Welcome to InterWined’s health news Tuesday! Uh, sorry, Wednesday:
Evidence for the beneficial effect of green tea on risk factors for heart disease has emerged in a new study reported in the latest issue of European Journal of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation.
The study found that the consumption of green tea rapidly improves the function of (endothelial) [...]
A study on juices made from apples or purple grapes showed that both the juices and the fruits themselves can protect against clogged arteries.
Researchers fed hamsters fruit juice along with a fatty diet. The animals who were fed grape juice had the lowest risk of developing artery problems.
The benefits came from the fruits’ high levels of phenols, an antioxidant. Antioxidants in various foo
You may have these problems: hands, arms or legs feel cold or "go to sleep", your legs get aches or pains on short walks, you get breathless, your memory worse than it used to be, you are lacking the energy you once had, test results indicate cardiovascular problems? The safe, fast and cheapest way to clean your veins and arteries is through Chelation Therapy. Transposition of the great arteries is a heart defect present at birth (congenital), in which the two main arteries leaving the heart are reversed (transposed). The condition changes the way blood circulates through the body, leaving a shortage of oxygen in blood flowing from the heart to the rest of the body. Without an adequate [...]

This little crab-like device was designed to release a chemical that will immediately clear obstructions to the heart. The legs are made of grafted heart tissue and may need to be grown from stem cells based on the patients own body. Otherwise the little bugger might be destroyed by the patients immune system.
Eating garlic is one of the best ways to lower high blood pressure and protect yourself from cardiovascular disease. A new study from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) shows this protective effect is closely linked to how much hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is produced from garlic compounds interacting with red blood cells. The UAB researchers found this interaction triggered red blood cells to release H2S, which then led to the relaxation of blood vessels. Fresh garlic was used at a concentration equal to eating two cloves. The resulting H2S production caused up to 72 percent vessel relaxation in rat arteries. This relaxation is a first step in lowering blood pressure and gaining the heart-protective effects of garlic, said David Kraus, Ph.D., a UAB associate professor in the Departments of Environmental Health Sciences and Biology and the study's lead author.Click here to see the rest of this article in Medical News Todaypermalink TechnoratiPhilippine Nursing http://Philippinenurs
Can’t believe what I’ve just seen. “Clean Your Arteries”? How? It sounds like cleansing your colon thingy, but this is for the arteries!
I’ve stumbled upon this product, and after checking out, then only realize that Xtend-Life Cardio-Klenz is a natural medication for people who suffer artery or heart problems.
It is developed to help reducing fat in the arteries, breakdown and dispose the plaques, reduce aggregation of platelets in blood, smooth the interior of arteries and stablize blood pressure.
Not sure how true it is, but if it offers the same guarantee like its other product (for diabetes), then it would be more convincing.

Most of the recent good news about red wine and health has involved a compound called resveratrol, which is found in a thin layer between the skin and flesh of the grape. There's one hitch to the research: while resveratrol can do some amazing things and it is found in red wine, you would need to put away massive amounts on a daily basis to replicate the dose that appears to have benefits in lab mice.
Now comes a study from Queen Mary's School of Medicine in London that says another substance found in red wine may have even more benefits -- and procyanidins appear in high enough natural concentrations that scientists don't have to figure out how to concentrate them into pill form. A glass or two of red wine a day should do the trick, helping repair cells in arteries that feed the heart.
In a study being published in the journal Nature, scientists looked at the increased longevity in certain regions of France. They found that Madiran wines produced in the southwest of France, where
It's no surprise that Americans like to eat out. And as a result, it's not surprising that many of us are, well, fat.I knew eating out wasn't the healthiest thing to do on a regular basis, but I had no clue just how bad some of these dishes were until reading this article. (Well, except for the cheesecake. There's no way you're getting off easy on a dessert combining cheese and cake!)You think fast food is bad for you? Your average table-service restaurant like Ruby Tuesday's and T.G.I. Friday's may actually be worse.A bit...Ruby Tuesday's offers an entree called Fresh Chicken & Broccoli Pasta so loaded with cheese and other stuff that it tipped the scales at 2,060 calories and 128 grams of fat, he said. Jacobson dubbed it "Angioplasta," alluding to angioplasty, a medical procedure to open clogged arteries. One slice of The Cheesecake Factory's Chris's Outrageous Chocolate Cake had 1,380 calories, with layers of cake, brownies, coconut pecan filling and chocolate-chip coconut
