.S. will next see action in South Africa this November. Look for the U.S. to send it's "#1 squad" to that match, which could see Landon Donovan become USA's all-time leading goal scorer.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Federal Reserve, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Office of Thrift Supervision and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation reached an agreement today regarding the implementation of Basel II in the United States. The agreement resolves major outstanding issues and will now lead to finalization of a rule implementing the advanced approaches for computing large banks’ risk-based capital requirements.
The agencies have agreed that rules implementing the advanced approach should be finalized expeditiously, and should be technically consistent in most respects with international approaches. The agreement retains the NPR’s transitional floor periods. After the parallel run in 2008, those transitional floors provide for maximum cumulative reductions of 5 percent during the first year of implementation, 10 percent in the second year, and 15 percent in the third year.
After the end of the second transition year period, the agencies wi
play was so kind to put some photos of some nice people from art basel on her blog. These are the ones I like the most. Actually I've also seen some of them in person. But - as usual - I was too shy to ask if I could take their photos. The first girl works at mary mary gallery (what a cool name!). I've seen her at the Liste. I can remeber her Diesel high waisted skinny jeans. They looked better on her than in the commercials!I've spotted the last femme at art basel with her girlfriend a couple of times and really liked her styling... Actually I got filmed. If you see me somewhere please tell me.Credit: playlust.net
I pretty much enjoyed Art Unlimited although we were kind of late and just had an hour left to look at everything (which was kind of sad, since there'd been a lot of nice video installations which we couldn't see). Art Unlimited is the place fot the art and not so much for the selling, so it felt kind of relaxing (although we didn't intend to buy anything anyway) ;-) The «Art Unlimited» exhibition features some 70 artists from 28 countries presenting exciting art projects as can be seen at no other art fair in the world. The line-up of exhibiting artists at this prestigious exhibition of contemporary art reads like a Who’s Who of the cutting-edge international art scene. Many of the pieces on show have been created especially for «Art Unlimited». [...] (pressrelease).
I was really happy to meet a lot of people I knew. Katharina is currently working at meyer-riegger gallery in Karlsruhe (I've posted about them a couple of months ago here) and used to study with me at the hfg (well I'm currently graduating...).Katharina has a really great style and I was always pleased to see what she'd pulled together. High fashion inspired styles - some H&M combined with lesser known designs always resulted in something great. Well art basel is not just about art it's also about style and expressing oneselves. Sometimes I really love the art world.
Carmine Caputo di Roccanova is searching a wife. Well Kate is already engaged, but probably YOU aren't yet? He looked kind of wealthy, and italianate chique wearing a polo shirt, blue jeans and slippers. Couldn't find anything about him on the internet or can you read italian?
it was fantastic beyond believe. We met so many important people, made important contacts... We did 4 fairs (art basel, volta, liste and scope) in two days and had a fantastic appartement (thank you Axel ♥) next to the Rhine with a huge roof top terrace located next to all the fairs (and the city!) so we could ride everywhere by bike.Life is so fast right now. Expect things to come...
The basel week starts tomorrow (well, I'll be in Basel for the weekend). Besides art basel there're always plenty of things to see. So take your time ;-)Other (smaller) art fairs taking place this week are scope, liste and voltashow which will be most interessting for those of you who are interessted in young emerging art and not so much the high art stuff shown at art basel.Basel is very art focussed this week so every art institution will try to attract the art crowd. I tried to make a list of things you shouldn't miss while beeing in Basel (parties not included - other suggestions are always welcome - mahret [at] fnart.org).Jasper Johns - An Allegory of Painting. 1955-1965 at kunstmuseum baselChristophe Lamber "temple of nothing" at galerie daeppenThe Art of Failure and Exit Basel at kunsthaus basellandAnd I've always wanted to visit the schaulager and so should you. Well. Since learning and thinking about what to wear at basel art fair is all i do for the last couple of days, i thought it would be nice of me to share at least my thoughts on the clothing issue. Some time ago i stumbled upon sans the new york based eco friendly design duo - growing up in germany all this eco fuss seems really weired to me!!! Anyway, I love their styles and when it's also eco friendly, it's even better!!! Today I talked to Kate about it and maybe we'll try to redesign some of the styles since I can't afford the original right now...The title of this post is a quote. French artist Matthieu Laurette did a project at Frieze Art Fair two years ago called what do they wear at frieze art fair?Credit: s-a-n-s.com
I'll be in Basel for the art fair this year (The Sartorialist aswell!!!). I'm already thinking about what to wear. Since this fair isn't not only about art! In addition I'm going to meet my future "boss" from New York (or well at least the person who is going to pay my salaray in parts...). So a neat pair of skinny jeans and some flats won't be enough to leave a mark. Since I don't have the money to simply buy the things I'd need for some fabulous outfits I'll have to be creative.June's German InStyle (my favourite trash magazine!) already brought a special on the art events with some dressing advice (maybe EVERY magazine is going to bring or has already written something about it!). Since it's going to be hot, I'll go for light summer dresses and some fabulous sandals. I definitely won't be able to walk around Basel in heels (as adviced)!!! Some accessories, a neat bag - done!I'll post pictures on my clothes sorting progress the next couple of days (I'll be in Stuttg

Andy Murray failed to recover from a throat infection in time for his opening match in Switzerland and will now concentrate on recovering in time for the Paris Masters next week.
In some ways a rest from competition may do Murray more good, but it's hard not to admire the determination to play at every opportunity.
Source:
BBC SPORT | Tennis | Illness forces Murray to pull out
The lure of another tournament was evidently too much for Murray who has decided to delay his rest to play in Basel.
Last year, Murray got to the qtr-finals before being knocked out by eventual winner, Fernando Gonzalez. This tournament was most notable, however, for throwing up the first Murray Vs Henman encounter which Murray won 6-2, 5-7, 7-6.
Murray is seeded 6 for this tournament and has a decent chance of getting to the qtr-finals again.
First up is Del Potro (91) who is 16 months younger than Murray but is still inside the top 100. This could be a harder match than the ranking suggests.
If Murray overcomes this hurdle he will face either Burgsmuller or Bastl, both of whom are below the 150 mark.
The Qtr-Finals could be Gonzalez (again!) with the possibility of Nalbandian in the semi's and Federer in the final.
This tournament is being shown on Eurosport so I'll post the schedule when I have it. Play starts on Tuesday.

When I arrived at Basel, it was a Monday afternoon and the day before Switzerland's 715th birthday. The town was void of people, because many of them took advantage of this long weekend and went on vacation.
But, by nightfall, many people came to Basel for its hours of fireworks. Apparently, Basel is the only
The first Nighttrain (Paris-Basel)
It's morning in Basel and I'm back visiting family for a few days... hopefully en route to Austria, Southern Germany, Scandinavia and the Netherlands with my Eurrail pass. Turns out that I forgot to fill the date in for my first trip on the Eurrail pass, I thought the conductor had to fill it in. Turns out I was wrong - and since my ticket was never checked, I rode for free... so make that a 16 day pass. hehe
The ride wasn't that comfortable, alternating between too hot and too cold, screaming baby just behind me (I swear I think someone I know is tracking my trip and hiring someone to bring a screaming baby along so I can never sleep) and uncomfortable sleeper chairs. At one point a Japanese girl was using part of me as a pillow. I wrote a haiku about it.

I dont like the SNCF generally because they do a lot of investment in their high speed link while leaving the re
