I generally avoid making too much out of anything Ann Coulter says because so much of it seems to be an act. I guess I'm not sure what to think about Ann Coulter's recent indulgence in hate speech. Well, I guess that is not entirely true. I know what I think about her calling John Edwards a homophobic slur. The part I'm not sure about is how the rest of us should respond in this and similar cases. When I started reading an AP article titled “Has Ann Coulter hit her tipping point?” I didn’t expect it to open with this: Ann Coulter has been a reliable name for years among people who plan television news shows - an attractive, articulate blonde conservative who’s made a living lobbing verbal bombs. I’m not sure how many of you have seen the recent remarks from political talking head Ann Coulter, that have been playing all over the news channels. I know a lot of our T. Not long ago Tim Hardaway made a mistake with a comment he made. I talked about it here. So, it's a little surprising when Ann Coulter made a comment about Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards. And what's worse is that she fully intended to make the comment she made. You can read all about it here. Around the same time, I happened to find an article that I just think is excellent. The article is located here and brings up a lot of good reasons why gay marriage is wrong. No matter which side of the argument you are on, it's well worth the read. The reasons the author gives are hard, in my opinion, to argue against. He lays it out well, and I would encourage anyone to read it.

It looks like Ann Coulter is trying to backtrack a little bit on her "faggot" comment. Her explanation that "faggot" actually meant "wuss" reminds me of John Kerry trying to explain his remark calling the troops dumb was actually meant as a joke about President Bush. Normally, I’m not a fan of the vitriol spewed by Ann Coulter.  In this case, she managed to nail the subject perfectly.  About a month after members of the Duke lacrosse team were falsely accused of raping a stripper last year, 88 members of the Duke faculty fanned the flames of hysteria by signing a letter announcing that they were “listening” to students “who know themselves to be objects of racism and sexism.” Maybe they should have been listening to the accused, several of whom had iron-clad alibis.
