By: Ron King African American skin care is most often overlooked, yet is still very important. It can be a great challenge since it is influenced by some variables such as geography, eating habits and the level of skin darkness. Dark skin has more melanin than light skin. For this reason African Americans are better equipped to cope with the sun than Caucasians and other ethnic groups. With that said, black skin care must not be neglected. Let's take a little side trip and talk about melanin. It's a skin pigment that gives color to your skin. If you see a light-skinned person with freckles, what you are seeing is someone with little spots of melanin. A freckle is created by small concentration of melanin. When you get tanned by the sun, what is actually happening is that the sun triggers melanocytes which are cells in your skin to create more melanin. The melanin moves to the outer layer of skin and creates a darker skin color.Having more melanin in ones body is a benefit, but defini
Have you heard of Rissi Palmer? If not, stay tuned. This African-American, Caramel Bella is making history as the first black singer to have a song on the country music charts since Dona Mason’s “Green Eyes (Cryin’ Those Blue Tears)” in 1987. Not only is she making history, but she is making beautiful country music as a so-called “outsider”.
In addition to Palmer’s race, she is also from Pittsburgh and was raised in St. Louis. Her non-Southern roots raises several eyebrows and begs the question, “Is she really country?” Her latest song “Country Girl,” which entered the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at No. 58, seems to address this question. She sings, “You don’t have to be a Georgia peach from Savannah Beach. Don’t need no kin from West Virginia to have it in ya.” Her chorus is her answer.
Her self-titled album, which is released October 23rd, has been a long time coming. According to
By Max Suther Acne is an annoying condition that can cause pain and embarrassment. Unfortunately, the condition can affect people from all areas and ethnic backgrounds. Many products are available for anyone suffering from acne. However, African American acne skin care is also available to help this particular ethnic group overcome the skin disorder. If you are of African American descent and want to treat your acne, you should consult with a dermatologist. Many people believe that people with darker skin are not prone to sun damage or conditions suffered by other ethnic groups. The reality is that the extra melanin present in darker-skinned individuals makes their skin more sensitive and vulnerable to injury. This is why African Americans may be much more prone to scarring if they suffer from acne for long periods of time. Fortunately, dermatologists and the health care industry are starting to realize that darker-skinned individuals require different skin care. Traditional product
The NYPD is watching you! It seems the infamous NYPD was spying on a few African American recording artists in the month prior to the 2004 Republican National Convention. According to documents made public yesterday, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Jay-Z, LL Cool J and Alicia Keys were all monitored by police in the months before the 2004 RNC.

Vitamins are actually far more effective for treating acne than any topical treatment. The fact that the power of vitamins for treating acne is not more well known is very sad to me. Because I know that many people are needlessly suffering from embarrassing acne when they could be using vitamins for their acne and resolving their problems.
San Francisco’s African American population is on the decline and has been for the last 20 years, according to an article by Leslie Fulbright in the San Francisco Chronicle. Using taxpayer dollars, the mayor’s office is assembling a task force consider ways to not only keep the remaining African American population but attempt to encourage its increase.
I would assume this population decline is because people want to move away from San Francisco. If I lived there, I certainly would. They should be congratulated, not held back. So why spend taxpayer dollars in an effort to keep people from making personal choices that better their lives?
It does not matter what color your skin is- if you care about your children, family values, and good old-fashioned common sense why wouldn’t you move away from San Francisco? Remember, this is the city that banned JROTC from its schools because the school board is more pro-homosexual agenda then it is pro-student achievement. This is the
