Nueces County Republicans’ Trashy Tactics Backfire
The Republicans Party in Nueces County is doing their best to attack State Reps. Juan Garcia (D-Corpus Christi) and Abel Herrero (D-Robstown) in hopes of damaging the pair in anticipation of the November general election. And, as usual, the GOP’s smear tactics have backfired in fine fashion. The Nueces County GOP sent out a mailer in Nueces County demanding that Garcia and Abel return contri

Why even sending Bruce Wayne into MIA status could backfire
A writer at Broken Frontier looked at the whole plan of "Batman RIP" a few days ago, and like me, he too feels that it's a bad idea. With the next Batman film scheduled to come out in a few weeks, I think that's partly why it could misfire, because if the audience were to try out the latest comics, they'd expect to see Bruce Wayne at work under the cowl. Aside from that, it appears to h

      Obama's Attacks on Edwards Backfire
Presidential contender Senator Barack Obama released an opposition research paper on John Edwards in response to requests from a local union (United Auto Workers Region 4.) It was full of cheap shots; one of which may come back to haunt the "positive" candidate. From an ABC News blog; The cheapest shot ... that Edwards somehow has something to do with Whirlpool when the company was closing down Maytag plants in Iowa, Illinois, and Arkansas. Why is that a cheap shot? Because the link is that Edwards worked for the controversial Fortress Hedge Fund while it owned stock in Whirlpool as it was shutting down those plants. But some argue a far more direct link exists between Obama and those plants shutting down. It's not one I agree with -- I think both are silly attempts to link candidates to lost jobs -- but I think the one linking Obama to the Crown family to those lost jobs is slightly less ridiculous. The Crown family -- Lester, Renee, James, Paula -- have been supporters, fundraisers,

      Extreme Green Will Backfire
Happy Blog Action Day! Mark my words.  Green is good but the extremists and those with a political agenda will turn off more people than any they will inspire to be a bit more green personally if they over dramatize…  “Disclosing Global Warming?  WTF?” WTF?  World Trade Federation? Is it a trade issue too? Or does  WTF mean “Where’s The Fire?” in a Technorati hot topic sense?  Or is “WTF?” the common phrase I really always think of when I see “WTF?”  In Disclosing Global  Warming  WTF? Jay Thompson, The Phoenix Real Estate guy links to Jennifer in Minneapolis worrying about disclosing global on the coasts.  I tried to get in on the conversation on Jennifer’s blog but don’t see my comment there.      I must not have made the cut.    Jennifer wrote:   “I was recently reading a post on Active Rain about Global Warming. The author wrote that he believes it is real estate agents duty to

      The Backfire at Work
[Friday, 15 June, 2007]I had a tedious chat with Kimmy through MSN where we completed to outwit each other and followed by discussion about our company. Work was in progress all along and after she went offline, I continued until 3.30am.Daily morning routine proceeded. This morning, I started with the weekly report right after reaching the office. Many people would certainly hate me for repeating “Any updates” to each unanswered post as their mailboxes would be flooded with the auto mailer. Even though I had tried very hard to speed up with the work, it could not be finished in half a day.Liza’s keyboard was giving her problems and she removed all the buttons to clean them and it was quite an interesting morning.Lunch was at PSA again and I bought food from the two dollars Chinese mixed vegetarian rice stall again. After eating, I used the remaining energy to crap with Wei Yeow and Eugene until Wei Yeow could not stand me and joined the guys at the other end of the table. My accu

      Backfire!
It's a sad day in America when a good, honest, down-home bigot can't escape the evil homosexuals and their "ways." At least that's how some residents of Meade, Kansas are feeling right about now. This is an amazing story for a number of reasons, here it is in a nutshell:A couple from southern California, J.R. and Robin Knight, move to Meade, KS to open a B&B. No they aren't a gay couple, no it isn't a gay B&B. It's a heterosexual couple and a regular run of the mill B&B in a small Kansas town. The couple's 12-year-old son (who still lives in CA) came across a rainbow flag at a store and purchased it for his parents because it had pretty colors. Even though the parents knew it was a gay rights symbol, they put it up anyway to remind them of their son and as a showcase for his thoughtful gift. And that's when it all went haywire.Needless to say, many members of the town went into a coniption fit over the idea that there might be a gay-friendly inn in town. What stated out

Tom Keane: Green Policies Lead to “Environmental Backfire”
While Boston Globe columnist Tom Keane wants to save the planet as much as the next guy, he's fed-up with green policies that make things worse. To wit: Logan Airport's new policy blessing hybrids with preferential parking-- which encourages people to drive to the airport rather than use mass transit. Keane attacks other green laws: prohibitions against urban density (that push sprawl to the 'burbs), Brookline's proposal to double excise taxes on SUVs (which can be more fuel efficient than cars), carpool lanes (which slow down the majority of drivers and create more pollution), cloth diapers (whose cleaning requires more energy than disposables "in some cases") and carbon trading (which encourages consumption by relieving guilt). Kean's rant against "environmental backfire" is a welcome sign that common sense may finally be entering the debate over planet-saving public policy. And if you believe that, I've got a hydrogen-powered BMW 7-Series I&#
