First off I want to thank EVERYONE who prayed for me, please still do (re:my last post). Also, Dad was worried you might think I was indirectly talking about my husband, NO I am not. It is not a family member situation. Secondly I do feel the prayer, I really, really do. Today I woke up for the first time without a dark cloud over my head, and I know it is because of prayer. Keep it up, there is a long road ahead for a bunch of people that live around me. Friends who speak truth in my life, even when I am not in the best state of mind are INVALUABLE. Without comment, the Cincinnati Public School Board on Monday voted to not renew the contracts of 87 administrators.The board, which had discussed the non-renewals in executive session before the meeting, unanimously agreed to Superintendent Rosa Blackwell's recommendation.Blackwell recommended the non-renewals to give the district flexibility while building its 2007-08 budget. The district has to cut $39 million from its $430 million budget.The action affects those central office and school administrators whose contracts expire July 31. That includes interim and assistant principals. Only one principal, the head of Central Fairmount, is on the list. That school is slated to close at the end of the school year.The school board had to act this week because the district has to notify administrators by March 31 of its intent not to renew contracts.This from the Cincinnati Enquirer. I'd go one step further and classify the junior level paralegals as professionals, too. After all, more paralegals are entering the field with paralegal degrees. With the inevitable regulation of paralegals, an administrative staff salary will not make the profession financially rewarding for intelligent, hardworking paralegals. And remember, you get what you pay for!

A recent consulting activity raised the question of the appropriate use of administrative leave. Sometimes it may be necessary to place one of your employees on leave. The most common reason for doing this is to safeguard the employer during an investigation into allegations of misconduct. Administrative leave includes both the temporary removal of the employee from all job duties or the temporary re-assignment of an employee to a different job pending an investigation. Administrative leave is not a disciplinary action, and it should not harm the employee’s record or performance appraisal. If the investigation confirms wrongdoing on behalf of the employee, disciplinary action should be imposed following the investigation.
