He is scheduled to appear Monday at a question-and-answer session with Columbia faculty and students as part of the school’s World Leaders Forum. The State Department calls Iran a state sponsor of terror. Ahmadinejad has called the Holocaust “a myth” and urged for Israel to be destroyed. Iran has achieved a landmark, with 3,000 centrifuges fully working in its controversial uranium enrichment program, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced Wednesday.
Ahmadinejad has in the past claimed that Iran succeeded in installing the 3,000 centrifuges at its uranium enrichment facility at Natanz. But Wednesday’s claim was his first official statement that the plant is now fully operating all those centrifuges.
Experts say 3,000 centrifuges are in theory enough to produce a nuclear weapon, perhaps as soon as within a year.
Iran says it plans to expand its enrichment program to up to 54,000 centrifuges at Natanz in central Iran - which would amount to the level of industrial-scale uranium enrichment.

Entering talks with Ahmadinejad over what? Somehow I doubt that President Bush will be entering into talks with Ahmadinejad any time soon. In his recent visit to New York Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made a laughing stock of himself, even amongst the left who were already predisposed to like him. His statements that there are no gays in Iran brought laughter from most of the audience. Iran is like the little dog nipping at the heels of people walking by its yard. It makes a lot of noise but has tiny teeth and runs with its tail tucked between its legs the second you turn to confront it. And sadly enough they lack the common sense to even realize they are messing with the big dogs when they mess with America. I do not want us to go into Iran militarily. Nevertheless, that decision is ultimately up to them. ~RJH FARS News Agency article link Bush Has No Option But Entering Talks with Ahmadinejad TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Given the clear, strong and transparent rationale of the Iranian presid

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Venezuela's Hugo Chavez have agreed to intensify their fight against U.S. world domination, the Venezuelan president said Friday. Basically, free speech has two dimensions: one constitutional, one cultural. They are related but separate.
For example, Ed Koch at Yahoo News has it all wrong:
In his defense, Bollinger’s supporters constantly invoke the concepts of free speech and the First Amendment. But in this case they simply don’t apply.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution reads as follows: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
No government action was taken to stop Columbia and Bollinger from extending the invitation and holding the event as the
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad very effectively made a laughing stock of himself at Columbia University when he insisted there are no gays in Iran. Even the faculty and students who were previously slobbering all over him were laughing out loud at his ridiculous statement. Sometimes the bad guys just take care of themselves. ~RJH
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was an unexpected hit at Columbia University on Monday. "He's like the Iranian Yakov Smirnoff," said one attendee. "Except funny."At first it looked like Ahmadinejad was going to bomb. "Let me tell a joke here," Ahmadinejad began. "I think the politicians who are after atomic bombs, or testing them, making them, politically they are backward, retarded."The audience could only shrug and assume that the joke was funnier in Farsi.Soon, however, the ruler of the repressive, theocratic police state hit his stride, pretending to be angry at Israel for "persecuting" Palestinians. His explanation of Iran's nuclear program was also a hit. "Our nuclear program is for energy, not weapons," he deadpanned.Ahmadinejad, whose dry, absurdist wit has provoked comparisons to Steven Wright and Norm MacDonald, clearly is not afraid to take risks with his material. The nuclear energy joke, for example, relies on the audience's understanding that Iran sits on t
Fred08 article link Fred Thompson Statement on Ahmadinejad at Columbia University McLean, VA - Senator Fred Thompson issued the following statement today regarding Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's appearance this afternoon at Columbia University: "Columbia University gave a public forum today to a tyrant to spread his lies and deceit. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made a mockery of free speech by standing in front of an auditorium of academicians and students and denying the existence of the Holocaust and his deadly intentions toward Israel. "I find it ironic that Iran's president accepted an invitation to speak at Columbia University, since students who dissent on Iranian campuses are not met with debate, they are met by a gun and imprisonment. A few months ago, eight college students were imprisoned in Iran's notorious Evin Prison for publishing articles and cartoons critical of Iran's government in a student-run newspaper. The Evin facility has been described as I
The Democrats just lost the 2008 election. They will not be able to overcome the Far-Left’s insanity. Stick a fork in them; they are done.If it was not bad enough that Moveon.org attacked 4-star General Petraeus, calling him ‘General Betray Us,’ Moveon.org has continued their disgraceful antics over the last few weeks. Consequently, many Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, were forced to take the indefensible position of siding against those who are trying to secure Iraq.We have heard from an unnamed insider that the Democrats in Congress are furious over the Moveon.org ad. While many Democrats really believe that the War in Iraq is wrong, some of them are actually patriotic Americans who support General Petraeus, Jim Webb comes to mind. But, Moveon.org has taken over the Party, contributing more money than the NRA, and the Democrats are powerless to stop them. Now let us go forward one week. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is invited to speak at Columbia University. Lee Bollinger, b
President Ahmadinejad of Iran spoke the other night at Columbia University. After listening to various news accounts that seem to tell different stories about the same event I watched a taped account on C-SPAN that evening. What I saw was very different from either the left or right wing media had portrayed. Perhaps it was because I was able to see for myself that I could form my own opinion of the event. My opinion of the man did not really change. He did nothing, and said nothing that made me feel better about him. To deny that the Holocaust happened is tantamount to saying the world is flat. We know for certain the world is not flat, we do not need any more study on that aspect of it. What can be learned from this event? How was the opportunity handled by both sides that is instructive? Was there a moment during the dialogue that you should have noted?
