Jeff's Take:I’ve heard of Kansas City-style barbecue. Ditto with Texas-style and Memphis-style barbecue. But I’ve never heard of Philly-style barbecue. And I don’t think I’m alone. But Tommy Gunns, a tiny joint in Manayunk, claims that it has The City of Brotherly Love’s unique variant of the American classic. Well, at least for spare ribs. What makes “Philly-style” spare ribs unique, according to the website, is that while other styles trim more meat off the bone in order to achieve a uniform rib size, Tommy Gunns eschews size uniformity, and therefore leaves more meat on the bone. In addition, while most places serve their ribs right out of the smoker, Tommy Gunns throws them on the grill quickly before they’re plated. In the flavor department, the spare ribs here are exce
People gather around Uruguayan cooks who barbecue meat in an attempt to break a record for the world's largest barbecue in MontevideoA meats association in Uruguay on Sunday hosted the world's biggest barbeque on a single grill totalling 1,500 meters in length, media reported. As many as 1,252 volunteer cooks grilled 12 metric tonnes of beef and about 20,000 spectators cried with joy when a Guinness judge confirmed the barbecue record had been broken. "I'm very proud to be Uruguayan. We have the best beef and now we have the world's biggest barbecue," said one of the cooks. From the website: "The Baked Potato Grill Cooker makes it twice as fast to cook a potato on the grill ... Stick your potato onto the prongs of the rack, then place (it) on the grill. The metal rack will conduct heat from the grill, cooking it from the inside while it’s also cooked from the outside. Also keeps the potatoes from rolling around." USD 7:99.

After opening his flagship stall in Jalan Kayu and the downtown outlet in Club Street comes their 3rd outlet located in Tanglin Shopping Centre. To make the Tanglin outlet resemble a BBQ place in the South, many of the tables and chairs have been replaced with six-seat cosy booths. Ingredients :2 cups vinegar1 cup vegetable oil1 egg3 tablespoons salt1 tablespoon poultry seasoningPepper to taste6 to 8 Chicken Breasts (not boneless)Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Marinade chicken in sauce for at least 1 - 2 hours (we allowed the chicken to marinate overnight). Cook chicken over charcoal grill until done. Baste often while cooking. Chef's Note: I basted the chicken almost continuously during the cooking process. The recipe makes plenty of marinade so be generous with your basting. I would cook the chicken for a few minutes after the last dose of basting, however, since there is raw egg in the marinade. By the way, the Cornell Chicken was wonderful!!Tips : Even though you can cut out some fat and calories by removing the skin from the chicken before cooking, this marinade causes the skin to become nice and crunchy and very tasty. I will leave the "skin-off vs. skin-on" option up to you. Eggplant SteaksIngredients :1 - 3 cloves garlic, fine

I only had one early morning class scheduled yesterday so I invited Bran, Marna (the girl he's seeing right now), Dan and Veronica (who managed to get a sitter for ugly-baby) and Slink, from work (who is really a funny guy) all over for a barbeque. We had thick steaks, baked potatoes and Veronica brought a huge pan of homemade cornbread. It was great! We drank some beer and wine and after dinner I grabbed my guitar and we sat around my fire pit singing songs and making smores. Friends and good food, that's all you need! We are not having our barbeque today, because my husband is not feeling well. So, we'll have to do our barbeque much later, some other time, perhaps. Anyway, I am busy, but I always try to find time to do my sideline job here. Because, as you know, I need extra money. So, I am doing what I can to make some, it will help us live a little. Okay, time for another 50 words...LOL.
This is a barbeque with style, although it does actually look very similer to a coffin, but despite the looks this grill is some serious kit, it has more than six levels, which taper upwards, it uses wood to cook with, which is placed at the bottom, the heat and smoke rises through the levels, providing the smoked flavour that we all love.

I am so glad that tomorrow Tiana will have no school, so a day off for all us then. Also, on Memorial Day she is off school, too, of course, so that will be another easy day for me especially. I can't wait to have a cook out for Memorial Day. We always have a barbeque on the grill. Anyway, I have my hands full; our baby girl just had 3 shots yesterday, and so she occupies most of my time at the moment. She is always crying in pain. In fact, it seems like she is having a fever; She gets too warm. I gave her a tylenol medicine but, it only made her vomit. Poor little one, why did she have to get so many shots all at once, that was awful. I couldn't understand it, as it should be one at a time. A good thing, that she is a good baby. I'll have to give a bath now to cool her off and make her feel better. Okay till here.

When considering barbeque safety, there are several things to consider.1. The Location Of The GrillBe careful to choose a spot that is away from trees, brush and other overhanging structures. Imagine a flare up. Will your roof catch fire? Locate the grill well away from all flammables.Choose a spot that is away from the main traffic flow patterns. You do not want the football game to accidently back up into your grill. Ruining your dinner and possibly burning someone or something. It would also be a good idea to be located near a garden hose.2. Using Proper UtensilsGrill safety includes using the proper utensils to avoid burning. The barbeque utensils that you see in stores are longer than kitchen tools for a reason. You want to be able to reach into the fire, if needed, without getting burned. You will be safe if you use the proper utensils.3. Dress Properly For The GrillThis seems a bit crazy, but it is important. You need to be sure that you are not wearing anything that is too loos
by: Valerie Giles There’s nothing more enjoyable than having friends and family gathered around amidst the wonderful smells of charcoal-grilled prawns, vegetables and selected favorites. Barbecuing is one of those time- honored rituals that go hand in hand with summertime. Whether you’re in your backyard or at you’re favorite camping site, barbecuing is a pleasure to be enjoyed by the whole family. Barbecuing has never been more exciting; with the endless designs of barbecues available and the myriad of barbecue cookbooks and cooking shows it really does take barbecuing into a whole new realm. With recipes for everything from grilled bananas to peaches and dry rubs for ribs, barbecues aren’t just for cooking steaks and burgers anymore. With all the available barbecuing options it helps to know a few of the barbecuing terms and barbecuing utensils that are used. Firstly, barbecues come in a wide variety of options; there are propane, natural gas and the standard barbecues for u
When purchasing your barbeque grill, think of it as an investment rather then just another item for your outdoor entertainment. You should expect this item to become a large part of your outdoor activities for many years to come. But like any other investments, proper maintenance and care is needed to ensure that your barbeque grill will work for you for many years to come. While some maintenance and cleaning is specific to the type of barbeque grill your own (gas, electric, charcoal or smoke barbecue grill), the majority of maintenance that should be carried on does not change from grill to grill.Step 1- Gathering The Necessary ItemsYou will need some common household items on hand when it comes time to clean your barbeque grill.Brass wire grill brushSteel wool pads, preferably that contains soap already.Mild dish soapSponge or dishclothSpray cooking oilDry baking sodaAluminum foilStep 2- Brushing Your Grill OffThe first thing that should always be done to your grill is a routine bru
The Barbeque Bible by Steven Raichlen was a Christmas gift to me from a co-worker. I have been using this book for a couple of years and I love it. Mr. RAichlen includes some great recipes from all over the world. This makes the title a bit misleading, since barbecue is an American phenomenon. What this book has is grilling. Most people refer to any form of grilling outdoors as barbecuing, so I can forgive him for the mass marketing appeal. He travelled the six continents gathering recipes, reaching across many styles of cuisine from Afghanistani to Uraguayan. Most of the spices are obtainable in the US, although he admits that some must be found in specialty ethnic markets. For spices that cannot be found in the US, he suggests alternatives.I like how he includes every aspect of a meal for an outdoor party. He starts with mixed drinks then goes to appetizers, salads and the different kinds of meat.Since he does call it "The Barbecue Bible", he includes many recipes from the American st
