This is a life hack that I do to learn more without putting aside extra time just for listening/reading. I love books and audio books but there is hardly ever time to sit down and read a book or simply listen to the audio book.

Convert Any Text to an iTunes-Compatible Audiobook [Audiobooks] Web site Mac OS X Hints details how to create an iTunes audiobook (i.e., an M4B audio file) from any text in just a couple of clicks. The process involves installing a new service to your Services menu, then selecting your to-be-audiobooked text and choosing AppName -> Services -> Speak to iTunes Audiobook. When the conversion is complete, the resulting audio file is automatically imported to iTunes in the Audiobooks section. The service uses the new Alex voice in Leopard, and the results are actually very listenable. 10.5: Convert text to iTunes audio book via Services item [Mac OS X Hints] Link - Adam Pash - Fri, 09 May 2008 22:00:00 GMT - Feed (45 subs) Audiobooks How To
Paul McKenna's Stop Smoking For Good is the strangest DVD I have yet reviewed. It is unusual in that it doesn't have a plot, being a self-help video-based hypnosis disc. I have to confess to being a smoker - one of the last few of a dying (yes, I know) bunch. I have tried unsuccessfully to quit innumerable times - including visiting a hypnotherapist. Unfortunately for me, half-way through the second session, all I could think was I wish this bloke would hurry up, so I can go and buy some cigarettes . So, here is a DVD which purports to be able to help me finally quit easily, right now ... Whether or not it does, only time will tell. One caution for those of you who may consider buying this DVD - there is a warning on the cover which states it should not be watched by those wh

Decipher the unspoken vocabulary of body language. A tilt of the head, the crossing of legs, the buttoning and unbuttoning of a jacket, and other gestures can speak volumes about what a person is thinking or feeling. By learning to spot hidden emotional, social, and sexual messages, you can tell how a person is reacting to you, respond appropriately, and influence the outcome of any situation. Detect and send messages of friendliness and flirtation. Gain and maintain the upper hand in negotiations and arguments. Determine whether someone is lying, recognize boredom, and overcome defensiveness. By interpreting nonverbal behavior, you can improve your control over job interviews, business meetings, parties, chance encounters, and other everyday situations.

Most people fear giving a speech more than any other situation they encounter—in fact, public speaking ranks #1, even out-ranking death. Reluctance to getting up in front of an audience is often a major impediment to career advancement. Indeed, each year thousands of people turn down promotions because a new position would require giving speeches to bosses, co-workers, or clients.

I just finished Frank Herbert’s Dune on audiobook and am completely stoked. It really made the commute back and forth to my new job so tolerable. I saw the old movie made back in 1984 for which I have always been a fan. However, I never read the actual book and now I regret that decision… or lack thereof. I will definitely be getting the actual novel and probably reading through it. I also would like to read the rest of the Dune novels.
I did actually see the Children of Dune TV Miniseries on Sci-Fi a while back… I really enjoyed that but I think I missed out on some of the plot since I am not familiar with the content of those particular books.

Touted as a "handbook on the most subtle and effective form of power" and "an indispensable primer on how to take what you want from whomever you want," this book is more than a little creepy. Following on the heels of his 48 Laws of Power, this book continues Greene's gross exploration of social power, this time in the realm of sexual politics. In Part 1, Greene, again
