There are more than 70 million votes from last week that will decide what two contestants get the boot from American Idol. Last week was Jon Bon Jovi week and by all accounts it was one of the most meaningless weeks of the year since nobody was eliminated from the show. This week plus last weeks votes will both be included in that selection. It might be bad news for Lakisha Jones and Chris Richardson with their efforts probably being too little too late. Jordin Sparks may be safe and even though Blake Lewis took the biggest risk with his rendition of "You Give Love a Bad Name." Phil Stacey was adequate and Melinda Doolittle was strong as always. Tune in tonight to find out!
Jennifer Lopez is the mentor tonight on American Idol, and it will be interesting to see how the contestants do during Latin week. She will perform tomorrow night for a one hour results show and hopefully it will be the end of Sanjaya. (We can only hope.)

This season of Idol may not have picked up much steam yet (seriously, is one crying girl really the season's highlight so far?), but that could change with tonight's guest -- Gwen Stefani.Last month we heard that glam Gwen was going to perform, but it turns out that the contestants will actually all be singing songs that have inspired Gwen throughout the years.Considering this is a woman who has garnered inspiration from both Madonna and The Sound of Music, the song choice could be all over the map. We're just hoping that little cutie Kingston is in the audience!
It will be interesting how the final 11 fare tonight. The theme this evening is “British Invasion”, songs from the mid ’60’s. Guests will be Lulu and Peter Noone of the “Herman’s Hermits”.
I am hoping that this will be the end of Sanjaya. I’m tired of seeing this kid who can’t sing survive elimination. Please America, let’s not hop on Howard Stern’s bandwagon just to keep Sanjaya alive.
I hope that Blake Lewis wasn’t too scared off by Simon last week, after he bashed him for ruining “You Keep Me Hanging On” with his own arrangement. Sorry Simon, I thought it was pretty cool. Chris Sligh on the other hand, needs to be careful…He dropped from EW’s Power List from #4 to #9. Like I said last week, Chris needs to keep his glasses on…
4 more hours until it’s on…Will be back tonight for a recap.
