two days ago Santogold hit up the always amazing BBC Radio 1 show Live Lounge. i'm not gonna lie, i'm not sure what i would do without that show - it's quite honestly one of the best i've ever heard on radio. and no, i don't do part-time promotion for 'em... i genuinely mean that. they just consistently get the hottest artists up there to do the hottest live performances of the hottest tracks. all

As a fan of the current affairs and comedy output of Radio Four (along with the rest of my family) I've been thinking about the station's interactivity.BBC Listen Again, like the iplayer, is excellent. Unlike 4OnDemand, it requires no downloads and therefore can be used from any machine. I can use the iplayer while writing a blog post in the university library. I can't do that with 4OnDemand.Howev

This morning I had the pleasure of appearing on BBC Radio Tees to talk about Curvety & my views on Chloe Marshall, the first ever size 16 Miss England finalist.It was a pleasure to put my opinions across to the North of England, and do my little bit in promoting real women in the fashion and modelling industries. Although very pleased, I am also a little surprised by the effect Chloe has had on the public.For the first time in as long as I can remember it seems that the more curvy among us have someone to get behind and support in an industry usually lacking in larger representatives. It also seems to have given curvy women a bit of a boost, and the energy to stand up and say 'I'm proud of who I am'.In my opinion one of the reasons is that it is the first time a real size women has app

==Difference between Radio 4 FM and LW==
==Difference between Radio 4 FM and LW==
It appears that there has always been programming differences between these two sub-networks. Originally, the FM network's variations were material of lesser importance than the then primary LW network, but then after more FM transmitters were installed and the original Radio 5 launched, the inverse became the case. I don't know the details, but I think this is important enough to be mentioned prominently. The so called "Scud FM" was less of a separate station as some current Wikipedia references suggest, and more just Radio 4 FM during the Gu

I have taken part in many radio interviews about home exchange over the years, mainly on BBC local radio stations in the UK. Most interviews are conducted live by phone, sometimes in a studio in Broadcasting House in London linked to the local station and, very occasionally, at the actual radio station. Generally though, local radio stations are looking for people who live in the area covered to come into the studio and discuss their exchange experiences. This, of course, makes for a better, more natural discussion, often with questions taken from listeners during the programme.
A number of Home Base Holidays members have taken part in live broadcasts and our most recent volunteers are long time members, Jo and Roger, from the pretty English village of Cookham Dean in Berkshire. I was delighted when Jo let me know that she and Roger were going into the BBC Radio Berkshire studio last Tuesday afternoon to take part in an interview about their home exchange experiences. I knew that t
Former Haçienda resident DJ Mike Pickering, the icon of the early-90s 'Madchester' acid house movement, and Radio 1 resident Pete Tong celebrated Tony Wilson this week with a two-hour Essential Mix special on UK's BBC Radio 1.Tony Wilson (1950-2007) was a British record label owner, radio presenter, TV show host, nightclub manager, impresario and journalist.
"Mr. Manchester," as the Manchester Evening News dubbed him in its recent report, was the man who put Manchester on the map by bringing Joy Division, Happy Mondays, and New Order to the world. Wilson was the founder and manager of the legendary Manchester nightclub Fac 51 Haçienda (better known as simply The Haçienda) and was also one of the five co-founders of Factory Records.
He died of a heart attack in Manchester's Christie Hospital on Friday, August 10th 2007 aged 57.
In the first part Tong presents the very best of Factory Records with tracks from the likes of New Order, Joy Division, and Happy Mondays. Mike Pick
And according to Mr. West, ‘Big Brother’ is one of his greatest tracks of all time — his tribute/homage to the big homie, Jay-Z. I really respect how Ye’ treats his music, is real evident how much he values his own joints, as he should. I’m sure the brotha is real stringent regarding leaks and what not, notice up untill now we really haven’t heard more then 3 tracks from the album, and 2 of them already have videos. Where on the other hand Curtis has relatively a third of his album already online. Thats not a way to build anticipation folks. “Graduation” in stores 9.11, and watch the video after the break. British duo Tom Findlay and Andy Cato, together as Groove Armada, provide this weeks Essential Mix on UK's BBC Radio 1.
"Because we've been locked away in the rehearsal room, we phoned our favourite record shops and they sent bags of new records over to the rehearsal place. So then it was just a case of getting on top of a lot of new music very quickly. There was a certain amount of chaos about it, but I think out of that chaos it's got a really nice sound," Cato says on the GA blog.Continue reading "Download: Groove Armada - BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, 2007-03-18">

BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 are facing some tough issues. The licensing fee that funds the government-owned broadcasters is facing probable reductions, and the competition from other public broadcasting outfits is getting more and more fierce as the overall pie dwindles. John Plunkett at The Guardian UK reports:
