Cette fois on ne suit plus Amon Tobin, cette album est extremement exigeant, et j'ai autre chose à faire que me souiller les oreilles plusieurs heures avant d'apprecier le truc. On ne retrouve plus le petit plus qu'il avant (notament sur Out From Out Where) qui permettant d'apprecier les morceaux pour leur ensemble (parfois même un coté entrainant) autant que pour leur coté experimental, ici un seul coté a été gardé. Tenho vindo nestes últimos tempos a fazer referências aqueles que considero os álbuns que, na minha perspectiva, mais marcaram este ano de 2007. "Foley Room" de Amon Tobin é um desses discos. Seguindo um processo de produção bastante curioso e extremamente original em que, recorrendo a microfones de alta sensibilidade, captou toda uma diversidade de sons aos quais posteriormente deu o seu cunho pessoal, transformando-os numa obra ímpar que percorre toda uma variedade de sub-géneros da música electrónica desde o dub ao drum'n'bass, entrecortando-os com com os mais diversos sons do quotidiano.É este álbum "Foley Room" que agora dá origem a um EP de remisturas de um dos seus temas: "Kitchen Sink". Supermodified is the stunning fourth album from Amon Tobin. Hard-edged tracks like "Four Ton Mantis" and "Saboteur" are juxtaposed against melodic downbeat excursions like "Slowly", "Marine Machines" and "Natureland". "Deo" fuses a Brazilian guitar sample with razor sharp break-beats that sound like Egberto Gismonti jamming with Squarepusher. "Precursor" (a collaboration with Montreal beatboxer Quadraceptor) merges off-the-wall scat rhythms with jazzy guitar riffs. After finishing work on his soundtrack to the video game “Splinter Cell” Tobin decided it as time to re-think his compositional processes. Having made several albums from reconstructed vinyl sources it was time to look at what else could be pulled apart and reconfigured.
