A finales del mes pasado comentamos que la BAFTA había publicado la lista de títulos nominados a sus premios en las distintas categorías de videojuegos. Pues bien, esos galardones ya han sido concedidos y Wii Sports ha arrasado totalmente. De hecho, se ha llevado premios incluso de categorías en las que creo que no pintaba nada. La BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) lleva ya varios años concediendo galardones a los mejores videojuegos. Me gustan estas iniciativas porque parecen dar una pátina de respetabilidad a esto de los videojuegos. No hablamos de unos premios cutres concedidos de forma casi clandestina, sino de una gala de esas con trajes formales, pajaritas, discursos y estatuillas. Los nominados de este año ya han sido anunciados y aunque la lista parece bastante equilibrada, hay una gran sorpresa: Halo 3 no aparece por ninguna parte. Tenéis los nominados tras el salto. Daniel Craig had all his chips on the table at the Bafta's for Casino Royale the new James Bond movie but it was one bet that he could not win as out of the nine nominations that the movie was up for, it could only manage to win one and that was for sound, not worth much then The award that Daniel had his hopes on was Best Actor but that bet did not go his way either and the award went to Forest Whitaker instead for his role in The Last King of Scotland Daniel should not be to bothered about not winning because at least he has been acknowledged for his role as James Bond which is a great achievement

Actors have known for a while about their numerous nominations at the Bafta's, but now the time has come as the Bafta ceremony kicks of tonight at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and to add a little to the stress that they must be feeling right now they must be a bit on edge as they will not have the very professional words from Stephen Fry to host the ceremony, that is now left to the sharp and witty Jonathan Ross who will no doubt add a little bit of spice to the evening Films that are set to do well this year are The Queen with 10 nominations, Casino Royale with 9 nominations, Pan’s Labyrinth with 8 nominations, Babel with 7 nominations, The Departed with 6 nominations, Little Miss Sunshine with 6 nominations and United 93 which also has 6 nominations

As mentioned a few weeks ago here at TCF, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was honored to have receieved nominations at the Children's BAFTAs for two categories, one including "Best Film". Although it lost in that particular category to Wallace and Gromit, it did happen to win the online vote for favorite film of the year!
