Dump the male flight attendants. No one wanted them in the first place. Replace all the female flight attendants with good-looking strippers! What the hell -- they don't even serve food anymore, so what's the loss? The strippers would at least triple the alcohol sales and get a 'party atmosphere' going in the cabin. And, of course, every businessman in this country would start flying again, hoping to see naked women. Because of the tips, female flight attendants wouldn't need a salary, thus saving even more money. I suspect tips would be so good that we could charge the women for working the plane and have them kick back 20% of the tips, including lap dances and 'special services. Muslims would be afraid to get on the planes for fear

Eos Airlines Inc., a transatlantic, all-business-class airline, filed for bankruptcy protection over the weekend and said it will shut down Sunday, becoming the fourth U.S. carrier to go out of business this month. Rising fuel prices, tight credit markets and the slowing economy are wreaking havoc on all U.S. carriers. But smaller, less well-funded companies are proving unable to withstand the challenges. Aloha AirGroup Inc., ATA Airlines Inc. and Skybus Airlines Inc. ceased operations earlier in April and Frontier Airlines Holdings Inc., filed for bankruptcy protection but continues to operate. Closely held Eos, based in Purchase, N.Y., earlier this month said it expected to receive $50 million in new capital from a current investor, "financing needed to take us to corporate profitability

In the recent years, many people all over the world have taken up travelling. Especially, the tourist inflow in India has increased tremendously. This has subsequently led to increase in a number of low cost airlines in India. Low cost airlines refer to airlines that offer discount airfares. Low cost airlines in India have made travelling easier and affordable for numerous travellers. Since they offer huge discounts, these low cost airlines make travelling by air attractive and cheap. Different airlines follow different cost cutting strategies to offer the best price to their customers. As air travelling is much faster and comfortable, it is easier to find low cost airlines for short haul flights rather than long haul flights. The common term used in the low cost airline industry is 'no f
At the airport for a trip, I settled down to wait for the boarding announcement at Gate 35.Then I heard the voice on the public address system saying, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Flight 570 will board from Gate 41." So my family picked up our luggage and carried it over to Gate 41. Not ten minutes later the public address voice told us that Flight 570 would in fact be boarding from Gate 35.So again we gathered our carry-on luggage and returned to the original gate. Just as we were settling down, the public address voice spoke "Thank You for participating in the Airlinr's physical fitness program."

Xiamen Airlines of China is negotiating with Boeing to buy 25 additional 737-800 single-aisle jets, according to China’s Xinhua news agency. The order would be worth $1.8 billion at list prices.Boeing already has delivered five new 737-800s to Xiamen , and the airline has 27 more on order. With the addition of a few leased jets, Xiamen plans to have 60 new 737-800s by 2013, Xinhua said. Its growth is fueled by regional economic development and increasing business ties between Xiamen and Taiwan.
AP - The airline industry was battered Tuesday by worse-than-expected losses and skyrocketing fuel prices, portending a worst-of-times vacation season of jammed planes, delayed flights and higher fares.

United Airlines said on Sunday it was increasing fees it charges passengers to change tickets from USD$100 to USD$150 in an effort to combat higher fuel costs.A spokeswoman for the airline said in a statement that the company this weekend made the change to its ticketing policy. It also added a Saturday night stay requirement on all tickets where it competes head-to-head with other legacy carriers, which she said will affect 65 percent of all the markets it serves. That will have the most impact on business travelers, who typically don't want to spend a Saturday night in their destination.US airlines have announced a number of fare, fee and fuel surcharge increases recently as they battle higher fuel prices and a weakening economy.United has raised fares by USD$4 to USD$30 per round-trip de
Increasing fuel price on the global market has left an impact on the revenue of Viet Nam Airlines Corp., forcing the State-run corporation to pay more for fuel bills for its domestic and international flights.
Viet Nam Airlines said in a quarterly business report released last week that it had to pay over VN490bil (over US$30mil) more than previously projected for the fuel bills in the period.
Pacific Airlines and the Vietnam Air Petrol Company (Vinapco) did not reach any agreement at the April 16 meeting, which also means that the Ministry of Finance (MOF) will have to get involved in the case to chair the negotiating table.
On April 18, Vinapco sent a report to the Competition Administration Department (CAD) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, announcing that the negotiation

The typical low cost airline operates on a point-to-point basis. Costs are kept down as there are no bags to check through to another flight, and no waiting for connections due to delayed flights. Some of the low cost airline networks have become so big though that passengers independently book multi leg flights to get to where they want to go as it still works out cheaper than booking through a scheduled airline. There is the risk that if your first flight is delayed and you miss the connection you will lose your second flight, but if you are savings hundreds of £/€/$'s, it is a gamble I know many take.Tigers Airways offers the ability to booking two flights in the one booking session with their Flight Combo service. This is a great idea as it saves you having to work out if bot

American Airlines follows Delta and opens their own blog in order to provide news to their passengers. The blog is titled "AA Conversations", and not surprisingly the first post had to apologize for the 3,000 flights they had to cancel during April due to maintenance of their MD-80 fleet. Another web site that shows internal news and stories from American Airlines is "Tell Your AA Story", which was created by "a group of concerned American Airlines employees".
American Airlines today announced that after cancelling over 3,000 flights last week, it was returning all its planes to full service tomorrow.“Because we’d been losing money on every flight, it was great saving all that money by not flying,” a spokesperson said. “But we’ve milked this as long as we can.”Officials pronounced the week-long voluntary grounding program an unqualified success.“Not only did we save a few million bucks, but the public is blaming the FAA, not us, for all the flight cancellations,” the spokesperson said. “Thus, we expect even further dividends from our program down the road. Now the public will start putting pressure on the FAA to back off on their safety rules and regulations, and with those onerous obligations out of the way, we can continue to
Delta and Northwest announced merger plans yesterday and last week Frontier Airlines files for bankruptcy protection. You can bet there will be more merger announcements to follow shortly following the Delta/Northwest deal. The media keeps reporting that fare increases will likely result. Fares need to increase, after every major carrier has stuck their hands into the pockets of their employees and with oil prices at a record high, how else are they going to stay in business? It is still cheaper to fly than it is to drive across country. Last I checked Ford or any other auto maker is not going to subsidize anyones trip, so why should the airlines? Frankly I am sick of the public expecting to fly roundtrip coast to coast for $200. Flights are full and no one is making a profit? WTF? I don'

Asian carriers have often offered lower fares than their European or American rivals. Now they are starting to catch the wave of discount airlines, pioneered in the US and Europe. If you've read the news over the past two days one of the leading stories is that American Airlines has cancled 1,000 flights. Unfortunately I have been snagged in this travel nightmare today. Airlines are going on a diet to survive.clipped from www.cnn.com With jet fuel prices so high, airlines have no choice but to scour their planes for ways to lighten the load. There's no room for even the smallest bits of dead weight, from redundant wing lights to extra wires in the walls. Manufacturers also are using lighter materials in plane construction.clipped from www.cnn.com "Reducing consumption is a certainty," Heimlich said. "You're always going to win by consuming less energy." To that end, carriers have pulled out unused ovens, magazine racks and trash compactors during the past few years. Some removed paper manuals in the cockpit and installed electronic maintenance logbooks. Last year, American replaced its silverware on business and first class with another set that was made
AP - A slowing economy and high fuel prices appear to have killed off tiny ATA Airlines, Aloha Airlines, and Champion Air. A big pile of cash will keep the big airlines from that same fate, for now.

The fact is that most of the world’s oil is controlled not by the major oil companies but by the national oil companies - Saudi Aramco, Gazprom, Kuwait Oil, Pemex, etc. ExxonMobil produces only 3% of the world’s oil - hardly enough to control prices. Much of the oil it refines is bought on the [...]
I know of a kid who only spoke about the Nintendo (portable) Gameboy I got for his Christmas present. And before the first week of January was out, a majority of his school friends had parents who bought the same thing for them. I was amazed. This kid was a natural salesman!
All he did was talk [...]
Hawaii has just lost roughly 15 percent of it's mainland arrivals in the last few days... that's pretty big news here. I've already had to juggle my schedule next week to accomodate divers who were delayed a couple days trying to get here, may lose a charter or two out of it. I currently have customers who are diving with me who just found out today (from Cathy and I) they might not have a way home set up at this point... the ATA flights are going to be tough to replace right away. Apparently Hawaiian is trying to add what flights they can, but they can only do so much. It'll be curious to see how this all shakes out. It was very quiet at the harbor today, several of the boats I see regularly at the boat ramp and boat wash at the end of the day weren't on the water today. I know at least
Thieves Steal Phone Cable for Money
Just a couple of quick last minute Friday updates.
So the reason I’ve been without internet access at home for almost three days is because there has been an increase in thieves jumping down manholes, cutting telephone cables and striping the wire out to resell for the cooper.

It's the end of an era of over 60 years. It'll be curious as to how this all shakes out. The State will ask the bankruptcy court to not allow the closure but that may not have any effect. Expect another airline to come in and purchase what remains of the company in a short time... hopefully.Aloha and Hawaiian had attempted to merger a few years back to attempt to create a larger, healthy company. The state wouldn't allow it despite pricing lock guarantees. When that fell through prices went up and the two companies have been struggling to do well since. Go Airlines came in a couple years ago and has offered artificially low prices which has weakened both companies. While benefitting passengers for the short term, it's made it tough for everyone to operate. Both companies have sued
