O allTRIBES divulga o som da banda que resultou da união do vocalista do Sound Garden, Chris Cornell, com os três instrumentistas do Rage Against the Machine, Tom Morello - (guitarra), Tim Commerford - (baixo e vocal de apoio) e Brad Wilk - (bateria). Para se entender a história da formação do Audioslave, é preciso falar de duas bandas de peso no cenário do rock: Rage Against The Machine e Soundgarden. Zack de la Rocha, o vocalista do Rage Against the Machine deixou a banda em outubro de 2000 para seguir carreira solo, ao passo que os três integrantes remanescentes partiam para a busca de um novo vocalista. O futuro do Rage Against the Machine era incerto quando Tom Morello, Tim Commerford e Brad Wilk receberam o vocalista Chris Cornell (ex-Soundgarden) para um ensaio. Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has announced he will be leaving the group due to “irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences”. There has been no further word on whether the band will continue without him, and if so, who would take over vocal duties. “Earlier this month, Morello told MTV News that, for now, the Rage reunion would be a one-off, adding that his principal focus at the moment is his solo project, the Nightwatchman (see “Nightwatchman, Rage Reunion Have Morello Fired Up For Political Fights”).” In other words: Audioslave = dead. RATM = one shot deal for now, potential to reunite. Morello and Cornell’s solo careers will tank and they’re reform other “supergroups” down the road.

"Audioslave" fue un grupo compuesto por Chris Cornell, famoso ex-vocalista de Soundgarden, y la parte instrumental de la banda "Rage Against The Machine". Tras sacar tres discos al mercado el grupo se disolvió en febrero de 2007 debido a diferencias musicales y a la voluntad de Cornell de iniciar un proyecto en solitario. Typically I don’t follow a whole lot of the music industry gossip that is passed around on the Internet let alone write about it and this is especially true about current mainstream music. I don’t listen to a whole lot of it and don’t care about celebrity gossip so most of the rumors aren’t anything I’d be interested in enough to read. Everyday there is some new rumor that will turn out to be false and some new band is in the thick of it. When I first heard rumors of the breakup of "super group" Audioslave I thought surely this is just another music industry rumor. Luego de varios meses de rumores sobre la separación de Audioslave, el cantante Chris Cornell indicó en un comunicado de prensa que deja definitivamente la banda, citando conflictos personales irresolubles y diferencias musicales.
