      Mother/ Daughter Banquet
I took the girls to our first mother daughter banquet last night at our church. They had so much fun, they loved the fact that all the men were serving us. It was so nice to actually sit and relax and eat dinner. It was also very nice to not only have my Grandma, Mom and Sister with us but my mother in law too. I hope all you ladies enjoyed yourself to, you all are very important and

Oh How I Love Me a Banquet
Just popping in for a moment because I am majorly coveting your prayers! I am so excited that in a few hours I'll be heading to my friend, Lisa-Writes', church to speak at their women's banquet. The theme absolutely rocks - Taste of Italy. I can't wait to see what all they've done to incorporate that into the night. Don't you just love being a woman? You would think at some point that one church's banquet would more or less look like another's but I've yet to be disappointed at how each groups unique personality shines in their women's events. Tomorrow afternoon I'm headed over to speak for my girlfriend Carrie's church. Several of the women there are great ballfield friends and a few even attended our church's retreat a few weeks back. There is nothing like living in a community

A Banquet, Bamboo And A Whole Bunch Of Extraordinary Food
H’s colleague M, a grand gent with knowledge of all things Eastern, hosted a banquet at his 1930’s house in the French Concession area of Shanghai. This was a part of the city controlled by the French from the 1850’s until 1940’s, when the French and other foreigners cleared out of Shanghai. We walked through a wide alleyway surrounded by older apartment buildings into a walled garden, gently lit by lanterns. We entered the house through a large room divided into dining and living room spaces. Two enormous statues kept guard near the doorways. A beautiful tree (shaped like a giant bonsai) held colorful lanterns of different sizes and shapes which illuminated the room.We moved to the long large roughly hewn wooden table, smartly covered with glass. Dish after dish appeared by the pha

In this great Daryl Rule photo, Adam DiMichele going back to pass on the final play of his football season against Miami of Ohio; in hindsight, looks like a shovel pass to Daryl Robinson would have worked quite nicely instead of the deeper drop but, as they say, hindsight is always 20/20.By Mike GibsonTo no one's surprise, Adam DiMichele was named team MVP at last night's Temple football banquet. There is a terrific recap of the banquet available on the school's official website, Owlsports.com.One of the curiosities coming out of the banquet was junior center Alex Derenthal being named offensive MVP, even though DiMichele also plays offense. Last year, though, Derenthal was named Team MVP so the move was seen as honoring what have been clearly the two offensive leaders so far for head coach Al Golden.Another was that Golden spoke for only five minutes, presumably because there were so few seniors to talk about. The banquet, sold out a month ago, featured a terrific video by Temple stu

Maybe it wouldn‘t be so bad after all? When we arrived at the Church, I found out my group leader had a special table in

This is Banquet Food Court at Causeway Point Shopping Centre. It is on the seventh floor. Behind the food court is the Cinema, Cathay. There are two food courts at Causeway Point Shopping Center, Banquet is cater for the muslims. I prefer Banquet to Food Horizon, at fifth floor. It is colder at Banquet and moving about is easier too. The food court design is nice too. It is new but that does not mean that anything new is nice and good. Food Horizon had undergone renovation, but after reopening, it is not much of difference. There are quite a varieties of food here, fish soup, Japanese food, Yong Tau Foo, Western Food, Cockles Kway Teow, Noodles and so on. Among the food there, I like Cockles Kway Teow, Fried Sambal Fish Fillet and Yong Tau Foo. Richard was always amazed at the big cups of coffee and tea which Banquet serves. Finally on twice occasion, he cannot resist it anymore. He tried a cup of coffee the first time. He did not finish it. He offers me, which I d

Countdown To Banquet: Less Than A Day!!!
This is usually the most stressful time of the summer for my 15-year-old campers, because as banquet planners a day before the big night, there are usually a million more things to do and a million more reasons to stay up 24 hours straight. Thankfully, we were given a break from all of the intense preparation today. Around 11:00 AM, Jerry approached the CA’s with an idea for a hike, and shortly after, we all loaded on to the buses and headed into Pisgah National Forest. After a vigorous drive over narrow, winding dirt roads, we stopped at a pull-off and commenced our hike. Once we made it to a clearing that had a perfect view of Looking Glass, we had a long talk about what the girls were going through, how they were handling CA responsibilities, and we were able to spend some quality time together and relax away from camp. Furthermore, not only did we go for a hike, but we stopped at a swimming hole on the way out of the forest. The drive home was quiet, but I haven’t heard the e

      The Banquet (2006) (Chinese)
(Review from rottentomatoes.) Let’s start with the craftsmanship on “The Banquet.” It’s impeccable. I give the people who worked on the visuals an A, maybe even an A+. You will not find a single frame in this film that wouldn’t make a great wallpaper. The costumes and sets, which are meticulously designed, look amazing. The locations are appropriately picturesque. The two lead actresses even become part of the eye candy. Some of the cinematography look like it came straight from “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” The effects work, mostly used to show off the grandness of the palace, is solid for a Chinese production. There’s also not a single sympathetic character in the film. We’re supposed to be rooting for the late Emperor’s son Wu Luan (Dan Wu) to avenge his father’s death and become the rightful ruler, but he spends most of his time brooding. I’m not sure if Empress Wan (Zhang Ziyi) is sleeping her way to th

So listen, I know a lot of what I post is quite expensive, and as I have said before, quality isn't cheap, and you have to think of great pieces as an investment, and inspiration is key, etc. etc. yadda, yadda. In honour of all that, I wanted to post some great pieces that are not so expensive but still totally fun and cut well. Design and quality are key with me. This is where Betsey Johnson comes in. What's not to love about this crazy awesome chick. She was one of my favorite designers when I was 10 along with Sonia Rykiel, and she has remained my fun-flirty dress go-to since then. You just feel so fun and alive and kind of like anything totally out-of-the-blue exciting could happen when you don one of her frocks. Have fun with clothes girls, you only live once!Below find some totally wild fun pieces for upcoming summer nights, parties, dances, dinner (oh my!) whatever. I have been hooked on conservation banquets and auctions ever since. I get to eat some pretty good food, I get to talk hunting and conservation, I get to donate some money to charities I love and I get to see friends that all believe in the same thing.Next week I am off to Staunton, VA for another banquet and then I have a week off to spend at home and working on huntinglife.com and then I have an NWTF banquet here in Fredericksburg, VA on April 7th, 2007. 21st July - plein air sketching and a banquet
On Friday, Louise and Kathy were in a workshop all day - with Cecile Baird, Gordon was on airport duty and I was determined to get some time for "proper sketching" in the way I normally do - which essentially means on a much larger piece of paper than my Moleskine. However, I'm in a slight quandary with this post - the reason being that the sketches in question are still sitting in California. I left my Saunders Waterford HP pad behind along with some pastel support - and that's being posted to New England rather than coming back to the UK and then back out there again. Unfortunately I 'd done my sketches on the Saunders Waterford and had left the sketches in the pad! So what we have instead are photos (click for larger version) of: the view (rather limited by lack of car and how far I can walk carrying a chair and kit - this is the car park next to the shopping centre near the convention hotel) the set-up - you see I really do take all that kit out with me when I go
