Guess what people. I failed it like 3 times total! So much for a breeze. Sigh. Theories are so much easier to work around. I guess when it comes to practical usage, you really need to know what you're doing to be able to score the goal. To make things worst... I enrolled really late this term and had only 4 days to complete 2 assignments! Ouch. That's not it. It seems the assignments have double in terms of difficult level. And for Principles of Accounting, theories have totally became passé. Continue reading...

Pinellas ready to move on assignment plan
The Pinellas School Board has resolved a sticking point that threatened to delay implementation of the new student assignment plan. At a workshop this afternoon, a board majority said that all magnet and fundamental elementary schools should continue to draw students using a countywide application process. After months of work, the board is expected to take a final vote on the plan at a special meeting tonight at 5:30 p.m. at district headquarters, 301 Fourth St. SW, Largo. Last week, a board majority pushed for a "proximity preference" system that would reserve a percentage of seats for students who live near magnet and fundamental schools. They feared those students would not have the same access to a "close-to-home" school that students in other regions of the county would have. However, superintendent Clayton Wilcox said the idea would be too difficult to implement in time for next school year. The issue was resolved after a presentation by district administrators showin

Here are this year’s selections: Baby Bug’s because she loves Elmo. Plus, it’s one of the few words she can actually say. Girlie Girl’s because she loves pink. Wonder where she got that from? Pinellas student assignment plan may be delayed a year
The Pinellas School Board's insistence on a key last-minute change to its new student assignment plan may end up derailing the plan for another year, Superintendent Clayton Wilcox said today. "There are just too many unanswered questions for us as an administrative team," Wilcox said at a hastily called news conference just minutes before the board's regular meeting at 5 p.m. The board asked for the change at an afternoon workshop, and it raised a number of new issues, the superintendent said. The change that sparked the delay: Four board members, a majority, said that a certain percentage of students who live close to all magnet and fundamental schools should get priority over other students during the admissions process. He said there was a "real likelihood" the plan would be delayed until the 2009-10 school year. It was to start next school year, with assignments being made starting in February. Wilcox said he would ask the board tonight to schedule a meeting next Tuesday.

Gordon sought $750,000 in historic Jefferson case Louisville attorney Ted Gordon will receive $210,000 for leading the five-year legal fight to overturn Jefferson County Public Schools' racial integration policy -- less than a third of what he requested.Gordon sustained the case "more upon a conviction than skill," U.S. District Judge John Heyburn wrote [last week]in his ruling awarding the money for fees, expenses and a bonus, but "the undeniable truth is that counsel pursued an epic case against considerable odds and vehement opposition to an astonishing success."Crystal Meredith, the Louisville woman whose son was at the center of the case, won't receive any money, Heyburn ruled. The judge ruled that the school district should pay Gordon $112,500 for nearly 500 hours of work at $225 an hour in the legal case that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Mary Brown, the board’s only black member, cast the dissenting vote. “I am very much against moving this plan forward,” Brown said. “I have said that from the beginning.” A second vote on the plan is scheduled for Dec. 11. - Donna Winchester, Times education reporter

Jefferson Co. School Board OKs School Assignment Principles
Louisville, Ky. (AP) Students' ethnicity and socioeconomic status as well as race are among the factors the Jefferson County Board of Education agreed Monday to include in developing its next student assignment plan. The U.S. Supreme Court in June barred the district from assigning students to schools based on race."We want to look at diversity in a much broader light so that it will maximize the educational benefits for all students," Superintendent Sheldon Berman told The Courier-Journal. "We will still look at race, and race will still be a major factor, but it will not be the only factor."Besides diversity, the "guiding principles" that the board adopted include enhanced quality of the instructional program; families choice; predictability so that families understand the choices and the assignment process; student stability to provide connection to the school staff, peers and the school's social and academic community; and equitable access to programs and resources. The board voted

      Overloading the Assignment Operator (=)
We know that if we want objects of a class to be operated by common operators then we need to overload them. But there is one operator whose operation is automatically crested by C++ for every class we define, it is the assignment operator ‘=’. Actually we have been using similar statements like the one below previously ob1=ob2; where ob1 and ob2 are objects of a class. This is because even if we don’t overload the ‘=’ operator, the above statement is valid. As I said C++ automatically creates a default assignment operator. The default operator created, does a member-by-member copy, but if we want to do something specific we may overload it. The simple program below illustrates how it can be done. Here we are defining two similar classes, one with the default assignment operator (created automatically) and the other with the overloaded one. Notice how we could control the way assignments are done in that case. // Program to

Lawyer in schools case seeks fees, wants immediate hearing on student assignment
Jefferson parents' attorney asks judge to set payment A Louisville lawyer who successfully challenged Jefferson County Public Schools' racial-integration policy wants the district to pay his legal fees, plus a bonus, according to a motion filed yesterday. At least one legal expert says the final figure could reach hundreds of thousands of dollars or more. Attorney Teddy Gordon, who represented parents in a lawsuit decided by the U.S. Supreme Court last month, isn't saying exactly how much he thinks the district should pay him, but he wants more than $200 an hour, and a bonus to reflect the case's impact on schools nationwide."I have spent thousands of my own money on expenses and court costs," he said in a statement, while declining to say how much he thinks he deserves. "Because I am a sole practitioner who has worked hundreds of hours on these cases, I was not able to take on other clients." Gordon's filing leaves it up to U.S. District Judge John Heyburn to determine how mu

Student-assignment guide OK'd in Jefferson County
School Board backs step for revising systemThe Jefferson County Board of Education voted unanimously last night to approve a plan that it hopes will help create a new student-assignment policy in time for the 2009-10 school year. The 14-page plan, which will be submitted to U.S. District Judge John Heyburn for guidance and approval, is one of the district's first steps to comply with a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that race can't be a deciding factor in individual student assignment.Superintendent Sheldon Berman said the district will immediately begin to follow the timeline established in the plan, which was put together by district officials with the help of the school board's attorney, Frank Mellen.Berman also said the district will "no longer use race to determine whether a student is granted a transfer or placement at a particular school."Board members said they were pleased with the hard work of Berman and district officials who worked "long hours" to put the plan together.

      Bradley Designated For Assignment
MLB's angry young man has alienated another organization, as the Oakland Athletics designated talented but troubled outfielder Milton Bradley for assignment. The team now has ten days in which they can trade the player or they will grant him his unconditional release. Bradley is one of MLB's leaders in two categories, controversy and trips to the disabled list. This latest episode came about as he was waiting to be reactivated to the 25 man roster after his third time on the D.L. Oakland was trying to determine the health of third baseman Eric Chavez, and so held off activating Bradley longer than he liked. When asked by a reporter, how he was doing on Tuesday Bradley replied that he was healthy and still on the D.L.Nobody has ever questioned Bradley's talent but his fragility and surliness have caused problems, with the Indians, the Dodgers, and now The A's. As a reporter who covered the Indians during his time playing in Cleveland, I can attest that he is extremely bright and art

      PS-MAPP class homework assignment
Last week we were given the assignmen to write a letter to the parents of a child who may be placed in our home. We were instructed to tell the birth parents some things about us and our family that would assure them of our ability to foster or adopt their child. As we wrote our letter, we were asked to think of the following questions:1) How would I feel if my child were living with people I do not know?2) What would I want to know about a family caring for my child?3) What could another parent tell me that would make me feel secure that I am still my child's parent? This letter will become a part of our Family Profile and may be show to birth parents.I have been dreading this assignment! I've always had a strong dislike for "Dear Birth Parent" letters for several reasons. I don't feel it's right to call them birth parents before it's even been determined whether their parental rights will be severed. I'm not comfortable with the idea of "selling" myself to get a child, although I

One Assignment done ... one left to go
That's the assignment finished - and it's a relief I can tell you. Fortunately, my brother has kindly offered to print it out and hand it in for me as he's in the area of the student registry today which is of great help to me as I can spend some extra time on the next assignment - only one more to do then I am officially assignment free, and once the exam is over that's me done for the year (until September that is!).It feels like everything is on hold at the moment whilst I get these things done and out of the way. It's my own fault leaving things till the last minute but that said historically I've produced some of my best work when under extremely stressful conditions. During the calm I always find it difficult to maintain focus - if only I could flip that on its head I'd be unstoppable (yeah right). The diet has gone right out of the window too. It's back to the junk food I'm afraid ... for now at least but I'm starting to feel it this time, the tiredness and lethargy are

Passport Renewal and My First Travel Writing Assignment
Passport Renewal Yesterday, I had a new passport photo taken at my local FedEx Kinko’s. The cost was $5 per set, where a set equaled two photos. I ordered a total of three sets for starters. Two photos were sent along with my passport renewal application, and I’m keeping the other four for future use. Actually, I was a bit surprised at the cost, and decided I could probably scan and print more for less, using my parent’s computer. The actual passport renewal fee was $67. On top, I felt it appropriate to FedEx the application given it included my old passport. The total cost was about $100. It was money well spent! My last passport renewal was in August 1997, a year before I was to take my first backpacking trip (to Europe). In looking back at that picture, I was quite chubby in the cheeks. I’ve lost about 25 pounds, and a head of hair in that time. Assignment Old Town Alexandria After a cool, rainy Saturday, I hit Old Town Alexandria, Virginia with a

With MLK Day quickly approaching, I’m hoping you’ll be motivated to take a few minutes of your year and consider spending some time thinking about our nations history and our current society as it relates to race. The American Anthropological Association has put together a really neat website, Understanding Grace, that creatively addresses the issue of race. It’s a great learning experience to spend a half hour browsing the site. It’s Sunday, and unfortunately most of us tend to see MLK Day as just another day off of school or work. I wish it came with the same anticipation as Christmas or even Halloween. So, take a few minutes after my short post, and take a look at the website, Understanding Grace. (ht. MT1 - From Assignment to Alignment
Missional Transformation is a process of discovery that begins when believers recognize their responsibility to align themselves (passions, desires, behaviors, habits) with the missionary purpose of Jesus. This transformation is fueled by a passionate, fervent commitment to the knowledge of the glory of God filling the earth as the water covers the sea (Hab. 2:14). As pastors and believers begin to experience Missional Transformation, there are significant shifts that begin to take place in the way we view our participation with Christ and His kingdom.I will be posting a series of these shifts - which reflect a greater awareness of Jesus’ missionary purposes and a commitment to joining other to accomplish the mission.SHIFT 1: From Assignment to Alignment Many Christians view the Great Commission as the missionary assignment of those who are called by God to a foreign mission field. Others view Jesus’ commission as the original disciples’ assignment or task, but they do not be
