When interviewed after the race on Sunday in Italy, Hector Barbera had quite a lot to say on his feelings about the incident which ended his race on the final lap of the Moto GP.
The Spanish rider accused Marco Simoncelli of deliberately applying his brakes on the start of the final lap and [...]
Barbera is a bright wine with lively fruit and crisp acidity, but isn’t particularly tannic nor structured. Or at least it wasn’t until the late Giacomo Bologna, one of the pioneers of the Italian wine renaissance, decided to put his Barbera into small oak barrels. What emerged — smooth, rich, with elegant tannins from the [...]
Today is the first taste of the wine tour of Italy, undertaken by InterWined in order to try to get a better handle on why Italian things make book authors cry.
So it seems only fitting to start with the popular, and often mass produced wines made from the Barbera grape. Wines made from Barbera strike [...]

I have organized a field trip to The Wine Show in Islington for Bryan, Stacey, Bryan's parents, Feathers and Matt, and K&A. The place is packed. Shortly after our arrival, K&A stop in Italy--Piedmont, to be exact. I know they'll be there for a while--they love Italian wine like nobody's business--so I move on. I try some port with Feathers & Matt and then get the evil eye from the Crianza ladies when I ask to try a little Crianza and I've still got the dregs of port in my glass. They are SO not happy with me.
I get the evil eye again from a New Zealand table when I ask about the difference between two pinot noirs. "Four years" (with a little attitude) is all I get. I thought I had asked very nicely. And dude, there's so got to be more of a difference than the age. Is it me?
Wine snobs! Can't we all be friends?
So it's refreshing to find myself back in Piedmont--although K&A have moved on to elsewhere in Italy at this point--where I meet the

He co-founded Hanna-Barbera Studios with William Hanna in the 1957 after the pair earlier worked on the Tom and Jerry series at MGM studios.
Other classic characters to originate from Hanna-Barbera included The Jetsons, Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound.
Joe was said to have died of natural causes at home with his wife, Sheila, at his side.

Barbera, half of the Hanna-Barbera animation team that produced such beloved cartoon characters as Tom and Jerry, Yogi Bear and the Flintstones, died Monday, a Warner Bros. spokesman said. He was 95. Barbera died of natural causes at his home with his wife Sheila at his side, Warner Bros. spokesman Gary Miereanu said. With his longtime partner, Bill Hanna, Barbera first found success creating the highly successful Tom and Jerry cartoons. The antics of the battling cat and mouse went on to win seven Academy Awards, more than any other series with the same characters."From the Stone Age to the Space Age and from primetime to Saturday mornings, syndication and cable, the characters he created with his late partner, William Hanna, are not only animated superstars, but also a very beloved part of American pop culture. While he will be missed by his family and friends, Joe will live on through his work," Warner Bros. Chairman and CEO Barry Meyer said Monday.
