Welcome to this week’s Freeware Friday! Today’s Program is Audacity. Audacity is a great cross-platform sound editor. It works on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. I have used the Windows version for a few years and have found it to be one of the best sound editing programs. If you want an easy to use sound editor, then use Audacity. You can use it to create your own podcasts and post them to your blog, web site or to the web. Recently, I did an article on MyPodcast.com for a Media Monday and I mentioned that I have created podcasts called Maun Tech Radio and these podcasts were created using Audacity. The current stable version is 1.2.6 and the latest beta is 1.3.3. I use the beta version and have not had any problems with it. In July 2007, Audacity won the Sorceforge Community Choice Award for Best Project for Multimedia. Audacity is an open source program.
