Alistair Darling was interviewed on the Today programme this morning and announced that he was appointing Sir James Crosby, ex HBOS chief executive, to chair a Review examining how to boost confidence in the rapidly shrinking mortgage market. He said "Mr Crosby will talk with the Bank of England and the FSA to see if we can get more money into the system."
The good news:
The Chancellor said “we want to move quite quickly. I do think it is important that we take measures to help people get through what is undoubtedly a difficult period."
The bad news:
"I have asked him to report back this summer."
So although Mr Darling recognises the urgency of the problem he thinks a report in the summer, which no doubt means the end of summer, i.e. September, is good enough.
Having been Chief Executi

This morning I caught a news item on the Radio about Alistair Darling being barred from pubs for all the tax rises in the price of drinks. Here is the audio.

I cant wait for Shogun's next fight in the UFC, he's too good to dissapear into abscurity. He obviously had some problems with the transition from the ring to the cage as he was known for viscious stomps, soccer kicks and knees on the ground. I hope he doesn't fight a can in his next fight because I wanna see him come back with a vengence against a worthy opponent. In this fight at Pride 33 he unleashes one of the hardest, lightning fast, powerful downward ground punches you'll ever see.Ultimate MMA videos for your viewing pleasure. I’d like to say a few things about two very prominent people in the modern debate over religion and anti-theism. They are Christopher Hitchens and Alistair McGrath.
I’ve been meaning to write about Hitchens for a while now, but after watching his recent debate with McGrath on YouTube, I wanted to comment on both of them. (This article will be more effective if you watch all 11 parts of the debate first.)
Christopher Hitchens is a true intellectual. After reading God Is Not Great (twice) and watching almost of all his debates, I see a man who very much knows what he’s talking about. He has a deep reservoir of literary, philosophical, cultural, and political knowledge to draw upon. He speaks with authority, and import. One of his fears is one that should never be realised: being boring. Listening to him speak at length is almost mesmerising. It is, for me, fascinating and intriguing.
The reason for this is actually quite simple: Hitchens is direct. He doesn’t mi
In the post directly above this one, I used the example of a runner called Sipho Ngomane to show how SA is losing out on potentially talented runners because of a desire to push runners into marathons and ultras well before their time. So in Sipho Ngomane, we have a 23 year old who was running 2 marathons, 2 Ultras and a half marathon in the space of 6 months. He ended up injured and is likely to never realise his full potential - he should be running 28 min 10km, 61 min half marathons and could have been our next world class marathon runner. On the other end of the extreme is Alistair Cragg, pictured right. Who, you might ask? Well, if you are South African, you may be interested to know that Alistair Cragg is the fastest South African runner ever at 5000m! Yes, faster than the SA record holder, but unfortunately, he was running for Ireland at the time when he ran 13:11 (the SA record is 13:14!). He has since run 13:07, making him the fastest SA runner by 7 seconds, but he was we
Alistair Griffin - You And MeHave you ever loved someone,But you waited just too long,To tell them what you’re feeling.Maybe I was just too proud,To say I love you right out loud,Found the words I must believe in.On this night, it holds us both within,Set me free, oh let me live again.CHORUSIt’s you and me tonight,With these feelings we can fight,Just two people lost but made it found together,And if we make it through,Then tomorrow find the truth,You know I would fall,I would risk it all,Just for you.Gotta find a way somehow,Cause all we have is here and now,It can wait until tomorrow. If the morning comes too soon,We’ll run away and chase the moon,Like a dream well you must follow. If you go, I won’t be in your way,In my eyes, is all I have to say.CHORUSI never realized that I waited just too long,And now I recognize it was you all along. You And Me (Tonight) Bring It On Alistair Griffin Download
We may not all be blessed with Angelina Jolie's smoking hot body, but at least we can steal her effortlessly chic style. Angelina was recently spotted (see photo at left) sporting the curve hugging "OM" Wrap Dress from Sir Alistair Rai. This micro-Modal deep-v wrap dress with Swarovski crystal designs on the back combines a stylish look with a touch of eastern thinking: the back reads "Compassion Karma Unity & Peace."Sir Alistair Rai "OM" Wrap Dress$250.00Available at: BoutiqueToYouThis flowing dress comes in Black (shown right) and Grey, each with the same Swarovski crystal "OM" design on the back. This dress looks hot as is, but could easily be paired with a camisole or tank top for those of us who lack Angelina Jolie's ability to "fill out" a plunging v-neck.
