      Marie Antoinette's Invite
Luxurious fabrics of silks & satins with details of gilded gold is shamelessly romantic. Remember Sophia Coppola's version of Marie Antoinette, the entire movie reminded me of sweet cotton candy embellished with intricate details of magic. I began thinking if I were to go back in time & attend a ball in Versailles as the guest of Marie Antoinette what would I wear, well considering I wear

The Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre & Britney Spears (Yes, These Are 2 Different Topics)
For those of you who are confused, I am of course talking about the 2008 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards® presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, which were shown on CBS last night, facing stiff competition from Game 5 of the NBA finals (I saw both). CYBERPUNK MEETS MARIE ANTOINETTE...
I have been to the k-mb agency today to have a look at the new autumn/winter 08/09 collections of the designers they represent. When I entered the agency's rooms my eyes automatically fell on a dress by Berlin based design duo Scherer González. Scenes from a dramatically arranged costume drama somewhere in between Cyberspace and Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette adaption immediately came to my mind. Haute Couture like garments made of silk, leather, fur, perfectly crafted left me totally speachless. Tiny little details like aureated snake's vertebrae add up to items that are worth every penny (many pennies!!!). I most certainly found the dress for my next red carpet event O_O I am not so much a fan of the campaign itself, but I can hardly wait to see these clothes used in an editorial...

Lately these queues became very long and standing in them for your turn will take hours and hours in the popular low working class areas The sorrowful incident that took place last week happened when a ma

      Marie Antoinette
I saw the movie Marie Antoinette a few weeks ago. It was an excellent movie. Marie Antoinette was played by Kirsten Dunst who as always did an excellent job. The Character kind of reminded me of Paris Hilton as far as the extravagant spending, fancy clothes, little dogs, and candy. But that’s where the resemblance ended. Marie was a lot more innocent than Marie and her character (the historical figure herself not the character in the movie) was not well developed for a number of reasons. She was the fifteenth child, and the last daughter, born into the family. Marie Antoinette later described her relationship with her mother as one of awe-inspired fear. She also developed a mistrust of intelligent older women as a result of her mother’s close relationship with Archduchess Maria Christina, who shared Maria Theresa’s birthday and was her favorite child. The lack of supervision also resulted in a sub-par education in many regards, and she could barely read or wr

      Marie Antoinette
The third feature length film by Sofia Coppola is like looking through a photoalbum. One beautiful picture after another flashes by, providing the viewer with snapshots of Marie Antoinette's teenage life. The costumes worn by the female characters are exquisite just like the huge ballroom locations. The film is all about Marie Antoinette and shows this girl who finds herself in the middle of all this luxury. It makes you question at times why Coppola has chosen to tell Marie Antoinette's story when it feels like this story could be of any girl of the same age. Coppola could have chosen to tell a story of fiction when the film itself doesn't really seem to take history all too seriously. It's nice though that with Marie Antoinette Coppola makes you think about how Marie Anotinette's life could have been like. Looking how she and her friends go through different boxes of shoes and show there love for the most beautiful fabrics for dresses, like modern day women on a shopping spree,

      Headless Marie Antoinette Costume HowTo
I’ve seen a lot of headless costumes before.  This is definitely one of the best.  It looks much better than the mass store-bought costumes that I’ve seen. Interested in making your own?  You’re in luck.  The builder documented each step of the process.  The best part is that she talks about some missteps and things that she wish she had known during the build, but learned. This is wonderful! http://www.nicolemagne.com/blog/?cat=5

      Marie Antoinette (2006)
"Let them eat cake!" This is a motion picture detailing the life of Marie Antoinette after her betrothal to Louis XVI. From shoes to scandals, this movie outlines Marie Antoinette's nature, and her dedication to a life of fabulousness and outrageousness. We hear her utter those immortal words that caused such an outrage amongst the peasants of France, but we soon learn that it was a lie, as was much of her life. marie antoinette...Enchanté !
I know it was already shown in theaters last year, but I liked it and I saw it two days ago in DVD. Even the soundtrack was really good. I liked the part, when it was her birthday and she watched and waited for the sunrise. Of course, in history she very irresponsible as a queen of france, but i like how the movie depicted her vulnerability and childhood mischievousness, and I praise Sofia Coppola's set design for the movie, from the shoes to the the whole bedroom. I love the dresses, the hair and it was really cute..hahaha. Its a sweet movie, a very opposite from "300", hehe.

      More passion Marie Antoinette!
[Hover to enlarge pictures] © Columbia Pictures The Marie Antoinette movie of Sofia Coppola is a period piece but yet postmodern, not just the ordinary historic costume drama. The soundtrack is full of classic modern rock tracks and she gets away with that, but just barely. We saw it this wednesday and I think that I’m a bit conservative - seeing all these historic costumes made me wanna hear music from the same period! © Columbia Pictures There are excellent scenes from the inside of the magnificent Versailles. I read some where that they got access to Versailles on Mondays when it’s closed to take the scenes. They even got access to Marie Antoinettes private suite, so they really made the environment as authentic as it is possible. © Columbia Pictures We actually went to this movie mostly to see Versailles and these gorgeous 18th century costumes with wide skirts, flounces, bows, most elegant jewellerys and not to forget: hairstyles built on the height. Oh, and the

      marie antoinette - part 3
Marie Antoinette was born on November 2nd, 1755, the inauspicious "Day of the Dead", when Catholics commemorate their departed. Because of the nature of this day, the early birthdays of Marie Antoinette were celebrated on November 1st.I will use this day to commemorate her one last time. It's true that Marie Antoinette was not ready to be Queen of France when she did, and that she didn't reign responsibly, and that her unpopularity with the people precipitated the French Revolution. What many people fail to realize is that her character changed with the difficulties and that many times, during her last years, she did prove herself worthy of being a Queen. After the French Revolution, on October 5th, 1789, a mob of people stormed Versailles in the middle of the night, asking for the Queen's blood. Marie Antoinette was able to escape to the King's apartments and avoid the crowd that got to her room and pierced her empty bed with pikes. The next morning, the mob was still outside the pa

I got a letter from Antoinette Frank this week. SInce my move I have not been able to write like I used to. I did write to Antoinetter last month, explaining my move and my mothers death. She wrote and told me about her new book being published in 2007.She had published a small booklet with a religious publisher last year but I was never able to get a copy. Im not sure if this is the same publisher but from her letter I am led to believe that it is a traditional publisher. Im anxious to get her next letter and hope she goes into more detail. She also forwarded a letter to me from her brother. Also incarcerated. Im not sure for what. He expresses his sympathy on my moms passing and relates his own tragedy. His daughter has passed away and he tried to connect with me on that level.Antoinette was a police officer who, with her cousin, orchestrated and comitted a roberry of a Chineese restaurant that she moonlighted at as a guard. After hours she attempted the robbery which went afoul and

The letter from Antoinette Franks brother Adam is interesting. He says:Yes, I am incarcerated at the infamous Louisana State Penitentiary known as "Angola". Where the rodeos are held. Things have changed considerably from the old days, but theres a few killings and rapes that go on, which are not made known to the public. Then he goes on later to say:...I am 6'5 1/2 " tall, and 287 lbs and very muscular built. I am also a 3rd degree black belt in karate. Which along with other aacquired "Special Operational Tactical Skills From The Military And Police Dept Swat Teams," has landed me in High Prority threat to security and High Priority escape risk. Also including the fact that Im a former computer hacker and was a fugitive once for 7 years. I also have many other special skills which surfaced and caused the authorities to wonder how I had aquired them. Kelly, I usually refrain from telling people this about me, becuase it tends to frighten them away thinking that Im a bad person. Whe

      Marie Antoinette
Despite the films many bad reviews (it drew boos at the Cannes Film Festival) I am still very anxious to watch this movie. I read about one of Frances most famous Queens a long time ago and I had to say she captivated me with her chic style and carelessness. Marie-Antoinette is directed by Sofia Coppola and I am sure she will make it great with her unique style. You probably ask what is a film review doing in a fashion blog? Well to me the films decadence and extravagance has struck me as utterly and beautifully fashionable.
