"After meeting with Joel, we mutually agreed that the best decision for both parties involved is to go separate ways," said Avalanche Executive Vice President & General Manager Francois Giguere. "On behalf of the organization, I want to thank Joel for his years of service and wish him the best in his coaching career." I'm not sure which part of Giguere's brain thought up this idea. Quenneville, who was in the last year of his contract, had coached the Avalanche to a 131-92-23 record in his 3-year tenure, and this year led them past the Wild in round 1 only to be swept by Detroit in round 2. The roster was depleted most of the time this year yet Quenneville still got this gutsy bunch into the playoffs. How far could you expect the Avs to go without Stastny, Smyth and Forsberg (half the time

"We had about six chances to get it out," said Luongo after tonight's game. "Either we shot it off our own guys or we didn't get it out. Next thing you know, a shot from the point and Sakic's alone on the side.I was able to get the first save and he chipped it over me for the second one. It's unacceptable, inexcusable. That should never happen, especially in an important game like that."In such a tight game there was no room for error, and poor Ryan Kesler was going to pass the puck generously to a teammate in his own zone that could charge up the ice and put it into the open net. Unfortunately that was a turnover and the Avs put serious pressure on the Canucks in their zone for several seconds with time ticking down. Joe Sakic, career Canuck killer tapped in a rebound goal with only 15 s

My friend Rani pointed me to this COOL local story about a pet labrador who was carried away by an avalanche and who survived out in the snowy wilds of Montana for a week. Not bad for a pampered pet pooch, eh? You have to see the adorable photo of Lizxie (the dog), she's too cute!
Basically Lizxie was out with her humans and got caught in an avalance - I can only imagine how awful the dad felt, watching his terrified dog pulled away in a swirl of fast-moving snow. He looked for her but eventually gave her up as dead, so he wasn't too hopeful when someone called to say she'd been found. Turns out she'd survived the avalanche and made her way down the mountain and was eventually found about 5 miles away, a bit skinnier and with a few cuts and bruises, but otherwise fine.
Thank goodness
The Tel Aviv Real Estate 15 Index lost a further 1.23% today, a decline which now leaves it 40% adrift of the high it reached in May 2007. Much has been written about this sector in the past year but as the new year begins, the performance by real estate stocks can be summed up in one word - a bubble. This, however, does not contradict the fact that the current slump in share prices in this sector will probably create quite a few buying opportunities in the future. But that is how it works on the market.
Still don't have time to do up an in-depth pre-game post. The Canucks have won both games against the Avalanche this season so far. But combine a hard-fought win over the Coyotes last night with their super ability to look tired after consecutive road games and the possibility of Luongo taking the night off (my guess, but maybe he won't because of the Xmas layoff), and here's what you get:Who knows, though. The Avs do not have Smyth or Sakic in their lineup. If the Avs win, they tie us in points, but claim #1 spot in the Northwest, as they have played one less game, and have scored 10 more goals than us.It's going to be a great game.Game Time: 5:00 PSTTV: Sportsnet PacificT Tags: Canucks Avalanche Preview Northwest+Division
So, I guess the panic button can be put away into a box and stuffed into a closet for now. The Canucks have won 3 in a row now, and even got that elusive home win. The Nucks are 500 now, 8-8-0. They are 5 points ahead of the Oilers, separating the good from the ugly, and in 7th spot in the Western Conference. Holy hell. What a difference a good week makes. The team looks to be settling down now. The confidence is there. They are playing the system well. And what the hell, the Sedins-Naslund line is dangerous! They are also getting bounces. Hank's OT goal went off an Avalanche player's skate (hint: not point a 'finger' at anyone).Luongo was super sharp once again.Yup, we're back on track. "We got together as a group and we simplified our game a whole lot," said Henrik post game. "We put pucks in areas where we know it's going to end up. In the first 10 or 11 games we tried to force things. We tried to make a lot of plays." Is it just me or does Trevor Linden look his age out there?

Versatility is the name of this game.
The Avalanche would be just another four-door pickup if it weren’t for the folding partition that separates the passenger compartment from the cargo bed. So, although the news for 2007 is that it’s now underpinned by GM’s new GMT900 full-size-truck platform, the stuff that makes it an Avalanche remains. That center partition is called the Midgate, and it also has a removable rear window. Also returning is the three-panel, hard-plastic cover that turns the 63.3-by-50.0-inch truck bed into a lockable trunk. These pieces — the window, the Midgate, and the bed cover — can be removed or folded independently, which makes for several cargo-carrying possibilities. For example, when the rear seats are folded, the Midgate, which is hinged at the floor, can be opened onto the rear seats, thus extending the length of the pickup bed. Drop the Midgate, but leave the rear window and bed cover in place
I am not admitting to being a hockey fan or anything crazy like that, but I did make it a point to watch Red Wings - Avalanche games back in the late 90’s because there was sure to be a fight. And as everybody knows, hockey fights are phenomenal because the ref’s just let them go as long as its an even match-up. And the best part is, most of these big fights occurred in the playoffs.

Overview The Chevy Avalanche has been redesigned and re-engineered for 2007 and the new version is vastly superior to its predecessor. The new Avalanche rewards its driver with taut handling. It's well designed throughout with impressive attention to detail. The previous-generation Avalanche was good. This new one is better. The Avalanche is and always has been one of a kind. It successfully combines the hauling capacity of a long-bed pickup with the comfort of a five-passenger sport utility vehicle. It switches between these roles using its ingenious Midgate, a removable rear bulkhead between the passenger compartment and the pickup bed. Along with a hard, tonneau-like bed cover, the Midgate allows the Avalanche to be configured as a Tahoe-sized sport utility with a short bed. Fold down the rear seats and open the Midgate and it's like a pickup with an enclosed eight-foot bed, capable of securing valuable gear from thieves or shielding drywall from weather. Remove the rear glass a

All of the Oiler fans standing in front of Oilers brass headquarters holding signs begging for Kevin Lowe to sign Ryan Smyth can now go home crying. The Smyth saga in Edmonton, and any chance of it happening any day soon is officially over, as Colorado has just signed the much-desired winger to a 5-year $31.25 million deal. Just over $6 million per year... I know Smyth is such a cagey veteran
By modern standards, the Paul campaign is barely a campaign. He raised just $640,000 in the first quarter, compared to Mitt Romney’s $23 million and Giuliani’s $16 million. He has made only one visit to each of the three early voting states, has no organized operation in Iowa or South Carolina, and boasts a national campaign staff of just six. But Paul’s supporters, who number in the untold thousands, are certainly making their virtual mark.
They have begun to dominate the Republican presidential race on the Internet, though there is no evidence yet that the buzz will translate at the polls. Paul’s campaign now has roughly twice as many YouTube subscribers (12,000) as Barack Obama, and more than twice as many as all the other Republican candidates combined. Paul regularly wins unscientific online polls, while barely causing a blip in the scientific offline ones. His name is among the most searched terms on Technorati, the blog search engine. I am loving this time of year! The races for final playoff spots especially in the East, but also in the West between Colorado and Calgary have been a thrill to watch.Colorado's playoff hopes are hanging by a thread. It could be over for them tonight. There is no doubt that the Avs will be scoreboard watching, as they are 5 points behind Calgary. The Flames play the Sharks starting at 7:30 pst. The Canucks/Avs game starts at 7:00 pst. A win by the Flames will terminate the Avs' hopes. A win by the Canucks tonight in regulation will terminate the Avs' chances. Tonight, you would have to think that if the Avalanche players look up and see Calgary beating the Sharks say, 3-1 early in the 3rd, that it will negatively affect their psyche and potentially ruin their momentum and desire. But we'll see.Odds are stacked against Colorado. Even if the Sharks beat the Flames in regulation tonight, and the Avs beat Vancouver, Calgary plays Edmonton on Saturday, and you know how lousy the Oilers a
I didn't get to watch a lot of this game as we were at the Cougars game. We watched the Nucks in between plays on a TV in the suite we were in. (Yeah, it pays to have connections!) It appears Alain Vigneault gets results when he's pissed off! The Canucks clinched a playoff spot and at the same time really ruined Colorado's chances for making the postseason. How things have changed! Now we spoil their chances!Anyone want to comment on the game? Tell me what I missed? I see Vancouver took a lot of penalties. As for the Cougars/Blazers game: it was awesome! The Cats erased a 3-2 deficit late in the 3rd and won it, taking a 3-0 series lead. I'll talk more about that tomorrow and post some pics.
I am leaving town until tomorrow. I need to take a human resources course in Prince George (5 hours southeast of here). I won't even get to watch the Canucks game as we are going to see the Prince George Cougars in playoff action against the Kamloops Blazers tonight. A worthy sacrifice? I suppose. So I'll keep this short. I think the Canucks are going to win tonight. -They were outshot by the Avalanche by a fair margin and only barely lost last game.-Alain Vigneault probably screamed at them after last game (or murdered Santala). Expect more shots from the Canucks, and a full 60 minutes of effort. -Both teams will be scoreboard-watching, as the Flames play the Wild tonight.I say 3-2 Canucks in a close one. Expect Luongo to play better as well.See ya tomorrow tonight.
It was the Avs who played like they HAD to win last night. Hats off to them for not quitting and pouring their hearts out onto the ice.The Canucks came out strong in the first period, outshooting the Avs 13-8 and outscoring them 3-2. But the Avs woke up in the second and took over the game. From the 2nd period on, the Avs:-outshot the Canucks 22-7.-took 1 penalty to the Canucks' 5.-skated harder than the Canucks.-erased a 2-goal deficit after it looked like the Canucks could win, seeing that Vancouver only had 2 shots in the 2nd and actually scored on one of them (Pyatt's 2nd of the night). The Canucks came alive in the OT but couldn't beat Jose Theodore, who replaced Peter Budaj. Theo was hardly tested until the shootout, where he stopped every shot he faced. A smart move to pull Budaj by coach Joel Quenneville. The Avs responded. The 8 points by the Sedin-Pyatt line now means almost nothing. Hank Sedin passing Andre Boudrais' assist record, as impressive as that was (the Henrik cha
From Canucks.com:"For me those two games against Colorado, with the way the schedule seems to be right now, those are probably going to be the two games that will assure us of a playoff spot, or mean that we'll have to keep battling for that official playoff position," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said on the team's official Web site. The Canucks have won their last two matchups with the Avalanche after being held to just five goals in three losses, all in Denver. Vancouver, which has won its last four home meetings with Colorado, needs one win to match the single-season franchise record set in 1992-93. The Avalanche have only lost TWICE since February 27th, an OT loss to the Wild and a shootout loss to the Oilers last game. 9 wins in that span. Should we be concerned? A little. 5 of those wins came against non-playoff teams: Columbus, Chicago, Boston, Phoenix and Edmonton. The Canucks have won 9 and lost 3 since February 27th. 4 of those wins have come against non-playoff teams. Ou

Can you say Politics 2.0 Avalanche? If people thought Howard Dean was an Internet political phenomenon, 2008 campaigns for President, just begun, have the potential to say, "You aient seen nothing yet".While Hillary - www.hillaryclinton.com - set a high standard with her opening three nights of web conversations in which she gained a reported 100.000 email addresses, Barack Obama - www.barackobama.com - is matching his rival step for step, and perhaps then some. Without so much as an accompanying press release, General Motors released a slew of new images yesterday that show us what the Z71 off-road package looks like on two of the three GMT900 model SUVs. The Avalanche, Tahoe and Suburban are available with a Z71 package that adds, of course, the Z71 off-road suspension, new 18-inch aluminum wheels mounted on combination on-/off-road tires, an automatic locking rear diff, and high-pressure shocks. That's it for the hardcore mechanicals, though buyers who opt for the Z71 package are as much interested in the image these vehicles project as they are their capability. To that end, Chevy adds the Skid Plate Package, oversized wheel arch flares, tubular assist steps, extra bits of chrome trim, and rectangular fog lamps, along with the requisite Z71 badging so everyone knows you could go off road if you wanted to. The interiors benefit from a Z71-specific gauge cluster and brushed metal look for the dash. The Z71 package certainly adds some cajone
Diving Mr. Hull?? Right now it's the intermission report and Brett Hull is talking about diving...kinda funny....I bet he saw this video of Mr. Avery...or one of Crosby's many dives from this season. I think this is so weird they're just on the ice talking about different angles. I am liking the coverage that NBC is doing. Let's just hope it helps out American's watching hockey. Anyway after the first period it's 3-1 Dallas. Dallas scored the first 3 on 13 shots. Avs are starting out the second period on the power play and weren't able to capitalize. And the Avs put in Theodore and the Stars put in Smith...this is crazy...with all the goal tending changes...it's becoming a bit of a score fest....now it's getting interesting. Alright, the final score was 7-5 Dallas. The third period was decent but Dallas was taking too many stupid penalties. So way to go Dallas. And, the Jackets lost 5-4...sheesh...I try to be a good fan but sometimes they don't make it easy. I hate

My original plan was to have a chevy tahoe. I was glad i didnt buy to soon. The avalanche is more advantageous than the tahoe.
This truck possesses all the qualities of a good truck, the hauling room of a truck and the ride room and comfort of a Luxury car.
Now im so satisfied with what i have. I just hope this will last long.
