When it comes to classic films I haven’t seen any of them. People will ask me if I have seen a certain movie and 9 times out of 10 my answer is no. The response I usually get is “What! I originally committed to “Random Dinner Snapshots,” but I’m having a problem with it. We eat dinner around 6:00 or 6:30, and the date changes on Wordpress at 7:00. Last Friday I went to the High Museum's preview of the Annie Leibovitz show, A Photographer's Life: 1990-2005. The tour of the exhibition was led by Leibovitz herself (which was a pleasant surprise!), and let me tell you, she's incredible! On top of that, the way she chose to display her photographs makes for an amazing experience. She explained that her landscape images are blown out so you can experience them the way you would if you were there, the celebrity photos are also large scale, though not as intense as the landscapes -- but it's her personal photos that grab you. She explained that they're much smaller so you are forced to get close to them and really view them personally, and that struck me as such an interesting way to think...the show is fantastic. I really don’t feel bad that Ava is scheming her way into every PV’s hunk’s consciouness. They were all so mean to her so I’m enjoying their gullible-ness. Is that a word? ..LOL. After listening to their vows, pretty much declaring how Annie is saint like, I don’t see Ryan even entertaining the possibility of choosing Greenlee. Plus he’s honorable. Ashley earlier in the week in LA. Still loving the black look. Still adore the bag.MK yesterday in LA. Sporting a decidedly different look than that as of late (for the record though, she has worn these pants earlier in the year, see photo below). Trouser pants are in. They have been on the radar since last spring, but I have not seen many sporting the look. They were seen all over the runway. Higher waists and wider legs. I love this look (tho I still love skinny jeans) and it definitely gives a more equal opportunity wearing option for all body types. Definitely more forgiving. Pants fitting has driven me out of Pattern Review lurkdom. :) I have a short waist (or is that short crotch depth?) and can?t find a pair of grown-up RTW pants that don?t look like I?m wearing a diaper because the crotch hangs down so low. I?m attempting Vogue 8157 as my first pair of pants. I have Pants for Real People and used that method to tissue fit the pattern. I took out an inch and the length/shorten line for the rise. I got everything behaving properly, but when I went to sew the fly I had troubles. I think it?s because I tried to ?true? the fly parts. The fly seems misshapen, and because these pants have such a wide contour waistband, the zipper is only like 2-3? long now and is really hard to work with. What?s the right way to do this? I just made a pair of pants with a contour waistband. The width of the contour gets thinner at the point that has the most bias. It is about 3/8" thinner than the widest point on the waistband. Anyone have any ideas on how to prevent this for future reference? I did interface, but only to the seam allowance. I'm wondering if I should have interfaced to the edge. I'm sure that I cut the pieces exactly even. Now that I've had some success with pants, I'd like to try to get some really well fitting tops. I've got my Kwik Sew turtle neck pattern ready to go! I'm a D cup, so I know I'll need an FBA. My RTW tops have this "bat wing" issue. They fit fine in the shoulders, but there's a bunch if extra fabric in the underarm area, like wings! Would this issue be resolved by an FBA? Because knit tops tend to fit in my shoulders and bust, I'm wondering if I have broad shoulders. My shoulders are 44", my high bust is 35.5" and my bust is 40". Woven tops tend to be tight in the bust and I have all the signs of a board back, especially the reaching forward problem. So I guess my questions are: 1. Where do the batwings come from? 2.
