Yesterday I mentioned that my dc Talk dance moves frightened my children :)It's Saturday, and I think my bloggy friends deserve a visual. No, I do not have a video of me. But trust me, this video is worth watching. I learned some of my (fabulous) moves from watching it over and over back in the day.I also know every. single. word. I can dance, and rap on the treadmill...I am that talented. I promi

In 1965 the Who sang the ‘The Kids are Alright’. 43 years down the line and I beg to differ with Mr. Townshend. The kids aren’t alright. They seem very wrong indeed.

A new book of photography called Crying Men contains portraits of some of the most respected and accomplished male movie stars of our era, engaged in the kind of emasculating waterworks we're all taught from a very young age is better suited to those who obsesses about designer shoes and tap their feelings out into a computer. ("Later that day I got to thinking about shows of emotion etc etc...")
He still does nutty and dangerous stunts but seems very aware of how his body can be hurt now and what a really bad "hurt" can do. Falls, trips etc.. are accompanied by "I hurt" then " I be alright?" with an imploring look. Frequently he'll say "There's blood on on it" (when there isn't) but bloody wounds are so much more exciting. When there is blood present, the reaction steps way up.
“All right! Already!” How often have we heard these words said in haste as someone blurts out, “All Right! All Ready!”? Maybe you have been the one to abruptly use these words. Today I had the good fortune of hearing...
What I think:Before I get into this, I'd like to share the end of my African scammer story that I wrote about last week. I'd gotten yet another e-mail after my last, somewhat convoluted, response. It read:Dear Mr Mark Base,Please i can't understand you and did not know what you mean by this mail, I ask you for your full informations so that i can give you the bank contact and you are now writeing
"We are young, we run free, we've got teeth, nice and clean." Well, maybe not so much anymore, Gaz. Though we're still not sure how we feel about Supergrass' new Diamond Hoo Ha (though "345" is kind of the jam), nothing gets our blood pumping like this bouncy number off of their classic I Should Coco album. In one of my previous posts, I had written about my car that broken down. Finally diagnosed the problem by the help of a mechanic. You know what had happened? A rodent had bit the PVC rubber tube and this is the tube that passes air when we push the accelerator. Since there was a big hole, the air was forcefully pumped out of the hole that the rodent has created and there was a huge noise when we had started the vehicle. Got a new tube and replaced it.Now comes the question. what if another rodent would not do the same? We had asked the mechanic and then he was mentioning that most of the car owners face this issue and one solution could be to use rat killing baits on the inside of the bonnet on either of the corners. Godd suggestion though but what if the rodent is smart enough?
So I went to my doctor the other day and said, “Hey Doc, it hurts when I do this.” And, he says, “You’ve got diabetes.”
Not the punch line you were expecting? Me neither. Diabetes, Jules. You’ve got diabetes. I shouldn’t have been surprised as it runs rampant in my family.

I enjoyed reading all of the comments on the last post - but I had to share this one in particular with you because it made me laugh so hard my Jolly Rancher became lodged in my throat and I almost died:"I'd let anyone go down on me. Woman, man, goat. Whatever."-- Avitable If I had an award, I'd give it.That's a fucking classic statement right there. And this is coming from Me - Maria - someone who is so freaked out by bestiality [no, it's not beastiality you numbnuts] that she once had to pull her car over and vomit on the side of the road when listening to a guy on Howard Stern describe a donkey show he saw in Mexico. *shudders*Okay, on to my personal opinion regarding universal bisexuality:I do not believe that every person is or has considered being bisexual.I think that there are pe
Here are some miscellaneous shopping links clogging up my inbox.
These are affiliate links, but from time to time I do post other discounts and stuff that aren't that people send me.
(Big hint to the Land's End people: the free shipping thing a while back was a big hit)
Anyway, for whatever it's worth, maybe you're shopping for graduation gifts (Mah baby! Graduating grade school in a few short weeks!) or getting ahead on a Mother's Day gift, here's some links that might be helpful.
Or not. I dunno.
Bonus points to anyone who can identify the song in the title.
Don't Google it, that's no fun.
If anyone enjoys these, I might post stuff like this regularly or make a new page just for discounts.
Or, that might be too much work and you may never see them again.
Who knows, really?

Certe volte si ha proprio bisogno di una canzone cretina dal testo ignorante e dal ritmo allegro per tirarsi su. Per puro caso ho ribeccato il video di un brano dei The Rapture. Vogliamo parlarne del titolo? :)
Pettinger sure creamed Toews with a high hit last night and knocked him on his keester. Unfortunately, I think Toews' stick got up a little high and cut his chops open. Check out the interview with Toews today. He's fine. He won't miss any time. But the docs want him to wear a cage. T Tags: Toews Pettinger hit injury
OK, maybe not quite that yet. But blowing a 2 goal lead and losing for the first time all year when leading after 2 periods is a cause for concern.-Bieksa's terrible coverage of Chimera the Canucks killer on the Overtime goal was cause for concern. Bieksa has been known for defensive errors. I miss Krajicek aready!-If the Sedins played with the heart of Shannon or Raymond we'd be a lot better off. It's time for the coach to call these guys out. When they don't score, we often don't win. They are the go-to guys. Time to step it up.-Playing non-playoff teams that are playing with desperation will be a theme this month. If the Canucks don't get it together and stop blowing 3rd period leads, they will be on the outside looking in REAL QUICK. Tonight we just watch and see if the Nucks get bounc

In case you’re wondering where the song recommendation for this Shabbat is, as is the ‘tradition’ of our household to post one every Shabbat, it has moved to another blog.
Huh?
I’ve decided to start up a new blog to document my Christian walk as accompanied by some of the best Christian music from when I first started listening to them till the present.
So it will be so that from now on, all music recommendations for Shabbat will also be posted on the new blog, aptly named Sing To The LORD!. In addition, there’ll be regular posts featuring some of my favorite tunes and artistes, as well as my take on the Christian music scene, album reviews, etc.
The blog was started just yesterday, but I’ve left off on the announcement till I’ve got some content posted up. Now that a good amount of content is in, and since it’s also Shabbat starting from sunset later, it’s a good day as any to let you know.
Do pay the new blog a visit if you love m

It’s been a good five years or so since Bogdan last graced listeners with his presence, and in that time he’s not only had a secret underground collaboration with Bjork but has also apparently collected his best recipes for a sultry cookbook. ‘Alright!’ is a hugely entertaining eight track album in a classic Braindance style, shifting from raved-up gabba-lite to Junglist tumbles, 8-bit pop segments and padded IDM. There really is nothing to dislike about this set, it breezes through effortlessly and raised several nostalgic smiles in the office all afternoon, a mark of its signature production style and of Bogdan’s rightful place as one of the originators of that sound. Just don’t leave it another 5 years eh?

sorry to leave you hanging like that, but the boy turned out fine. he's graduated to the sippy-cup, but still hasn't quite mastered the motor skills. he's close, but fortunately he's figured out the mechanics of gravity to help him out.
I spent all of today, bar about an hour when I had a wander round Next and went and bought some more food for the bunny, playing Civilization IV. This might not sound like much of an achievement, but it's better than staying in bed until 11 then lying on the futon watching constant repeats of Top Gear on the preposterously named Dave. I could probably do with getting some more air though, so I shall have a think about what to do with myself tomorrow. Must also stop eating the scampi fries I bought on Saturday, I can feel myself getting fatter.

I found this store by accident in Echo Park, and I just LOVE it! With the holiday shopping season officially kicking off, I am SO excited to find out they are having a sale this weekend! If you haven't checked them out yet, you can view their website and check out their online store. But really, if you can, stop in! They have WAY more merchandise in their retail store, than they are showing in their online store. I promise, well worth checking out!
It's not even Thanksgiving yet and I just ordered our Christmas cards. Now, if I can just get them in the mail in the next five weeks! This is one of the very cute rejected pictures for the card. Look, Becca's even sticking her tongue out!Oh, almost done with the shopping too!
The girls are sleeping and the wife is at some girl’s party, so the computer is all mine, mine, mine…I did some extensive music shopping today and spent my weekly pocket money on 5 CD’s. One of them was the debut solo album Every Streetcar’s Got A Name by Michael Møller (the voice of moi Caprice). As the reviews have been very positive, my expectations were pretty high and luckily I wasn’t disappointed as the 16 songs are heartfelt and stunningly beautiful. But also a bit (actually a lot) more minimalistic than you'd expect, so it's certainly not an attempt to continue the sound of moi Caprice in his own name. I’ve asked for permission to post a track of the album, though I’m not all that optimistic that I’ll get it.Yesterday Exitfare posted two demo tracks by Concerto for Constantine; the new band of Mark Greaney of JJ72. Really hate to say that I'm not impressed as perhaps every JJ72 song was better than any of these. It's as if he's trying to change direction a
Sorry, it's been a long month. But I'm back. With a theory. A very high quality theory. It regards Chris Jericho's return to the WWE. Honestly, I don't think he is coming back. I think the WWE is just getting smarter. Why is the WWE getting smarter? Well since he didn't show up at Cyber Sunday (a huge letdown of a PPV by the way) everyone was expecting him at RAW. Hell, even I was expecting him to show up at RAW. But did he? No. He was at a book signing instead.I think the WWE is just manipulating the internet, and its working. I think the WWE signed Jericho to a contract, but it wasn't to wrestle. It was to not wrestle. It was also to keep Monday nights open, and never say he wouldn't wrestle again. A clause in this contract probably also included not signing with TNA.As insane and untrue as this sounds, think about it. Cause right now... It seems like this is actually what took place.
This doctor's past always brings about a certain silence within the GMC. The doctor was under the wing of Dr David Graham Postgraduate Dean at Liverpool. We are led to believe that Shamala injected neat potassium and caused the death of a patient. Now, any medical student knows about potassium. She was retrained and put back into the NHS and is now happily working somewhere near someone. The newspaper below failed to identify her. The Registration Details fails to tell us what went on. Therefore there is no way for the public to know what happened. We though feature the responses from the various places where FOI requests were made. With a huge amount of detective work, the identity was discovered. Dr David Graham the Revalidation Tsar refused to provide the identity of this doctor. I though wanted to raise this issue not to drag Rajalingam through the web but really to point out the inconsistency in decision making at the General Medical Council when dealing with Pre-registration hou
The Boston Red Sox have quite an impressive array of prestigious veteran players. David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Jason Varitek, Mike Lowell, and Curt Schilling are legendary name in MLB. But the reason Boston won game three of the 2007 World Series Saturday night and find themselves leading the Colorado Rockies 3-0 was due to the rookies. On the offensive end it was Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia, and on the pitching end it was Daisuke Matsuzaka, with second year closer Jonathan Papelbon coming in to put it away as Boston beat Colorado 10-5. Boston now finds themselves one victory away from their second World Series title in four years after an infamous 86 year drought.Game One was a blowout, Game Two was a pitcher's duel, Game Three was a rollercoaster. Boston broke open a scoreless tie as they beat up Colorado starter Josh Fogg scoring six runs in the top of the third. Dice-K for five and a third innings had the Rockies completely confused, but left the game in the sixth after allo

The following story proves that a maternal bond...er... can’t always be... posted.Allow us to explain.A precocious young’un in Hilltown, Pennsylvania, precocious not because he could solve cubic polynomials in his head or compose didactic sonnets but because he drove drunk at a middle-aged level-- was nabbed by cops engaging in the type of driving that would even cause road rage on the bumper car circuit. The cops, sensing that the 16-year old had recently gotten his swerve on, administered a breathalyzer to the toasted young helmsman in the wee hours of the morning. Registering top marks on the device, the fuzz contacted the ruffian’s mom to come and pick up the blasted DUI valedictorian. His mom, who we’ll call ‘stupid’ here to protect her identity, herself engaging in the ‘how the hell else am I supposed to get there, walk?’ school of drunk driving, failed the field sobriety tests at the police station upon arrival. Mama was promptly arrested on DUI charges as well.
OverkillTimbaland is producing the next Beyonce record. Look out for that summer of '08. Its going to be "Deja Vu" all over again.Last ShotJD says Janet's new album is 45% done and look for duets and collaborations with Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Rodney Jerkins, and The Dream. The album is slated to be released in February, March or the latest summer. I think they will want to reconsider that summer release with Beyonce coming out. Janet know she has to really come back hard this time. This is her last shot! I think she will be "Alright" though.

Pete Prisco, ranking the NFL teams over at CBS...Daunte Culpepper might be the guy for a while. He's earned that. The Raiders are tied for first. Can you believe it?Yeah, he basically got the start for Oakland because Josh McCown got hurt. When you can't beat out Josh McCown, you haven't earned anything. And you can argue that he accounted for 5 Td's, but that's because Miami's defense can't even stop a comatose midget right now.But hey, you had a huge passing day going 5 for 12 for a whopping 75 yards Daunte. That's starting job material right there according to Pete.
Last night was the first time in a long time that I felt energetic and hopeful for the future. Why? Because the Palinode has finally received word that he is on a list to have surgery to correct his broken back sometime within the next two months. Between my cancer, subsequent hysterectomy, and now the Palinode's back, it is such a relief to be looking at what will hopefully be the final leg

Since I had a hysterectomy on July 3rd, I keep asking myself if I feel different physically. There are some obvious answers to that question. I had abdominal surgery, and despite the fact that it was done laparoscopically, which is technically less invasive, I still have abdominal discomfort. A combination of four abdominal incisions plus one internally where my cervix used to sit, the resituation of various internal bits like my intestines and my bladder, and spending a lot of time sitting or lying down for over a month means that I have limited abdominal and lower back strength at the moment. As long as I am not carrying anything over a few pounds, I can go for walks, but one walk equals one nap. Doing dishes equals one nap. Going for lunch equals one nap.I am not a napper. I have shunned napping since I was a tiny kid, much to my mother's chagrin. I always want to be awake and thinking and doing stuff, because sleep cuts into all that conscious experience I could be having.
So I went to Bristol for a fortnight and did a really crappy job of blogging on a regular basis (and by “on a regular basis” I of course mean “at all”). Apologies. The good news is that I now have an enormous backlog of exciting things to share with you.

The term “quagmire” and the beginnings of its overuse hark back to the Vietnam War; becoming part of the popular lexicon following the publication of David Halberstam’s Pulitzer Prize winning account of the Diem/Kennedy years of the Vietnam War, "The Making of a Quagmire." Just about every military intervention of the U.S. since Vietnam has been referred to as a “quagmire,” in one form or another. It has become a catchphrase that speaks volumes, however elicits no details other than the minds eye portrays. Once labeled a “quagmire” a war or battle has likely heard its last level headed remark made about it; that goes for those in support of or against the conflagration in question. There has to be a time that we will remove the majority of our forces from Iraq, however, a specific date cannot be selected and certainly not when things might be taking the kind of turn that may give us the first glimmer of a paced exodus that is actually based on a

I'd love to see Bush impeached as much as the next liberal Democrat, but until he's officially committed a crime, there's nothing to impeach him. Also, challenging a sitting Speaker of the House in a primary because she didn't do something she technically can't even do is counterproductive.I've had about enough of Cindy Sheehan...I sympathize with, but enough now.
When we first heard the news about a concert to mark the tenth anniversary of Diana, Princess Of Wales' death, we had our reservations. We imagined a stadium full of the worst kind of Diana fans - you know the sort, they've got a twelve-inch illuminated plate (inscribed with "The People's Princess") hanging above the oven and a doorbell that plays The Lady In Red. However, yesterday's seven hour marathon was one of the best large events that we have seen for some time. That's not to say that the crazed fans weren't present of course. One older lady was in tears before Elton John had finished playing the introduction to Your Song and another young woman was dressed in a Union Jack mini-dress and matching knee high boots. Even with my flag fetish, I thought it was a bit overkill (but let's face it, I would have probably still given her one). However, regardless of their reasons for attending, the majority of people enjoyed a better-than-expected day out.So, what were the highs and
Comics Should be Good thinks its a horrific mess, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were. (Interestingly enough, on Dick Hates Your Blog, blogmaster Hyacinth ran a poll about this, and I discovered on said poll that all those who cast their votes think Meltzer is even worse than Bendis). Let's hope that Brad Meltzer doesn't ever get hired to work on any major comic books ever again, because it's high time already to be hiring writers according to how well they understand the concepts, and not out of publicity stunts.

Anyone who reads my blogs knows that Delirious? is one of my favorite bands. This morning I was listening to one of their songs titled “Every Little Thing (Is Gonna Be Alright),” and I started thinking about the words. More specifically, I started thinking about the word little.
As Christians we usually understand that “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (Rom. 8:28). The problem is that we all too often think of this in a big scale. At least I do. What I mean is that I often trust God to handle the big issues; the major things. When a car breaks down and I am left without transportation, I trust God to work the situation out for the best. When a disease flares up or an unexpected bill arrives in the mail, I trust that God will sort everything out for the best. But as I was listening to the song “Every Little Thing” this morning I started to think about how God wa

Saturday night and here I sit in peace, alone. I'm not quite sure what to do with myself, it's late, but I'm not tired. Mike's out with my brother and a friend. GNO (Guys Night Out) which is great for him. He needs it, and deserves it. I didn't put up a fight at all since I got to sleep in until 10am!! That's right bitches. Ten-o-freakin'-clock!
I completed a really fun design job today for the
Janice Dickinson and Kristin Cavallari in hot white pants (source)Once upon a time, I had a pair of highly coveted white Bongo jeans. I proudly wore them with a dusty blue t-shirt bespeckled with daisies, which was carefully tucked into said jeans and rolled at the sleeves. Paired with my buckled cork sandals and a scrunchie on my wrist, I was ready to go. That was ten years ago, and I honestly never thought that white jeans would see the light of day again.Apparently, I was wrong, and La Cavallari and Janice-baby have schooled me on the way to wear white. Despite the fact that most white jeans are magnets for coffee drips, black scuff marks from swings and (yeesh), the dreaded mark of "that time of the month," Janice and Kristin almost make me want to weather those hazards. So, in all, do you think that white is alright? At first, I thought that white jeans were completely antiquated, but they have started to grow on me. I can see these looking awfully fresh for spring with a cute gree
So we lost the Carling Cup final to Chelsea. However, like most other Arsenal fans, this is a game where I can look at the positives as these certainly outweigh the negatives. Firstly – it is never nice to lose a cup final whatever team the manager puts out. And secondly, the melee / scuffle (whatever you want to call it) wasn’t pretty and, needless to day, the press are having a field day with it (what a surprise). The FA will almost certainly hand out fines, bans etc. (well, they have to look as if they’re actually doing something don’t they?) but we can only hope the punishments will not be too severe. Personally I think the ref should have brandished a few yellow cards and gotten on with it – it was in injury time after all. But that would be common sense and unfortunately this is not in abundance amongst Premiership referees.
But, what a game! And what a performance by the ‘young guns’ (Sorry – I couldn’t resist). In particul
I was faster than I thought I would be. Anyone can poke me via e-mail to get the new URL. I won't post anything here anymore, and I won't post anything on MySpace or the other 10 blogs anymore. Only on the new one. Thanks for the fun here. =)
Alright, by the nature and tone of several of the comments, I can see that my last post took on a particularly political color. First of all, I don't usually discuss politics on my blog for several reasons:#1 - There is already a preponderance of "political blogs" out there and to be honest? They only appeal to like-minded people. It's not like there are people out there posting about the war in Iraq and initiating a dispassionate discourse about the merits of diplomacy versus war.#2 - If I thought I could get folks in our nation to heal by exchanging their divergent views and behave constructively, then trust me, I would spend sixteen hours a day writing about politics.#3 - I like a lot of different people regardless of their political affiliations. I think too often, personal politics get in the way of otherwise wonderful relationships. Here at QofD I would prefer to relate to people on more common ground. I want to make you laugh and entice you to share your own experiences in the
Okay I'm probably behind the curve on this one because it's a little late, but I thought I'd embed the video of saddam's hanging here, it's shot with a cameraphone so it's not the best footage, but you see the whole thing, pretty interesting though. Well, courtesy of YouTube, here it is:
Alright, here we go again. I've found another blog that I truly am enjoying. I swear to you even up until six months ago I swore I wasn't going to do the blog thing. No way, no how! My mom started a blog before Sam and I did and at the time I thought "what a waste of time!" (sorry mumsy when you read this!) Of course now I read her blog and while I've been to Bird in the Hand before I came across it again last week and am enchanted. This lovely little blog is written by Lisa Congdon of San Francisco and you can find it at http://www.birdinthehand.typepad.com/ . Her art is beautiful, interesting and Sam and I are going to have to drive up to the city and visit some venues where she shows her work. For some reason I was drawn to this particular piece of her artwork and thought it interesting that Lisa seemed a bit unsure of her flower painting ability(?). She says, "this is probably only the second or third time i've ever painted flowers in my life. and neither of the first two times
Since time seems to be a theme for me in some of my other blogs, I might as well continue with the 'time thread' and share with you a short video of a Maui friend of mine, Steve Zuwala, singing "It's About Time".The photo is of a large redwood tree. I took it at Polipoli (upcountry Maui) several years ago--600 acres and many beautiful old redwood trees were destroyed in the recent Maui fire. If you read that post, check out the comments which accompanies it, for a reader sent me really great quality photos of the horrible fire.Click here for the video!Technorati Tags:Steve Zuwala, YouTube, music, It's About Time
