By Darnell Washington, Newsophile Staff WriterNEW YORK -- During a recent concert at Madison Square Garden to promote her new album "Hard Candy," pop diva Madonna argued that she was a better humanitarian than Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt since her adopted Malawian son David is 'way blacker' than Zahara, the Ethiopian-born adopted daughter of the famous couple. When a fan in the front row shouted o

Kristen over at Dine and Dish came up with a great idea a while ago of pairing up bloggers to help new bloggers. I figured I’ve done this for a while now and could help out, so I tentatively said I’d help out as an ‘experienced’ blogger. Well, I recently got my adopted blogger!
It’s Kathy from Panini Happy. And while she’s only been blogging for 9 months,
Oh well. We surely saw it coming already, didn't we? From the Times (via FOX News and Ace of Spades HQ):
Islamic law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases.
The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.

As animal lovers, it was very distressing when our beloved 15 year old mini Schnauzer, Daisy, passed away in June. We allowed some time before we began our search for a new dog to join our family. After such a long time of not having to search for a pet, we found that there are multiple sites on line for pet searching. In today’s environment with many pets needing homes, we
In the childhood fairytale it was the owl and the pussycat who were the very best of friends.
But in real life it is this greyhound and owl who have formed a rather bizarre friendship at an animal centre.

Change of habits: Due to my severe hyperacusis I had to change many of my habits in daily life: - I began doing all my activities slowly and in a quieter way, in order to avoid unnecessary noises. - In the morning, when I woke up I paid special attention to noise, because my ears were more sensitive. - To take a bath I stopped using the shower. Instead I began using a bucket and a

Last week Mom told me that Aunt Melissa (my Mom’s far cousin, not her real name) was actually adopted. The astonishing thing is that Aunt Melissa knows nothing about her adoption even till this day, as she was taken in to the family since she was a toddler. Indeed, Aunt Mel had suspected several times of her being adopted due to the differences in skin colour and blood type from her parents. B

About three weeks ago, I was sitting in the backyard of my office and saw this beautiful black long haired cat just sitting there. I looked at her and said "Hi there Pretty Kitty." She immediately galloped over, jumped on my lap and started talking.I saw that she had fleas and was really underweight, so everyone in the office started feeding her and bringing things for her. So now, pretty kitty is getting much needed love and attention. She's gained weight, we handled the fleas and she is the most loving animal I've ever had. Now, we tried different names for her, but she only answers to Pretty Kitty. We listed them out...Blackie, Ebony, Mustafa (Chris' choice), Pretty Kitty and every time we say Pretty Kitty she looks up, talks, and jumps on your lap...Anyway, I'm posting her as the Chief
It happens all too often. A family or cat friend gets adopted by a stray cat. And after a few weeks it turns out she’s pregnant. In the US alone there must be millions of sweet but homeless cats. And many of them get pregnant several times a year. Nobody really knows why, but pregnant strays often adopt a family instead of the other way round. Maybe they search for support or a good and warm home for their kittens. Now, perhaps you don’t have the space or time for a cat family. Or there’s another reason that makes it difficult to have these kittens. But you don’t want to throw this stray out. She’s expecting babies, isn’t she?!Now what can you do?You could take her to an animal shelter. That’s not always a good idea. Don’t get me wrong: I value the work of animal shelters. I

Christmas is over, today is a regular day and the workers are back to their daily routines to their respective offices. This morning when I was washing my clothes I heard the kitten shouting "meow meow meow". She's very noisy I'm so irritated with her voice out of four kittens she's the only one that is alive. Her mom left her and I felt pity to the kitten. What I did I get the kitten and put her together with the puppies of our dog named Jasmine who have new born puppies. And when Jasmine arrived back to her puppies I was shocked then because I know Jasmine noticed it that there is a kitten. I just observed Jasmine, later on she lie down on the floor and ready for breast feeding; the puppies then and the adopted kitten start crawling and rambled. I'm so amazed of our dog Jasmine and the adopted kitten. She accepted the poor kitten to be one of her children, hehehe. The meow meow become an aw aw! Hehehehe… I would like to share with you the pictures I took with our dog J

I just had to post this picture, because these kitties are so cute and sweet! My mom's friend just adopted them. Their names are Noah and Sunny. I wish I could meet them, but mom makes me stay at home. I would rather stay home, since I get very scared when I have to go in my cat carrier, since that always means I have to go to see Dr. Staph, and I don't like that one bit! I would like some new friends to play with one day though............

Ted and Alice were thrilled when their long wait to adopt a baby finally came to an end. The adoption center called and told them they had an adorable German baby boy and the couple took him without hesitation. On the way home from the adoption center, they stopped at the local college so they could enroll in night classes. After they completed filling out the form, the registrar inquired, "What possessed you to study German?""We've just adopted a wonderful German baby boy and in a year or so, he'll begin to talk. We want to make sure we're able to understand him!" the couple proudly explained.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continue their quest for world domination by building their army one adopted child at a time. Amid rumors that their relationship is on the rocks Brangelina is planning to travel to Ethiopa in three months to adopt baby number five (the fourth adopted child). Sources say they are hoping this adoption will shore up their relationship as well as helping Zahara (being from Ethiopia herself and the only adopted girl) feel more connected to the rest of the family.Angie feels that while Shiloh will grow up seeing the family resemblance between herself and her parents, and Maddox and Pax will feel a connection through their birthplaces, Zahara has no such close-knit bond. And their hope is that by finding an Ethiopian sister for Zahara, she will feel more comfy and happy in her own skin.Angie’s tattoo guy better get his needles warmed up, looks like he’ll be adding to her lattitude/longitude family tattoo real soon.
PBN is having a blog blast where they asked bloggers to talk about the stupidest questions they were asked while they were pregnant and the answers they wished they had given. As soon as I saw this advertised I knew exactly what I wanted to blog about. Now I've talked about this before but humor me and let me talk about it again. When I got pregnant with Elle I was shocked by the number of people who asked us if we regreted adopting Joseph or if it changed our feelings about adopting a child. What was the most suprising about this was that these were people who knew us well enough to know that he was adopted in the first place. We don't keep it a secret or anything but it's not like we make him carry around a sign proclaiming himself an adoptee. Most people that we just meet once or twice will never know he's adopted. So we were asked these questions by people that knew us, by people that knew Joseph. It usually went something like this:Stupid Person A: Now that you know you
Life insurance giant AIG, American General led the way for years in offering the best deals for private pilots looking for life insurance. They took over the market and dominated for several years……and then they bailed. From my perspective it looked like they had a few claims, some of them worth several million, that they feared was going to somehow collapse their $700 billion dollar empire. They pushed the idea that they were there for pilots and then ran from it at the first sign of checks going the wrong direction for them.
There are other companies that were there before AIG and are still there. Pilots can still find dependable, affordable life insurance through North American, Genworth Life and Annuity and ING Reliastar. It’s not really like these companies stepped in and adopted private pilots. It’s more like when AIG was flaunting low rates, pilots and some agents may have forgotten those companies that had been there for them all along.

The leader in online news, AOL News, now presents to you a makeover site which is blog-like. The new AOL or AOL News Beta reports news in blog template – short news stories that are accompanied by video clips, photographs or interactive polls intended to engage readers. Users can read, watch, vote, rate, comment and even discuss the news. AOL revealed that the makeover of its traditional news sites is part of the effort to change this site from a subscription-based service to a free, advertising-based Web business. At the same time, AOL Sports also started a similar format for its sports news. The change of AOL is encouraging and it is a good move as the blog style is reflective of a general shift in how consumers prefer to get information on the Web. In time to come, more internet websites will most likely adopt this blog-format for better hits.

Brad’s adopted Vietnamese son, Pax Thien, has recently been named an official Jolie-Pitt!
In this article posted in the People website, Pax Thien is now reportedly an official Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt after a Santa Monica court granted Brad’s partner Angelina Jolie’s request to have the 3-year old Vietnamese boy’s surname changed.
Pax now shares his other siblings’ surname. Brad and Angelina earlier adopted Maddox and Zahara. They also have a biological child, one year old Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.
We’re sure Brad’s very proud of this new development!

I’m not sure if anyone else saw this yesterday, but I thought it was worth checking out. It’s always fun to look back in time and see how our culture has influenced the mainstream, and in turn, to see how the mainstream had embraced our culture.

In our post–Queer Eye for the Straight Guy world, many people — particularly younger people — take for granted that the divide between gay culture and mainstream culture is as thin as the latex of an expensive condom. This has not always been the case. Since the Stonewall Riots of 1969, the underground gay counterculture has consistently, and vitally, influenced mainstream popular culture in style, music, fashion, language, sexual mores, and politics. Here are 10 moments — all of them decisive — that chart the gradual, but irrefutable, queering of American culture.

The father of Madonna’s adopted son David Banda is disappointed he hears so little of the baby she brought from Malawi to the UK six months ago. Yohane Banda, who claims he still has no regrets about giving up his child, has begged the pop star to give him regular updates of his son’s progress abroad. Speaking ahead of Madonna’s planned charity visit to the African country this week, Banda claims he isn’t even sure she’ll visit.
He says, “Officially I haven’t heard anything. There has been no communication whatsoever but I have heard the rumors and I get the feeling that she might be coming. I am excited. I hope that there will be an opportunity for me to see my son. I understand that she is a busy person, but if there is an opportunity, I would appreciate it if she could tell me how my son is doing, which has not been the case so far.”

Angelina Jolie’s adoption application is being processed quickly and she could pick up her new 3 1/2-year-old son within a few weeks, Vietnam’s top adoption official said Tuesday. The adoption is being processed quickly because the boy is an older child, and his files were nearly complete before Angelina decided to adopt. The boy was abandoned at a Ho Chi Minh City hospital as a baby and is currently at the Tam Binh orphanage on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City. One orphanage official said of the boy, who likes to play soccer with the other children: “He is in good health. He is a little bit shy.” The Pitt soccer team is on its way!Angelina has two adopted children — Maddox, 5, Zahara, 2 — and one daughter with Brad Pitt — Shiloh, almost 10 months.

It’s been a long time since the pitter-patter of padded feet have been heard in this house. It’s also been 30 years since I trained a puppy, and I’ve spent the last few days reading books about how to train dogs. This one is almost 6 months old and has been at the dog pound (or is that dog impound?) since she was weaned. So, without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to Daisy, our new Rottweiler.
She’s not all that small anymore, and getting her onto my lap for this picture was an interesting adventure for both of us. She’s also a big sweetheart, and is catching on to this housetraining stuff fairly quickly- for a 6 month old dog that’s been pottying in her enclosure.
She smelled pretty bad when we picked her up yesterday (we had to wait a week to get approved) but she survived her bath this morning and smells MUCH better. She’ll never know how close she came to being named Stink Muffin instead of Daisy.
She’s enjoying her chew

Lots of parents who adopt from Korea may mistakenly believe that they and their children are somehow completely immune from attachment issues. Thinking that because the majority of our children live with foster families in a more personal and intimate setting that the children are magically protected.Truth is most children will grieve their initial loss of the people and environment they leave, even infants, but generally most children will securely attach over time with their adoptive families. Our youngest daughter arrived at 4 months of age. She was mad and outraged at her upheaval. It took several months to coax her out of her anger. I often thought that G-d was good, since I was already an experienced mother who knew not to take my little peanut's wrath personally. She was just royally pissed off. In time, she began to trust her permanence, my permanence in her life. Today she is a happy, confident and well-attached little girl. But some children do get stuck in their grief and co
I think I feel so much more for Madd and Zee because they're survivors, they came through so much. Shiloh seemed so privileged from the moment she was born. I have less inclination to feel for her...I met my other kids when they were 6 months old, they came with a personality. A newborn really is this...Yes, a blob! But now she's starting to have a personality...I'm conscious that I have to make sure I don't ignore her needs, just because I think the others are more vulnerable"
