A única coisa que poderia salvar meu dia: Lost in Austen. Mas o que foi aquilo? Que foi? Eu estou traumatizada.
Amanda consegue fazer Darcy entrar no lado. ^_^ Quando voltar do trabalho já deve ter baixado. Para download, clique AQUI.
Muito engraçado... Amanda pede para o Darcy entrar no lago e imitar o Colin Firth. "Não está no livro, mas está na minissérie". Uaaaaa!!!! Gargalhar de madrugada é tão bom. ^_^ Amanda: "O mundo inteiro me odeia!"
This is a bit old, but it really caught my attention. Apparently this guy (David Lassman) decided to see if some of the big publishers would recognize Jane Austen's writing if it was submitted to them, and if they'd accept it. What surprises me isn't that Austen was rejected--I sort of expected that considering her style is a big antiquated--but that most of the publishers didn't even recognize

Jane Austen is not a proclaimed moralist. Unlike Fielding, her aim is not to propagate the morality. She believes in art for the sake of art. She is the pioneer of the novels. Therefore, her plots are well-knit. Her main interest lies in irony and there is a hidden significance of morality as we come across her moral vision in her novels through irony.Jane Austen is in a favour of social prosperity than individual. She upholds the organic unity of society. She stresses that the duty of human beings owe to others, to society and maintains that individual desires have to be sub-ordinate to the large scale. Lydia-Wickham elopement is passionate and irresponsible. It shows that how society’s harmony is disrupted and how others lives are ruined by the selfish act of the individual. On the oth
An objective and impartial estimation of Jane Austen’s contribution to the development of the English novel involve comparisons which are, also, likely to undermine her self-imposed limitations as an artist.Austen’s range is very narrow. The plots revolve around three or four families in the countryside, consisting mostly of a few typed characters. There is only one theme – the theme of love and marriage – repeated in every novel. Deep philosophy of life is conspicuously absent and there are no hidden meanings to be discovered. There are no adventures to thrill, no violent passions to ruffle, no sensations to tickle and tease. Yet she is one of our major novelists. Safely emerging through two centuries and severe criticism, today she enjoys secure reputation.Austen’s first import

Officially zilch on the news front, so here are some little bits that are either fun, loosely-related or inconsequential:As reported by the Telegraph, a UKTV poll has revealed that 37% of women would rather date a 'Darcy-like figure' than a modern man. The poll also found that the majority of modern men were unlikely to even know who this 'Darcy' person is - two-thirds of male respondents had never read a romantic novel in their lives. Unhappy thought indeed!Just when we thought Martha Plimpton had planned a rest - even if she had yet to take it - it has been announced that she will join the cast of Cymbeline this fall. This, however, is not any production of Cymbeline - it is Lincoln Center's, meaning Ms Plimpton will be back at the Vivian Beaumont, on a stage we're assuming she knows quite well after seven months of The Coast of Utopia. Ms Plimpton will be playing Imogen, and previews will begin November 1. She is also joined in the project by Crew-topian lighting extraordinair

I sort of hate the collage on white background posters. You know the ones. You have several pictures that are basically scenes in the movie arranged together over the white background, generally using some sort of ragged edge around the pictures in order to make it look even more like a collage. This is a very common approach to posters, especially for light ensemble dramas and comedies. It can work well, but it generally doesn’t because you end up with several images of actors without any context associated with them.
On the other hand I do like the heart made out of the pages of the book. It’s related to the movie’s story and its a nice, interesting image. But the poster as a whole is still very bland.

I haven't had much to laugh about this week, but this did get my attention this morning despite my stupor induced by serious lack of sleep. So this prankster sent a number of publishers thinly disguised copies of chapters out of certain Jane Austen novels. Only one of the 18 editors that received the chapters recognized it for what it was. Ms. Austen's book was even rejected by the publisher that has published her works in paperback. The rest sent rejection letters citing a lack of marketability and one even called it a "really original and interesting read" in the rejection letter. I can't disagree with the interesting part, but it hasn't been original since Jane Austen wrote it in the early 1800s. Now these publishers are scrambling to save face. They need to face the facts, they are dumb. It really makes you wonder what little you have to do to be the top of your field, doesn't it? Strive for mediocrity, my friends, strive for mediocrity.tags: Jane Austen scam publishe

Anne Hathaway will be making an appearance in ” Becoming Jane Austen, ” Austen was a woman with an outstanding passion for life and writing, she was forced to live in a world, where choosing the right husband took precedence over all other things. The film also stars “Harry Potter” actresses Maggie Smith and Julie Walters as well as James Cromwell, the film centers around Austen’s relationship with Tom Lefroy, a young Irishman she can’t live with or without.Tags: jane austen books, anne hathaway, becoming jane austen movie, princess diaries
Another Jane Austen two-hour adaption to finish the the weekend, and another rollicking blast from the start. Austen’s text is ‘helped’ to become more 21st century by Andrew Davies (Mr Darcy, etc etc) although whether this is necessary is not certain - Austen’s themes are universal and remain the same today as when she was writing.
Lightened and simplified as television generally must, the plot romps along, though always clearly marking where it is heading. Felicity Jones (previously heard on the Archers!) is if anything too pretty to play Catherine, and shows the simple sensibility of her character very well. JJ Feild makes a great Henry Tilney, not allowing himself to smoulder, but attracting Catherine with his intellect.
Another great Austen diversion from ITV - catch it if you can on repeats.

According to the TimesOnline, the next volume of Austen's work published by Wordsworth Editions will feature the "new" Jane Austen on the cover. According to Wordsworth Editions, which sells millions of cut-price classic novels, the only authentic portrait of Jane Austen is too unattractive.Helen Trayler, its managing director, said: “The poor old thing didn’t have anything going for her in the way of looks. Her original portrait is very, very dowdy. It wouldn’t be appealing to readers, so I took it upon myself to commission a new picture of her.“We’ve given her a bit of a makeover, with make-up and some hair extensions and removed her nightcap. Now she looks great — as if she’s just walked out of a salon.” Some will see this as a positive thing and some will recognize the hidden message in the decision to market an icon like Jane Austen on her looks rather than on the content of her books.Patrick Stokes, of the Jane Austen Society, said: “She’s not a goddess. Here it is, just the entry we could use, a little listing of some of the worst writing acts of a since forgotten hack writer whom both Marvel and DC had the gall to hire to write some of their most high profile books, how about that! Austen, as far as I know, was an animation producer for King of the Hill in the past decade, and surprisingly enough, he even penciled a few of the issues of the otherwise abortive Elektra series that ran under the now defunct Marvel Knights label. But it’s as a scriptwriter that he really played foul. For example: He made Polaris into one of the most annoying characters in Uncanny X-Men. Really irritating dialect, and for a comic book, alarming too. He wrote an affair between Archangel and Husk, a very questionable act too, since Husk, if memory serves, is underage (around 16-17 years old), and so, this was really going overboard. He was even allowed to write Action Comics, probably the last insult to his record, but still one of the worst, and wr
A poll of Britain’s top 100 best reads has placed Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice top of the list showing that classical writing is still enjoyed. Second on the list comes JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre polled 3rd, with JK Rowling’s Harry Potter taking 4th position. Sixth position is taken by the Bible while Charlotte Bronte’s sister Emily takes 7th place with Wuthering Heights. George Orwell’s 1984 came in at 8th position.
The complete works of William Shakespeare polled position 14.
The list was compiled from an online poll of 2000 readers for World Book Day Thursday.

Now not only do I have to read the novel that the movie is based on but everything put on paper by Jane Austen.
