The Australian Grand Prix looks like it will be on. The Sunday Herald Times Sun reported that a verbal deal has been struck between Victorian Premier John Brumby and Bernie Ecclestone.
This deal is said to keep the Grand Prix in Australian and Melbourne until at least 2015. The start time for the race [...]

Britain's Lewis Hamilton, 23, has won the opening race of the Formula One season, taking the Australian Grand Prix in what he called his "best race... so far". Just seven cars finished the race, with Germany's Nick Heidfeld coming in second.Hamilton said: "It's probably the best race I've had so far in terms of managing tyres, controlling my pace and confidence, and being comfortable in the car. But it's not the perfect win. There are a lot of areas I can improve."Defending champion Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari retired with five laps to go for engine trouble. Teammate Felipe Massa also retired with engine failure. Source: BBC
The Formula One races are on again and I'm happy to say that McLaren-Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton still has his mojo. The handsome Briton won the Australian Grand Prix this weekend. The Australian Grand Prix is the season opener for the Formula One races. Hamilton won the race effortlessly while the other drivers struggled. If you follow the Formula One, then you've heard about the racist drama Lewis Hamilton was experiencing in Spain due to his ex-racing partner Fernando Alonso and the Spanish racing fans. Well, Alonso came in third place and I hope he enjoys the slice of humble pie that Hamilton just served him.Australian Grand Prix results1. Chaos was the work of the day in the 2008 Australian Grand Prix. 22 cars on the starting grid and only 8 crossing the finishing line 2 hours later. From car problems to crashes, this was one crazy grand prix.
In the end, Lewis Hamilton who managed to stay out of trouble, drove a [...]
It's March, it's silly-o-clock in the morning, and that means only one thing - F1's back and it's time for the Australian Grand Prix. Brits on Pole is here in front of the TV with a lot of tea and a laptop with a stuck 'N' key, ready to blog the action as it happens.
Paul Stoddart, the former Minardi team owner doubts there will be an Australian Grand Prix beyond 2009.
Bernie Ecclestone apparently insisted that the Melbourne track should be floodlit for future night racing, but Stoddart an Australian himself, suggests that the Albert Park organisers are unlikely to comply with the proposed compromise.
Apparently, the AGPC has offered to meet [...]
The future of the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park has again fallen into question with the state government of Victoria relictant to pay rising fees for hosting the race to Formula One Management. (Read the full post about ‘Australian Grand Prix in doubt after 2010′…)
Ferrari were expected to have a good weekend. But the gap between them and the others was probably bigger than many (including me) expected. Realistically Massa was the only driver that could challenge Kimi, Kimi was the only driver that could challenge Massa. Mechanical problems were the only thing that could prevent Ferrari 1-2 finish. Unfortunately for Massa that is exactly what happened. Kimi ran almost perfect race with only a small hiccup few laps from finish. Massa lost quite a lot of time bottled behind Hondas early on and drove heavy car for big part of race due to his 1 stop strategy. At the end his low risk approach meant 3 points and that is good result after staring 22nd on the grid. He might have tried harder to overtake Fisichella during final laps, but perhaps he prefers to start the season with safe 3 points than getting involved in some last gasp incident and loosing all. McLarens had solid race, both drivers obviously happy with their podium positions. Hamilton had a
Kimi wins on his Ferrari debut. Lewis Hamilton drove excellent F1 debut race. After great start he kept Alonso behind him and lost 2nd place only through some bad luck with traffic before his second pit stop. Massa gambled on 1 stop strategy and finished 6th after starting from 22nd. Heidfeld came home 4th. Sixth Fisichella did probably all that he could with the car he had. Both Williams and Toyota must be happy with points in bag.Scary moment 10 laps from finish. Coulthard took off after hitting Wurz and flew over the Williams barely missing Wurz's head ...1 K. Kimi gets pole position on his Ferrari debut. Both McLarens and BMWs running strong. Quite a few unexpected drivers in top ten – both Toyotas, Webber’s Red Bull and especially Sato in Aguri. Massa will be very disappointed after mechanical problems pushed him way down the starting grid.Top 10 grid places:K. RäikkönenF. AlonsoN. HeidfeldL. HamiltonR. KubicaG. FisichellaM. WebberJ. Kimi fastest this time and that makes different driver on top in each practice session. Fisi and Renault keep showing they have the pace. We still have Massa, Hamilton, Heidfeld, Alonso among the top, so the bunch of the favourites is shaping up. But what is Super Aguri doing … Davidson 4th, Sato 9th … - Australian Grand Prix, 3rd Practice
Massa setting the pace, Kimi seems to be hiding his true speed, still setting 2nd fastest time. Not sure what Alonso was working on, he should not be slower than Fisichella. Fisichella probably surprised even himself, especially with the fastest first sector. Worry for Reanult though - both their cars suffered some mechanical problems. BMWs are as quick as the winter tets were promising. Both Williams cars did pretty well. Congratualtions to Super Aguri - Davidson fastest of all 4 Honda powered cars. All 4 cars with customer Ferrari engines are at the tail of the order. - Australian Grand Prix, 2nd Practice
Alonso over a second faster than Massa, Kimi 10 seconds behind Alonso. Looks funny, but these result do not tell much, as not all drivers managed to get runs on dry track and try tyres.- Australian Grand Prix, 1st Practice
