Verizon Communications and AT&T won the majority share of a $19.12 billion auction of airwaves being given up by television broadcasters. The auction started January 24, 2008 and ended last Tuesday after 260 round of bidding. According to auction results released yesterday, Verizon and AT&T won over $16 billion of licenses.  The companies plan to use the airwaves to improve existing voice and data services and launch new wireless technologies. Whoa I can’t believe I haven’t heard of Angels and Airwaves until now! I’ve always been a Blink 182 and Boxcar Racer fan and I was pretty dismayed when I heard about Blink’s break up. The new CBC produced Hockey Night in Canada weekday radio broadcast was definitely the hockey related media program I was most looking forward to this season. The most surprising aspect of the new production is that it was so long in arriving. The Hockey Night in Canada telecast is the biggest money maker for the national broadcasting corporation. The drive-time hockey show has the potential to increase the popularity of the weekly television match-ups even more. Because throughout their debut album, We Don't Need to Whisper, he relies on sounds and textures borrowed from 1988, the era when college rock was filled with atmospheric sonics and earnest politics.

Following Google's announcement that it would make a misguided move into newspaper ad space buying, late news comes that the search giant may buy $1 billion in radio inventory. The clear winner in this would be radio giant Clear Channel. If Google buys such a large block of time from the radio chain, Clear Channel's flagging fortunes is an ailing industry could be reversed, at least temporarily. Four years ago, Clear Channel's stock traded at $53. It now changes hands around $35, having made a move up from $28 on but-out rumors. Still, it is by no means certain that Google's second foray into tradition media this week will work. The system Google is offering will allow its advertising customers to use its Adsense system to sign up for radio advertising by picking radio advertising the way it would AdWords. Google argues that this is an efficient means for buying time on stations. But, is it? Radio is targeted by region first, and then by demographic segment and programming type. Bu

Sorry, but this guy doesn't help the cause.  If you're trying to win in Tennessee, Montana, Virginia and Missouri, why are the Dems running this guy 24/7 the last few days?   What kind of strategy is that? When Murtha, Biden and Obama were making the rounds, the Democrats' poll numbers were high.  As soon as Kerry and Dean were trotted out, the poll numbers went south.  What are the Democrats thinking?  Howard Dean was just interviewed on CNN.  When asked "what is your prediction for tomorrow" he replied "When I've made predictions before I've been wrong, so I'm not going to make any."  Kyra Phillips followed up by saying "But Ken Mehlman was just on and he predicted victory for the GOP, you won't predict it for Democrats?"  And you know what Howard Dean said?  He still said he wouldn't make predictions.
