I love this song. It's plaintive recognition of people willing to die for their country (and encourage their son to think similarly) is the closest to a martial virtue post-forties popular music gets.

Robin Fuller narrate us a tale of passion, adultery and murder. The body of a young woman is slowly consumed by insects. This is a gothic tragedy, told from an unusual point of view. The tragic story of her life and eventual demise slowly unfolds as the insects that consume her decaying body become actors in the fateful retelling of her downfall.

I’m ridiculously glad that the light novel phenomenon has reached the U.S. I mean, when you compare most of these popular novel series geared at young adults to their popular American counterparts, you can see a huge difference in quality 80% of the time. So many American young adult series are washed-up, cliched high school, [...]

I've been thinking a lot about this O.J. Simpson robbery case and there is something rotten in Denmark, as the old saying goes!As we all know by now, Simpson, 60, and five other men were arrested after they allegedly stormed a Las Vegas hotel room Sept. 13 to seize items that were believed to include family photos and the suit Simpson wore the day he was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her friend.Well, it was just announced over the last few days that U.S. federal agents learned three weeks in advance that O.J. Simpson and a memorabilia dealer planned an operation to retrieve personal items Simpson said were stolen from him, according to FBI reports obtained Friday by the Associated Press.O.J. Simpson, left, stands in Las Vegas Justice Court for his arraignment on Sept. 19 with his attorney Yale Galanter. Dealer Thomas Riccio told FBI agents Aug. 21 that Simpson wanted to televise the operation as he confronted a collector who was peddling thousands of pieces of Simpson's memo
I wonder how many dogs and cats will die because people are boycotting animal rescue shelters over the Iggy crisis. As I am sure you have heard, Ellen Degeneres adopted a Brussels Griffon mix from a rescue outfit called Moms and Mutts. Maybe she did or maybe she didn't read the fine print. However, I note that Ellen is no stranger to signing six figure contracts, and must be aware of that sneaky fine print. One of the clauses was that Iggy could not be given to anyone else, but if the adoption did not work out he had to be returned to the care of Moms and Mutts.Iggy did not get along with with Eleen and Portia's cats and she gave him to her hairdresser who has eight and eleven year old daughters, who I am sure adored Iggy.Moms and Mutts called up Ellen to check on Iggy and she fessed up how the dog was now with the hairdresser. They went over and yanked young Iggy out of the children's hands and have now placed him with a new family.Ellen was naturally upset, and she broke down

Summary: Harry Potter's just about everywhere this week. Do we need Harry Potter at the grocery store?
I walk into Albertsons to buy a package of chicken breasts, and a wizard hands me a cheap green photocopied flier promoting the new Harry Potter book.
As I move through the aisles, squeezing cherries, thumping cantaloupes, tearing open bags of cookies and kneading mounds of raw hamburger, a woman's voice hustles the new Harry Potter book over the store intercom.
Harry Potter and the Deadly Cupcakes
"Be here at 12:01 a.m. to get the new Harry Potter book," she exhorts in a tone more suited to seafood specials and two-for-one cupcakes. "It's the laaay-est one! Don't be the laaay-est person to get the laaay-est Harry Potter book!"
Similarly, Hyper Nonsense co-host (with husband Shawno) Jen works herself into a nearly hysterical Potter-esque fit as she previews the whi

Wilson v. State is a court case brought about to appeal the aggravated child molestation conviction of Georgia man Genarlow Wilson. Here's a quick re-cap of what has happened so far boys and girls. Genarlow was at a party back when he was seventeen and made it with two, that's right, count em,two girls that night. First he had sex with the older (17) girl and then had the younger (15) girl perform oral sex on him later in the evening. Now instead of becoming a local hero for making it twice during one party the cops got a hold of a tape of the whole thing and started an investigation. As soon as she heard this the older girl yelled she had been raped and this is where the shit hit the fan. (It looks like the girl yelled rape to save being labeled as "loose," but our wayward hero was eventually exonerated of this heinous crime.)But! The cops still had him on tape getting the dirty (oral sex) from the fifteen year old and pressed "aggravated child molestation charges" against him! The "ag
Released in 2002, this album dare not be touted as new, but rather an instant classic. Why am I revisiting such old music? So few people know of this rare beauty, namely Brooklyn Serpico, I felt it my duty to share.Andrew Bird’s The Ballad of the Red Shoes has the magical ability to whisk the listener away to the olde world where pagans and christians danced together in the dark light of the moon. They drink improper beers and go to the tops of mountains to share happiness with the village below. If people are dying of the black death, it is okay because people still believed in heaven. This world was probably fictional just like the lie told about thanksgiving, but how romantic. In my perfect world, Andrew Bird is king. And as he decreed, The Ballad of the Red Shoes may only be listened to with a tall glass of dark beer in the comfort of your mother’s home plaid on vinyl with a box of photographs of people you never really liked, of people you can’t stand. By the end of the recor

I say tradition because the threat of a homicide has made its way to an action that is pending at all times. Physical threats, real or not, were thrust into the cauldron of truth following the sensationalized losses of our champion-poets. As a matter of fact, these fatalities added a certain “Whoa” factor to battles on wax, since murder is always pending now. So in turn with the normalized stance of bodying an opponent is the element of heartbreak along with it, a real life soap opera of sorts.Add brothas losing their lives to fans dropping tears for senseless loss and the result is record sales and intrigue. Recovering Fundamentalists, Episode 111
Date: May 28, 2007
Full episode: Avians, Napoleans and Morris The Cat
Summary: Jews don't preach to nobody, so we're not often in need of toxic religious decompression on the order of Taylor Kent's Snark Infested Waters or Jeri Massi's Recovering Fundamentalists.
Howsomever, I'm always glad to contribute a song to the cause, and Jeri selected The Ballad Of Morris The Cat from the collection plate for a recent episode of her podcast.
The show appears six days a week (with Sundays off for football) as a sort of 15-minute daily devotional, featuring some funny songs, some gospel songs and a shot of scripture.
A subdued Jeri, a bit worn perhaps from contemplation of an impending Newt Gingrich candidacy, narrates.
Hope for battered Christians
"My podcast is an odd duck," Jeri writes. "I try to create a 15-minute haven for people who have been abused in really, really strict and legalistic Christian Fundamentalist churches. So I do that wi

Legendary comedy radio show host Dr. Demento will feature my new recording of The Ballad of Morris The Cat on Saturday and Sunday, August 19-20. Appropriately, the subject of the show is "Cats".
I wrote Morris The Cat some years ago, on news that the 9Lives spokesfeline had passed away. In my song, Morris is buried "in his favorite litter box/With some cans of 9Lives chicken and lox." In television reality, 9Lives soon resurrected Morris for a new series of commercials.
But I didn't know Dr. Demento then, and performed Morris only to amuse friends and co-workers. At the time, my original repertoire included just Morris (which borrows the tempo of Jimmy Dean's "Big Bad John") and the very personal A Boy Named Jew. I soon bagged both songs in favor of newer tunes with original melodies.
My history with Dr. Demento
Dr. Demento spun two of my songs, both from Look What I Made!, a total of five times during 2005. Today Was A Very Good Day appeared on Jan. 9. My Fat Ass Itches followed
