…well, I live in Florida. We didn’t really have a lot of rain in April…and there are flowers year-round here, but it sounded like a good catchy title. My absolute favorite flower in the whole world did come into bloom this week though; the glorious magnolia! (I have GOT to get a picture of one [...]
It is close to seven years since American forces led an invasion of Afghanistan that threw out Taliban leadership, but President Karzai’s attempt to preside over a ceremony resulted in attacks by suspected Taliban militants which forced him to flee for his life. The president was at a pageants that marked the sixteenth anniversary of [...]
Today was gloriously beautiful until about 4 this evening. Dark clouds rolled in. Daniel and I decided a few days ago we needed to make a run to the store and so off we went! While we were eating dinner, the rain just fell all at once. It was an enormous downpour! And then slowly it trickled away. Then woosh, it'd come back all at once again! It was definitely some crazy rain! So at the store Elaina picked out one of those big bouncy balls since we have no outside toys. Ooh, and I found something else that's really cool! PAINT! Clearance paint. Yeah, so it's Wolly World paint but I've never used it and I got two gallons for $10. One color is the color of purple lilacs and the other is a cream. I decided to paint Abby's room that this summer! I'll probably paint the lower half the purple and
Last week we had a couple really gorgeous days. Lily and I spend the afternoon planting tomato and mint seeds. Mint seeds for summer mojitos. Tomatoes for....well, do you ever need a reason to plant plump juicy tomatoes? I haven't successfully grown any since I was eleven but I think this year will be different.Lily enjoyed sprinkling the seeds, no so much the digging. She enjoyed using the sprinkler to water the seeds but got a little carried away and watered the front porch, sidewalk and shirt she was wearing. It's one of those hobbies that teach patience. The package said that it will take 74 days to mature. I figure that means we'll have tomatoes by July. Seems a little long. The mint leaves will mature in 21 days. At least I'll be saving $3 on the quarter ounce of mint leaves our loca

As we were driving home from my grandma’s house at sunset, the mountains looked so beautiful with the “pink” snow. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed it so clearly or seen the snowcapped hills during sunset. I wish I had my camera; it was gorgeous.
I also thought it was ironic to still see so much [...]
Already this month, on the 1st of April no less, I have been caught without an umbrella. I have a collection of flimsy black drugstore umbrellas piled up in my closet, most defective in one way or another, so I decided to invest in a new one. I love a good party. So when Catherine, Kristen, Julie and Nancy invited me to my very first virtual Baby Shower for Liz (Mom-101), Christina (A Mommy Story) and Tammie (Soul Gardening) - I immediately RSVP'd 'yes.' But then I started thinking about the finger-sandwich platter I wouldn't get to attack, and the rum-spiked punch I wouldn't be able to chug and then pass out from. And what about

April Showers: Lessons from Nature dip dop,dip dop, dip dopdopOutside it's cloudy and the rain has begun. My thoughts linger at the sound. We step outside to do an errand and in the hurry to get into the car and keep from getting too wet, my daughter points out the flowers nearby.I 'm reminded to stop and to find joy in nature. Here's an article I found that I enjoyed reading about Lessons from Nature.Lessons From Nature - April ShowersBy John GilmoreIt has been said that April showers bring May flowers. When it is May and I look out the window I can see that the statement is true. Most of us can. May days are often beautiful. The skies are blue, the clouds billowy and crisp and the winds subtle and cool. On days like those I often stop, take a breath, look around, and perceive the beauty of
This coming spring home selling season has got to be the most important event in residential home sales history.
The stakes could not be higher.
Think about it.
If, after all the pent-up inventory hits the spring market, buyers once again refuse to show, things are going to look horrendous especially if the economic and interest rate environment continue to appear favorable.
Here in the Northeast it's clear that home sellers are taking a hiatus.
Perusing just about any town in the Boston metro area using the Inventory Tracking Tool clearly shows MLS inventories at the lowest levels since the tool became available last May.
Sellers have obviously pulled their listings until spring in hopes of reentering the market in a more favorable environment.
Unfortunately though, this practice is occurring in droves so unless buyers turn out as well, things will end up right where they were last spring except with an even greater numbers of homes for sale.
Additionally, it's interesting to co
Montreal got hit with another blast of winter.
I had started an entry earlier that I was going to post tonight when I got home about my purple crocuses starting to bloom. I wanted to get a picture to post, and do a side by side from the earlier lightly snow covered buds I blogged about [...]
Remember back in 2004, Ford unveiled its new Focus and announced "The Year of The Car?" FoMoCo's cash cow was (and still is) a pickup truck. Clock FoMoCo's passenger car offerings four years later, and you'd be forgiven for thinking the auto show hyperbole was just that. But now it's here for real: the year of the car. In April, passenger cars outsold trucks in the U.S. new vehicle market for the first time in two decades. This is a truly amazing moment in U.S. automotive history, representing the roll-back of the SUV boom. With federal fuel economy regulations in the offing, it's unlikely that even a huge drop in gas prices can reverse the tide. Let's take a closer look at this watershed month.
