Gasoline prices are hitting an all time high, so even the smallest of airlines is looking at options to reduce cost. The obvious reaction is to start charging and restricting the number of bags you may check in and carry on. The airlines are changing and modifying their policies frequently, so Cheapoair.com recommends you call [...]
We live in a world where one's credit rating speaks volumes and leads to prejudice. In this current market, many apartment owners are unwilling to take a chance on some former homeowners because of major blemishes like foreclosure or numerous past due notices. If losing the American Dream was not hard enough already and humiliating for many, it is the struggle to recover that proves to be the tru
What could be worst, after hours and hours of a very tiring flight journey you found out that your luggage has been sent to another city! The story of luggages getting transferred to another city while the owner is in another city is not a new tale and a missing luggage could even spoil your entire vacation. Though till now, none has come up with a full proof way to totally eradicate the problem,
During my travels all round the world by plane, I was always fascinated on the mechanism relating to the baggage conveyor belt : you know : seeing all the bags and luggage on the conveyor belt coming by one by one in a systematic way. I was especially intrigued by how these heavy clumsy bags [...]

Of all the types of baggage, carryon hand baggage is certainly the most secure, simply because it usually stays with you, or at least it should stay with you, at all times. Therefore, you can give it your own personal attention.
However, it is worth bearing in mind that thieves are very aware that of all [...]
It always seems remarkable how stringent the weight limit on baggage is for airlines. When one looks at the colossal size and weight of the aircraft you intend flying on, an extra couple of jumpers seems unlikely to cause any real great effort as far as getting the machine in the air is concerned.
However, we [...]
Most major U.S. Airlines are now charging $25.00 for a 2nd checked bag, and earlier this week, American Airlines announced, that in addition to the $25.00 2nd checked bag surcharge, it would soon begin assessing a $15.00 surcharge for the first checked bag for passengers who purchase discount economy class tickets.

Returning from Atlanta with Terrence this morning following the Welcome Home party for his first season playing basketball overseas, we noted that gas prices must really be hitting Delta Air Lines hard.
I look around desperate for something to write today. Nothing? I saw an Indian laburnum in bloom outside my house this morning, its flowers had carpeted the floor so that it looked as if there was a...

Today I had an preparation course for my activities during my internship at KLM Groundservices. The course should start at 9 o’clock, but the teacher wasn’t on time. Nobody knew were he was and finally at half past 9 he arrived. He said he had some troubles in a traffic jam. After everybody introduced himself, [...]
For bookings made from 21st April onwards, a fee will apply to all checked baggage. How much? If you pre booked, one baggage RM3, if you didn't book in advance, RM 5 per baggage. Last time, only when your baggage is over weight then only you will be charged for a fee, but now, unless you dun bring anything, or you hand carry it to the plane, else you will be charged. So does that means bookings made before 21st April no need to be charged? Cos i booked my flights beginning of the year, wonder whether I will be charged or not. Now checked in baggage they charged, sooner or later, hand carry also they will charged...~sigh, money money money, everything also money..
Terminal 5 at Heathrow is facing fresh baggage woes. Heathrow's operator BAA found its computer system, which sorts bags before they are loaded onto flights, had malfunctioned and manual sorting has had to be carried out. A spokeswoman described the situation today as "incredibly disappointing" but said the airline was working with BAA to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING? This is all becoming an incurable affliction rather than a minor ailment. It wouldn't be disappointing if British Airways had carried out proper checks in the first place. Most people involved in the dummy runs suggested that it was a calamity waiting to happen. The "Spanish Practices" of BAA don't help either. It is about time this outfit was broken up and proper running of our airpor
Naomi, I feel your pain. There's hardly anything as annoying as having your bag go astray when you're taking a flight. After all, when you're going away, you usually travel with your best clothes and all your makeup. And though...
Baggage problems have hit the Terminal 5 public opening at Heathrow Airport. Some wag employed by British Airways blamed glitches with the bags on problems with "staff familiarisation". Many passengers apparently faced problems with their baggage. A BBC reporter on a flight to Paris said no passenger bags had arrived. Luggage belonging to travellers landing in the UK also failed to arrive. What is it with large companies today? They take the pounds but appear to have little or no interest in customer service. It beggars belief that British Airways, trumpeting this big hangar as the be all and end all of flight delays and passenger problems, sees this cock-up as a lack of "staff familiarisation"!! They've had years to plan to get it right!Do those running the company deserve their top jobs?
Dan Funderburgh worked on a series of patterns for the Gravis company last year and his geographical weather-map camo has ended up on their latest series of baggage. The camo appears for both men’s and women’s styles and come in several colorways all of which are viewable here.

Over the last 15 years Ive done a lot of traveling around the pacific, America and Asia, There has been a couple of occasions where my Luggage has gone to a different destination, Its really a frustrating experience that i wish upon knowbody. All airports around the world are using a relatively outdated form of baggage handling (barcode tracking). But until now thats all that existed. But things are about to change because the Technology is improving.Emirates Airline have announced it is partnering with London Heathrow, Dubai International and Hong Kong International airports, to trial the latest RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology in baggage handling.Emirates will be investing close to AED 2 million, to test the effectiveness and benefits of RFID against the existing barcode
Parents Check Your Emotional Baggage at the Door - It is important for us as parents to be aware of the emotional baggage that we bring from childhood into our children's lives. Unresolved childhood issues can spill over into adulthood, and can have a drastic effect on how adults shape their children. A two year old girl narrowly escaped death when she hopped on to the conveyor belt at Manchester Airport, and was then taken on a hellish ride through the 4 mile long baggage handling system.
It appears the toddler's parents were distracted at the baggage counter, and the tot simply walked through an empty check in desk, stepped on the conveyor belt and managed to sneak into the luggage carousel. While her parents frantic with worry were mounting a search, the girl was making her way through a maze of X-ray machines. She'd gone about half a mile when her clothes caught on the walls of the tunnel, blocking and halting the system. When a staff member went to check up on the blockage, he found the girl inside, bruised, but safe.
Airport staff members say it's nothing short of a miracle she survived. Had she made it further through the maze, she would have been decapitated by the metal arms that sort bags into separate dispatch areas, to be loaded on to different flights.
I admit I feel a twinge of guilt when I am at the grocery store and the checker asks if I would prefer paper or plastic. Either way you go you are either killing a tree or filling a landfill. One of the easiest and most basic things we can do to save trees and prevent waste from non-biodegradable bags is to use reusable bags to take our stuff home in. Fortunately, I have recently discovered a reusable grocery tote that is actually VERY cute and chic! Envirosax are eco-friendly and reuseable, and they actually have me excited about the idea of using them, unlike the previous reusable bags I have seen that look like a plain jane potato sack with shoulder straps. Get me looking at it as an accessory and I am that much more likely to use it! Which is the point, right? The designs are truly cool. In the graphic series, there are 5 sets of designs. You can purchase single bags for $8.50, or you can choose the pouch, which has 5 coordinating bags of your chosen design set, that all fit into a

Sick of turning up at LAX, only to find your luggage has been sent to JFK? We hear you. And so too does IBM.
That’s why the computer company long known as Big Blue has come out with a new robotic baggage handling system that, it says, will cut down on the amount of lost baggage being transferred between connecting flights, as well as improve connection times and cut down on operating costs.
Of course, an added benefit that IBM doesn’t mention is, robots don’t go through your underwear and steal your digital camera. At least, not yet.
Under the new system, each piece of luggage is tagged with an RFID chip – a miniscule computer chip that holds a tracking number. Wal-Mart already uses them in keeping track of their deliveries (rip a box of $4 Made-in-China sandwich grills apart and, eventually, you’ll find the little guy), and IBM and Vanderlande Industries see the new tracking technology as the perfect way for their robots to send your luggage to the destination it’s suppose
As customers, often than not, we can be very critical of the services we pay for. We can get really cranky if things don’t go as well as we expect. But what’s it like to be on the other side? To be the one who provide the service?
I came across two articles online that gives us an insight on the lives of flight attendants and baggage handlers.

Luggage left behind: Check in at least 30 minutes before the flight. Any later than that and your bag will probably miss the plane. Sympathetic ticket agents sometimes call and ask us to swing back and pick up late bags, so you might want to beg them for help.
Most times, bags are delayed or lost for other reasons. Depending on the airport, luggage is sorted by the three-letter destination code, flight number, or both. (The ticket agent usually tears off bag tags from old trips, but it can’t hurt to rip them off yourself to avoid confusion.) There was one day when a delayed flight
I started thinking about this post in the morning. It was the inner child talking, telling me that I am crap, that I scare off everybody I have a relationship with, that I am too jealous, that nobody can seriously love me, and everybody are just pretending that they like me. Sometimes, I am so caught up in this emotion that I really belive it is true, and when I am there, it is very hard to reach me.I caught myself damaging my relationship with my Love yesterday. I got jealous of something I had created in my own head and my Love was completly innocent, but still I blamed him for something that was just in my head. About 15 min after it had happend I realized what I had done, I just wish that I could catch myself before I get sucked into the emotion, and before I damage what I value so high. This is what I hate the most about having been wrongly programmed when growing up. It is still affecting me, and maybe it will affect me my whole life. I hate that I have to struggle to break patter

Relationships are quite possibly the most complicated things on the earth. We do our best to break them down and simplify them but there are so many variables that it extremely difficult to do.Love is such a small part of it all. Love in many ways often serves as a complication. You love someone and want to be with them so you allow yourself to stay regardless of the things that are wrong, the needs that are left unfulfilled. Your dream is that they will suddenly want to fulfill those dreams. Things will change. You will be happy with them and love will prevail. This thinking gets many of us in trouble. Yet it's because we love. The conflict eventually arises out of love for ourselves and love for this other person. This is when we do one of three things, we leave, we ask our partner to fill our needs, or we do the unthinkable and find someone else on the side who will fill our needs. You see we are all human. All of our "relationship sins" can be easily broken down and explained. Ev
When I first moved to Tokyo, I found myself getting lost quite often. I once tried to locate a Kinko’s store in the heart of the city, but instead spent an hour wondering aimlessly through a maze of unmarked city blocks. Before I left my home, I made sure I wrote down the trio of numbers pinpointing the location of that particular business (5-22-1 Shinjuku). When I got off the train, I tried to use the area maps located near the station, but unlucky for me, they were all in Kanji. After spending five minutes standing mystified in front of the map, I decided to do what any red-blooded American guy would do: "wing it". After about half an hour and as I was walking by the exact spot I'd been just 10 minutes ago, I was thoroughly confused and cursing under my breath. I was feeling a bit annoyed with myself, but I quelled my anxiety by taking a moment to embrace the scene around me. I thought to myself, “I’m in Japan. For the first time in my life, I’m living in another
I learned an interesting little thing while flying from San Francisco to Richmond, Va this weekend. Sometimes switching from American Airlines to American Eagle (regional carrier that operated the Chicago to Richmond leg of the flight), results in wayward bags. My bag has been lost since Friday morning at 8am, and the airline still cannot even tell me where it is - despite the fact that I was able to give them my baggage claim ticket. I left San Francisco on Thursday at 1:30 am on a red eye, and the bag has not been scanned since! Crazy!
But getting a live human being on American Airlines’ 800 number for lost baggage is not easy. My husband (whose bag thankfully did arrive) discovered this trick today, and I thought I’d share it with you should you also find yourself five hours from attending someone’s wedding and lacking a cocktail dress, shoes, shampoo, makeup, jewelry and both of your coats.
Speak gibberish!
It’s that easy. Start seaking nonsense into the
The nation’s major airports would be beneficiaries of one of the biggest aviation security upgrades since 9/11 — as much as $7 billion for state-of-the-art baggage screening — under legislation recently approved by the House and Senate. Key to the new system are bomb-detection machines built onto conveyor belts that can screen luggage [...]
This is a quick reminder for travelers to and from Australia of the new cabin baggage restrictions which are now in effect. Anyone from the UK, Europe and the US will probably already be familiar with the restrictions, but for those to whom this is all new, here’s a run down:
All liquids, gels, pastes, creams or aerosols in cabin baggage must be carried in containers of 100ml
These items must be carried in a clear plastic bag, separate to other cabin luggage
The maximum allowance is 1 liter per person
Exception is made for baby food and prescription medicine, if proof of need can be shown
Any items in excess of the above most be packed in checked baggage, or be surrendered at security check points. Girls, don’t forget your make-up, I have been pulled up for liquid lip gloss, lip stick and hand lotion.
Now for the all important question - what about my duty free purchases?
Don’t panic, anything you purchase or collect from inside the security checkpoint is all
I'm ready to go! Photo by Mikenan1. I carried the duffle bag into the bathroom and set it down on the floor. I pulled open the top drawer in the chest of drawers next to Alleke's changing table. With hands spread wide like salad tongs, I picked up handfuls of baby clothes and dropped them in the duffle bag. I emptied all the drawers. I zipped up the duffle bag and carried it into the living room. I drug a hamper into the bathroom and filled it with Alleke's dirty clothes. I drug it back into the living room. I grabbed one of our backpacks from the couch. I walked back into the bathroom. I unzipped the backpack and set it on the changing table. I pulled the wicker basket full of cloth diapers out from under the table. I lifted it over the backpack, turned it up-side-down, and shook all the diapers out. I zipped up the backpack and brought it to the living room. All of Alleke's things were out of the bathroom, so I walked into the bedroom. A pile of half-sorted
