Sprint to Spend $100 Mil. On Anti-iPhone Adverts
Sprint has spent $100 million on an advertising campaign which directly targets the iPhone's weaknesses. The two ads we've seen are aimed at the iPhone's slow EDGE speeds and lack of true GPS support. The ads will begin running on May 9th and cost Sprint almost 40x the amount of a single 30 second superbowl ad. Ads following after the jump! Now here's the thing about these two ads, slow data speeds and faux GPS are undoubtedly going to be addressed by the next rev of the iPhone. Honestly, we're not sure if we should laugh at Samsung, or feel sorry for them. Granted, Apple hasn't officially given any word on new iPhones, but with all the speculation lately, you'd think Sprint would wait and see what Apple has up their sleeves. There's no doubt that these ads will negatively influence some who

      Sunday Culture: Adverts
To contrast an article from our own Alex Thurston, here are two adverts near my spot in Brooklyn that cry out for comment. #1 Apparently the marketing department at the GMHC (the Gay Men's Health Crisis) misinterpreted the organization's role in the community, thinking their objective was condescension to both the gay and black community. #2 Remember when Champion was about boxing, football, volleyball, any any other sort of athletic endeavor? No longer. Now, apparently, it's about seduction and/or sitting at home and masturbating. to be continued…

      Classified Adverts
Whether you have something to sell, a service to offer, or you just want to give something away, classified ads are a great way to accomplish that. A classified ad is defined as being a type of advertising that is especially common in newspapers or other periodicals. However, the classified ad is now taking the internet by storm. It has become an effective way of advertising virtually anything and it doesn't have to cost a penny. There is no more having to "pay per line" or "pay per word" when listing classified ads, especially online ads where you can advertise free of charge. There is no need to pay when you are able to place free ads and get just as much, if not more, exposure as if you placed an ad in the car classifieds, pet classifieds, or property cla

Avoiding Agency commissions? Don’t believe the adverts!
I had a flyer through my door this morning, low-quality and poorly produced, and using such choice quotes as SAVE £1,000’s ON ESTATE AGENTS FEES OK, I can’t bring myself to type the rest of this in the CAPITALS that it used, nor am I willing to abuse the innocent apostrophe in the way it did, so I’ll stop complaining about the poor production, and look at what it says. Basically, the flyer was advertising a website - they would put an “extensive” description of your property on their website, including up to 12 photos, for £99. All well and good, but they then go on to talk about the Office of Fair Trading, and make the point that you can supposedly avoid paying an estate agency fee if you introduce a buyer directly, even if you have a contract with an estate agency. I am not a lawyer, but something felt odd about this claim, so I took the advice of some local estate agents on their understanding. The view they had (and of course, they are estate agent

News: Yahoo to put adverts in PDF files
Adobe is one of the world's leading PDF software producers Yahoo has reached a deal to start running advertisements in Adobe's popular PDF document-reading format. The service will allow publishers to make money by including adverts linked to the content of a PDF document in a panel at the side of the page. It is Yahoo's latest way of expanding the places it can advertise online following deals with the auction site Ebay and the cable TV group Comcast. The advertisements will not appear if the PDF document is printed. It is the first time that Adobe has allowed dynamic adverts into its PDF (Portable Document Format) files. Dynamic adverts can be changed for particular audiences or rotated to make sure that a particular user never sees the same advertisement twice. PDF files can be created by a range of software

Recruitment Jobs: Creating Effective Adverts For The Internet
There have never been so many options available for the recruitment consultant looking to advertise vacancies. Internet sites can be many times cheaper than paper adverts. In addition they can be far more effective, producing many more potential fee earning candidates. There are, however, some differences in how adverts should be written. A candidate viewing adverts on the internet can raise 100s of matching vacancies within seconds of applying a couple of filters on a site. This, versus the relatively slow plod rustling through the pages of a newspaper. To achieve a strong response on the internet a recruitment consultant needs to do more to differentiate his job.Unfortunately, the task of generate an advert is one of the less enjoyable parts opf the recruitment consultant’s role. As a consequence, adverts can have a tendency to all look the same. Consider the following example.Recruitment ConsultantOur client requires a graduate with two years recruitment experience. Google Adsense Referral Adverts Not Displaying
We’ve heard that many publishers are having trouble viewing referral 2.0 ads on their pages, and we’d like to explain some of the most common reasons why this might be. First, keep in mind that not all referral ads are available in all sizes. For instance, most horizontal referral ad units smaller than 180×60, square referral ad units smaller than 125×125, and text links are only available at this time for Google products such as AdSense or AdWords. This means that if you generate code for referral ads in an unsupported size, you won’t see any referrals shown on your webpages. To avoid this issue, we recommend first selecting categories or products for your referrals before selecting a size at this time. Similarly, you may not see the referral ads you’ve selected on your pages if you’ve grouped a number of referral ads into your Ad Shopping Cart which are each available in different sizes. If this is the case, you may wish to try regenerating

Which Adsense Adverts Format Works Best For You? Text or Graphic?
Google Adsense offers advertisers and publishers both text and graphical adverts. When people choose to place Adsense on their websites, which adverts format is the best for advertisers and which is the best for publishers? On one hand, image adverts seems to be more responsive yet less likely to stimulate a sale. On the other hand, text adverts may convert more, whilst being less visible to the consumers. Text based adverts are considered less intrusive than the other one. However, does it mean that graphical advertising is better? Consumers are used to graphical advertising from signing up free email accounts and other web based services. Very often, the adverts are not consumers-targeted. That’s why they also get used to ignoring graphical adverts with the assumption that all are the same. Text adverts are not forced upon surfers. Because they are less obvious, some people will not see them at all. However, those who do see them, and read them are significantly more likely t

Adverts make overweight kids eat more
Warning: Division by zero in /home/clickmed/public_html/interactivehealth/wp-content/plugins/tla_62744.php on line 595 This doesn’t really surprise me. Apparently researches from the University of Liverpool studied the link between food ads and food intake of overweight and obese children. It found that after watching an ad, kids in both categories increased their food intake by 134 percent. The study involved 60 children between the ages of 9 and 11 of varying weights. They were shown ads for food and toys and all the kids in those weight categories ate more after seeing food ads. Overweight kids ate 101 percent more and those in the normal weight range at 84 percent more. I’m not sure what can be done about that. You can’t take tv away from kids, there would probably be mass riots! Maybe try and buy less treats to limit their intake. Growing up, we didn’t have candy, lollies or any treats in the house. If we got hungry, our options were either fruit,

I guess I need to actually do a bit of work now.
