Archos have just unveiled a new plug-in for its Archos 605 WiFi, 705 WiFi, and Archos TV+ range of PMPs which, according to Archos’s press release, results in ‘the first PMP to support the nearly ubiquitous Adobe Flash 9, Windows Media Video (WMV) 9 and ON2 video formats, letting consumers enjoy the millions of online video and Flash games available on the Web’.

Archos' 605 and 405 go on sale in the USWe already had word that the Archos 605 WiFi would be released tomorrow, but it looks like the company couldn't wait -- the 605 and and 405 just appeared for sale on the Archos website. Pricing is right in line with what we told you earlier: the 160GB 605 is $399, with the 80GB, 30GB and 4GB + SD versions coming in at $349, $299 and $230, respectively, while the 2GB + SD 405 is just $169. Still no word on all those rumored content partnerships, but at least now we can do some digging Stateside, eh?(Via Engadget.)

Hands-on with the Archos 105 "super-dim" DAPLet's not beat around the bush here: the Archos 105's OLED screen sucks. Sure it's a 1.5-incher, meant only for the most rudimentary of song browsing activities, but we wouldn't risk our precious eyesight spending another five minutes looking at the dim, pixelated thing. We're not really crazy about the control layout either, but we admit the device is quite slimly proportioned -- it's just too bad about the OLED. Archos 405 PMP Reviewed: "The Archos 405 was released yesterday by Archos and CNET published the first review of the device yesterday as well. Overall CNET rated the 405 a 7.7 out of 10.The good points included the big glare free screen above average audio quality, SD expansion and a good price.The bad were the measly 2GB of onboard memory and average battery life. Archos Announces New 5th Generation PMP's: "Archos announced today that their 5th generation PMP devices will be shipping mid-September. This new 5th generation of players has two products in it, the Archos 405 and the WiFi capable Archos 605.The 405 will be 0.5’ thick and weigh only four ounces and is the first Archos player to use flash memory. A 3.5’ screen and 2Gb of storage space allow for video playback and expansion is via an SD slot that handles SDHC cards. The price for the 405 will be $169.99.The Archos 605 has WiFi and allows Internet surfing with an optional browser plug-in and you can stream content to it from your PC using the DVR station software. The screen has an 800 x 480 resolution and it can be had with 30GB, 80GB, or 160GB and a 4GB flash based version. The 704 Wi-Fi impresses with its large and clear screen, smooth video playback and interesting Wi-Fi features. With a few software tweaks, this could be a truly great player – as it is, it's just a very good one
