Funny, in the wake of that somewhat lightweight rant against Radiohead, that I am this morning lost in a world as created by Berliner Apparat. For without the Oxford lads I am convinced there would not have been an Apparat that sounded like this. Sascha Ring may still be able to orchestrate a sense of rave at his live shows but on record his music is introspective and challenging. His vocals are undeniably Thom Yorke in nature as are the electronic landscapes that accompany them yet despite the comparisons songs like ‘Arcadia’ engage as if they are the only tune in the room. ‘Arcadia’ can be found on Apparat’s 4th album ‘Walls’ came out last year. ...y aparece en sy Myspace y hasta dice 'with band', solamente que aún dice TBA. Bueno pues, Apparat vendrá a México para presentarse en las ciudades de México, Tijuana y Guadalajara. El único lugar que aparentemente tiene más detalles sobre el evento es el último mencionado, en un lugar llamado Plaza de la Liberación, en el marco de un Festival de Mayo. La fecha para la Ciudad de México está programada para el 16 de Mayo y solo habrá que esperar más información sobre lugar y precio de boletos.

Berlin-based producer and DJ Sascha Ring is better known under the pseudonym Apparat. ‘Walls’, his fifth full-length release, is his most accessible album to date and incorporates more traditional songwriting into his electronic laptop compositions. The organic programming and gliding electronic pulses also lend the track listing a soaring, continuous feel. The introductory “Not a Number,” with its plaintive, melancholic strings arrangements by Complexácord and repetitive vibraphone rhythm pattern, brings to mind the minimalism of Steve Reich. “Hailin’ from the Edge,” moves into hip-hop territory with an old-school drum-machine beat and Raz Ohara’s soulful vocals, while Ring’s vocals on the track “Arcadia” sound unnervingly like Thom Yorke. Berlin-based producer and skilled laptoper Sasha Ring (aka Apparat) is set to release his new artist album through his own imprint Shitkatapult in May.
Titled Walls the album is Ring's first solo LP since 2003's Duplex. It comes as a sequel to his most recent studio collaboration with Ellen Allien on the critically acclaimed Orchestra Of Bubbles.
According to Ring, Walls is the result of dozens of unfinished tracks he had begun working on over the past few years. "I was just collecting some of the best ideas out of a folder with around 70 unfinished tracks, and finished them," he says. "It's more of a 'last-two-years of Apparat compilation.' That's why there's so much different stuff on it, a lot of different influences."The album includes four tracks with vocals by Raz Ohara (who also appeared on Apparat’s Sizilium EP) and three songs with vocals by Ring himself - the first time he has sung on a record.

Apparat follows up his 2006 collaboration with Ellen Allien ‘Orchestra of Bubbles’ with a new solo LP called ”Walls“. Walls will be released on Apparat’s own imprint Shitkatapult.
Today I came across this album “Orchestra of Bubbles” from Apparat & Ellen Allien, and was quite shocked at just how many of the songs it boasts that I really liked listening to. Ok it’s not new as it came out in april of 2006 but its more than worth a listen.
