      babble
I have decided to take a few days off to catch up on my blog reading*.I feel so out of touch, so behind on what's going on that my head spins each time I wade into my reader (that's right, I still haven't done the massive dump, run, and start from scratch). There is a need for me to catch up, read, and enjoy/cry-over someone else's news and stories. It's easy to be lazy lately. It's hotter than a sna

Random Morning Babble from a Patio Deck in the Heartland of America
This morning is one of those perfect mornings. The temperature is literally.... perfect. The sky? Beautiful baby blue with puffy white clouds. The sound of birds singing, the gentle breeze, the smell of the fresh morning air in the Midwest is scented with the mingling aroma of many flowers. And I'm here. On my deck, feet propped up on a bench with a patio cushion at my back... sipping my

Interview with Mompreneur Aruni Gunasegaram of Babble Soft
I had a chance to talk with Aruni Gunasegaram, the owner of Babble Soft, a company offering software for new parents. The whole concept sounded so interesting to me, that I wanted to know more, especially after reading all the reviews thankful parents had written about Babble Soft products. Katja: Tell us about Babble Soft.Aruni: Babble Soft offers web and mobile software tools that facilitate communication between caregivers by enabling them to record information about feedings, baby sleep, diaper changes, medicine intake, and immunization records as well as provides breastfeeding support, pumping, and medicine dose schedules for Mom. We also offer the ability for parents to create a baby first year album with milestones and family tree.Katja: Wow, that sounds amazing, I remember how th

The first of the "Give Me My Damn Money" emails was sent this morning... and let's see what else I can babble about
You would think, having been attempting to get this mornings Coffee Talk blog post finished for two hours that I would have something by now, eh? LOL. Well, I also have a "To Do" list in front of me with no less than 15 items on it so needless to say every time I started to open a window to post I got busy with something else. On the flip side I've already scratched off 4 items from my list

War in the Playground: Babble Bullies Offsprung
Guys, things are getting nasty: 2 parenting websites are clashing in the playground. And I'm taking a side.Babble did a bad, bad thing. If you read this blog you may notice I often refer to Offsprung, a parenting website whose motto is "because your life didn't end when theirs began." I like Offsprung, and I like their parenting forum, called "The Playground," where open conversations can be mildly addictive and where I even hosted a virtual Parents' Night Out complete with real cocktails. But since Offsprung's been up a while now, one can only imagine why Babble (which has been around even longer) has suddenly seen fit to debut the Babble Playground. Another online forum for a parenting site? Fine. But calling it "The Playground"?Babble can hardly claim ignorance of Offsprung and its playgr

Short Stories (another babble about this)
Anyone reading about science fiction right now will undoubtedly have heard about the demise of the short story market. I think of all the forms that science fiction (and fantasy) comes in, the short form is the one that is most likely to die as a viable market. Anthologies and collections will still be around, but the magazine market, I think, is in serious danger of going away. The sad part of this is that the science fiction short has such an amazing history. Some of the first stories in science fiction were short stories! Go back to the days of Astounding, IF, Galaxy, Imaginative Tales, etc. I certainly wasn't alive when those magazines were initially running, but I am such a sucker for what I would call 'historical science fiction', meaning SF that is of historical import to the genre. I even have some twenty years worth of back issues from the early days of Analog to today. I certainly have not read all of them, but I have read a good portion and I love them to death. So

Crabmommy on Babble...And Crabtot's Turning Three
The delightful Redsy, also known as Crankmama (and hence a mom after my own crabby heart) saw fit to drive up my traffic today by showcasing my tampon wiener at Babble, a site I once trashed for its fetching hipster CEOs on video, and before which I now grovel. Watch those Crabhit numbers soar. Yay!ANDThis is Crabtot's last night of being two. Overheard:Crabhubby: "Goodnight, two-year-old!"Crabtot: "Goodnight, 40-year-old!"Not posting tomorrow but see my "birthday newsletter" at the Cookiemag bloglet. It's not what you think.

      Tech-Know-Babble
I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says, "My other car is a Brand Spanking New Model 2.0 Blog." Many of you know that I am a total gadget, widget, and techy kinda guy. When I'm not out trying to find title orders and escrows, or helping my clients find buyers and sellers, I like to dabble with "new" technology, and try to find ways to increase my clients marketing skills with all that's available out there in the cyber-world. This past week, I have spent most of my extra time creating an outside Blog. One that will focus on Technology and Marketing for the Real Estate Industry. As some of you will recall, I crashed my Active Rain Blog with too many widgets a few months back! So, I have been working on this site to give you more tools, services, tips, widgets, gadgets, advice, target marketing ideas, and much more of what you're use to seeing me provide here on AR. I spent more time just trying to come up with a name for this Blog, and then it came to me last night in my s

Speak to the Customer, Don’t Babble!
In my experiences in the eCommerce business, I have learned a lot of useful tips and tricks to make business interactions more friendly and less confusing. Today, I plan to share one of these tips with you. Most online business owners think they have to talk to everyone they meet or interact with using their fancy industry-specific lingo. However, I will bluntly state: Speak to the Customer, Don’t Babble! You may be wondering, “what is the difference?” so I will now explain what the difference is and why you should not babble! When I talk with my clients, I never sit there and use harsh, confusing terms that they may not understand. It makes the whole process longer and complicating. Therefore, I always talk to my clients on a personal level. Instead of saying “Our company has mastered marketing…”; I simply say “I have been in the marketing business and learned the in-and-outs…” There is no need for the hefty lingo. None! Don’t do it! Cl

      AGLOCO Babble and Referral Tips
I have only known about AGLOCOâ„¢ for about 12 days now, but I feel like it has been longer than that. I have discussed and argued aspects of it on forums. I told family and friends about it with the help of other websites. I have used some unique means of advertising it. And I even decided to create an AGLOCO blog (Yer lookin at it). AGLOCO has taken much of the Internet world by storm, but with mixed reactions. Some people have signed up, but have not began recruiting for various reasons (i.e. waiting for the Viewbar to be released). While others have only told the people they know personally (i.e. family, friends). However, some have really gone all out to reach everyone that might listen to the AGLOCO Vision, and to get their networks larger than any other. While most of these AGLOCO Top Gun’s play by the rules, others have been annoyed at some of these “entrepreneurs” spamming their websites and email boxes. (AGLOCO has a strict spam policy, if you are recieving

      American Idol babble
I am so ready for the auditions to be over! I can’t believe we have another week of auditions until we get to the Hollywood rounds. Next Tuesday night is San Antonio and Wednesday is the Best of the Rest episode. Ugh. It’s time to get this show on the road, people. As for this weeks auditions I haven’t seen anybody memorable yet. I liked Brandon the backup singer and that’s about it. I think Paula liked him too. She was giving him the googly eyes.  Oh at the chubby kid with the fro was good too.  I think he auditioned in Birmingham. And I could kick myself but I’ve been reading the spoilers for top 24 over at Idolforums. Why do I do this?

Random Babble on a Tuesday Morning
The girl child had to be up early and out the door for Show Choir practice this morning so here I sit... in the kitchen at the island, the house quiet but the roar of snow blowers outside to serenade me. Yes, apparently it snowed again last night. Who knew!? I hadn't a clue.Puppy Love: Well, BabyGirl is still 'torn'. She is really enjoying the time she spends talking to the new guy, who makes her laugh and they have a great time, but she is still in love with Ex-Boyfriend. And, he with her, although the Little Blonde that he works with is still in the picture. It's hard to stand back and watch he and her both still wanting to hang on to each other... he text's her often just to ask "What RU Doin" and they chat on computer at night while doing homework. I checked out her myspace page and she has put up a new song."Teardrops on my Guitar" by Taylor Swift. Sigh. I wouldn't be surprised if they get back together... they both still adore the other and are both trying to f

I have a job interview today and I do not feel the slightest bit like going. It's not nerves. It's more... well, apathy. Not apathetic towards the company. No, this is a company I would love to get my foot in the door with and this position could do that for me. Apathetic towards the whole job-search in general. I don't want to interview for any job right now. I really really want to finish the next two weeks at my current job, get someone trained in and then take at least 3 or 4 weeks 'off' to do nothing but reconnect with my home, my family and myself. This company is one I've been interested in for about a year and a half and they almost never have openings. This opening came up at just the right time... but yet, I don't really care. And that worries me! All I can think about is finishing up the current job and then takin
