I received an email from Sam Harris today urging everybody to pledge money to help support Ayaan Hirsi Ali's security detail. Due to the threat on her life, she has 24 hour a day guards and the cost is financially prohibitive. This is an important project to support in order to ensure the protection of the world's most prominent opponent of Islamic fundamentalism. If you are unaware of her work, here is a video playlist of many of her public appearances.
Kudos to Sam Harris for setting this up and spreading the word about this inspiring woman. We'll be making our donation soon. The important details are below as reposted from this page of Sam's website:

She's got a new interview in the International Herald Tribune (via Hot Air):
Dutch author Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the target of death threats for her criticism of radical Islam, says Muslims must demonstrate their anger when terrorism is committed in the name of religion, just as they did last year when newspapers published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
Muslims must make a moral choice to defy

Allahpundit at Hot Air presents a press release from AEI for how to provide funds for Hirsi Ali's safety:
Providing Financial Assistance for Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s Security Detail
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, former Dutch parliamentarian and an outspoken defender of women’s rights in Islamic societies, is at risk from a variety of extremist threats in both Europe and the United States. She has needed constant
The brave critic of Islam is now back in the US again, and this time, she's thankfully got security funding to back her (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin). But is Holland retreating on their image as a free country that they'd seemed to cultivate in the years gone by?
Last week, the Dutch government abruptly cut off her security funding, forcing her to return briefly to Holland.
The reasons given were
Dutch politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali returned to the Netherlands, from the United States because she can no longer be protected in that country. The Dutch government has stopped paying for her protection in the U.S. as of October 1, and the American government is not willing to pay for her security any longer.Hirsi Ali left for the United States in 2006 in order to work for the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.. Now she has returned back to the Netherlands and she will continue for the American think tank. The Dutch government has agreed to continue paying for her protection, now that she is back on Dutch soil.Hirsi Ali has needed protection because she has been uttering critical remarks on Islam for which she received several threats. Ali wrote the script for Submission, a movie about the Muslim culture and its treatment of women in 2004. Shortly after, Theo Van Gogh, the creator of the film was assassinated by Muslim extremists who also threatened to kill Ali.
I remember when my left brothers and sisters, the ones who usually find fault with Christians at the drop of a Mitre, erupted in a self-righteous indignity at the Pope's (here and here for some examples though the one I had in mind is in internet heaven along with Martini Nation) quoting of Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus, a critic of Islam some four hundred years ago, during a speech at the University of Regensburg. I wondered why the left thought it was justified in attacking the religious leader of, what’s now, certainly, a peaceful force in the world, Catholicism, while believing, at the same time, that it was contemptible for the Pope to reflect on Islam’s sometimes violent past. Did they think that negative comments about another religion were bad, in and of themselves? That couldn’t be the case since, as I mentioned earlier, those condemning the Pope had a history of attacking Christianity. Did they think Islam less worthy of contempt than Christianit
Poor Ayaan Hirsi Ali. After losing her home, some of her political opponents now want her deported because she lied on her asylum application when she fled to the Netherlands in 1992 to escape an arranged marriage... AP story.
Hot Air reports on the bad news. Really a set-back into dhimmitude for the Netherlands. If only they spent as much energy into getting the stalkers! I guess that's not PC enough.Via Peaktalk, the story of Ayaan Hirsi Ali just gets worse. Hirsi Ali is the Somali-born Dutch parliamentarian whose outspokenness on the rights of women under Islam has made her a marked woman. Islamists have issued a fatwa calling for her death. And now she's been evicted by court order at the request of her neighbors, who find her security concerns a nuisance. The Dutch court used superseding European law as the basis of its ruling: The court considers in its ruling that the neighbors have been put into a situation that has contributed to them feeling less safe in their own house. That feeling is extended to the communal living spaces of the apartment complex, but also to their own apartments. The court argues that this is a severe violation of one's private life (as per Article 8 of the European Treaty f
Hirsi Ali was interviewed recently on Alan Colmes' show on FOX. Hot Air has the video. She's also got a new book coming out called Infidel. It's a little odd that that's the title, given that if it's primarily about her life, then surely "Apostate" would be a more ideal title.
While CAIR's attack on Hirsi Ali was bad enough as it was, it's also bad that the AP is trying to sanitize what they said. Hot Air features the two quotes, one posted early in the morning, the other posted later.
