Emmanuel Adebayor’s AC Milan move could be back on after Arsenal reduced their asking price for the striker, according to the agent working for the Serie A club. Vicenzo Morabito claims the Gunners have almost halved the price for the 24-year-old, which was initially set at £35 million.
“We’re working to make the deal easier,” Morabito [...]
Emmanuel Adebayor is garnering the attention of the Italian and Spanish media this morning. Vincenzo Morabito told the world that he could now be bought for little more than half of his original asking price of €45m and very authoritative he was too. It was a similar authority he had shown when talking of the [...]
Reports in the Italian press today are claiming Arsenal and AC Milan have agreed a £24m (30m Euros) deal for Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor. The deal is also said to include 22 year old French playmaker Yoann Gourcuff, who has failed to make an impact in Milan, having previously been touted as one of the best young talents in Europe. The reports go on to state the under-21 France internatio
Emmanuel Adebayor's proposed move to La Liga giants Barcelona has taken yet another twist as this long, drawn out transfer saga shows no sign of settling. Reports in Spain today are suggesting the deal to take Adebayor to the Nou Camp is dependant on Samuel Eto'o moving on, who is having a hard time moving on due to his own excessive wage demands. He currently earns a mammoth £140,000 a week, the
Arsenal have rejected a £24m bid from Barcelona for Emmanuel Adebayor, according to the Times. The president of Barcelona Joan Laporta wanted to wrap the deal up on sunday but Arsenal are holding out for atleast £30m before considering letting the striker leave. Adebayor has reportedly told Arsenal he wants to stay but only if they reward him with a glittering new deal for his performance last s
Italian giants AC Milan look set to give up on their quest to strike a deal with Arsenal for the services of Emmanuel Adebayor. Vice President Adriano Galliani said:“Adebayor is overridden by continuous requests for €45 million (£35.6 million), these figures are impossible for clubs in Italy.”“In fact, the top footballers in the world do not come here any more, but when big clubs like Bar
Arsenal are currently in the hunt for a new striker with Emmanuel Adebayor set to leave the club and today a new name was included in the ever growing list of potential replacements. The Daily Mirror are now reporting that Arsenal are interested in Peter Crouch to replace Adebayor. If this is to be believed [...]
Emmanuel Adebayor found some big shooting boots lasting season; in the close season, his Agents found the revolver and handed it to him to put the bullets into his feet. The messages being received are mixed but underlying them all is a clear theme, money.
On Friday, he claimed to be meeting next week to decide [...]
Call it cocky or whatever, Adebayor has came lashing out, again, about his "spectacular" transfer saga.News of the World has reported that Adebayor wants to be paid like Thierry Henry, by demanding a whopping 400 per cent pay-rise, which would see his weekly wage increase from ₤30,000 to ₤120,000, which means Adebayor wants to get the same "value" and salary as Thierry Henry when he was still
Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has once again changed the club’s transfer strategy, as he now claims that the Rossoneri are preparing to build a team with Ronaldinho, and without Emmanuel Adebayor.Milan are well known to be in the market for a top class striker but Galliani has stated on a number of occasions over the past week or so that the club would be signing either Arsenal’s Emman
More on the Wenger's press conference today in Vienna. When asked whether he is worried about Adebayor's recent comments, he replied with a smirk:"I am not worried. I can not worry about everything"When pressed on whether Adebayor will be at Arsenal he stated after a long pause:"Ofcourse, he has a three year contract"Clearly there is more to this than what meets the eye and judging by the boss's b
Speaking during a press conference in Vienna ahead of the Euro 2008 final tomorrow, Arsene Wenger was predictably asked questions over the future of Emmanuel Adebayor. Wenger said he was "not worried" and that he does not plan to meet his star striker next week. More to follow...
Emmanuel Adebayor stepped into familiar territory yesterday, a path well-trodden by Thierry Henry and Jose Antonio Reyes before him. Publicly declaring that you intend to see out the remainder of your contract, commenting that it is a ‘good’ deal to boot, seems likely to stifle debate about your future. Under pressure of questioning little more [...]
A.C Milan veteran Clarence Seedorf claims Emmanuel Adebayor has told him he intends to join him at the San Siro:"When I spoke with him I said, 'I'm waiting for you'. Let's see what will happen."He already said he would come, but it depends now on Arsenal."But if he leaves Arsenal, it is a done deal. He comes to Milan."
It appeared today Adebayor had assured everyone his future would lie with the Emirates next season by stating:"I have three more years with Arsenal, I have a good team there, I have a good contract. "The most important thing is to keep enjoying myself. Of course (I am staying) I have three more years. AN HOUR LATER in an interview with Sky Sports he confessed to still being unsure of where he will
Emmanuel Adebayor's proposed move to AC Milan is edging closer but Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has once again re-iterated the fact that Arsenal have not given the green light to seal the deal. Speaking to Studio Sport he roared frustratingly:“Adebayor all depends on Arsenal,” “If they don’t give him up or if they want too much then it really is finished.“Morabito is right, i
Reports from Goal.com has said that Adebayor's deal that will bring him to Italian giants AC Milan is 80% done.
According to Adebayor's agent, the deal is almost complete and it will probably be delayed until Arsene Wenger finds a replacement for Adebayor. Here's what Ade's agent said,
“What are the chances of Adebayor coming to Milan? I’d say today we are between 70 and 80 per cent.”
And
Reports in Italy today are claiming A.C Milan may be closer to Adebayor than it seems. Channel 4, who have always held strong Italian connections are suggesting Milan are now £3 Million away from signing the Arsenal striker. The reports also suggest Wenger is now resigned to losing Adebayor, and that Arsenal and Milan are now close to agreeing a fee for the 24-year-old's services. Milan have offe

Haven't updated this site for days. Expect much longer delays in update as my holidays are coming to a close soon and I won't have as much time to write. Anyway...
Opened my Firefox browser, and on my homepage is goal.com. The first thing I see is "Adebayor to Barcelona and Milan?"
To be honest I'm really sick and tired of all these transfer speculation. Arsene Wenger has recently sent a frank "

A dispetto delle voci di mercato che lo danno vicino al Milan, Emmanuel Adebayor ha deciso di voler rimanere all'Arsenal. E' lo stesso attaccante togolese ad affermarlo al Daily Star.
"Ho segnato 30 gol quest'anno, l'anno prossimo posso farne 40. Voglio rimanere per poter vincere qualche trofeo importante nella prossima stagione. Nella nostra testa vogliamo solo vincere".

Arsene went onto the offensive last night promising to ’give Milan the answer they deserve’ should they ring to enquire about the availability of Emmanuel Adebayor. Sadly, I doubt that he would give them that particular response but would instead tell them a rather firm ‘Non’ instead. Adebayor is supposed to have responded equally firmly however the quotes attribute
According to sources in Italy, Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor has agreed to join AC Milan, and all that is required to complete the deal is for the Rossoneri to meet the Gunners’ €40m asking price.
Did I mention yesterday that this summer would see Cesc targeted by Real? They did not even wait for summer to begin with Ramon Calderon starting the Chinese water treatment by telling anyone who would listen, and that was all of theworld’s media outlets, that he greatly admired young Fabregas and as he wanted to [...]
Emmanuel Adebayor is a Togolese striker who joined Arsenal in January of 2006. He has been likened to the ex-Gunner Kanu because of his style of play and gangly movements on the pitch. Adebayor has chosen the number 25 shirt because he idolises Kanu, who wore the shirt before him. Adebayor started his career with [...]

Emmanuel Adebayor. If ever there was a player who epitomised the adage that you cannot please all of the people, all of the time, it is he. Top scorer for the club in the Premier League with nineteen in twenty seven appearances (including substitutes), he is labelled for wont of a better phrase, “A Billy [...]
I would like to present you some interesting facts to you, my readers. Fact #1. I have 4 players in the first team squad of Arsenal who has Description - Wonderkid. They are Francesc Fabregas, Denilson, Ismael Aissati and Nicklas Berdtner.Fact #2. There was bad relationship between Sagna and Fabregas. I've even thought about selling Sagna somewhere during winter transfer window. Nevertheless Sagna managed to resolve his all problems with Cesc. I encounter this at first, I should say.Fact #3. Emannuel Adebayor is our best scorer at the moment. He made 13 successful shots in 12 matches. It's really unexpected news for me because I thought him at the season start to be on substitution for Van Persie and Eduardo. The True Football Manager
Today is my birthday. My workmates got me some cake and I’m heading out a bit later for some pizza and drinks with some friends, so I’m pretty happy.
It’s been a good day, no question. It’s been made even better by the fact that my internet connection has decided to work today and I can do some blogging. I’m sure you’d agree that sometimes it’s the little things that give you the most pleasure.
I’ll kick things off with a little bit about my favourite player, Emmanuel Adebayor, speaking about how relieved he was to break his goalscoring drought against Reading on Monday.
“I had not scored for a while and, yes, that was on my mind. As a striker it is important to score. That is what you are judged on.”
Adebayor hadn’t scored since his hat-trick Derby and his comments are completely understandable. You just have to read some of the comments that were left on various Arsenal blogs questioning his ability after his recent go

At the weekend, Dave Kitson mentioned in The Sunday Times that he wanted to read Arsene Wenger’s book on his footballing philosophy. He saw it first hand on Monday night and was suitably impressed,
They are the best team on the planet right now. Its phenomenal stuff and unbelievably difficult to play against. You just have to take your hat off to them
That will be a resounding affirmation in the squad’s abilities then. Reading have played all of the ‘big four’ in one or other of the domestic competitions and whilst Kitson has yet to prove himself to be a tactical master, his professional opinion should not be discounted.
Arsenal are not reliant on one, two, three or even four people. They all chip in and I thought they had another couple of gears to go
Whilst the debate yesterday raged around whether or n
Coming back on the bus today I was reading one match report. I had read quite a few, most of the view, the correct one, that Arsenal were worthy of a point and ferguson was whinging unnescessarily. This match report picked up on an interesting fact and this was that Adebayor has failed to hit the net in the last 7 games in which he has played. With Van Persie out this is slightly worrying. It seems that Eduardo is not yet ready start in Wenger's eyes and with Theo Walcott requiring a little more "natural commitment" as Le Prof called it, Wenger has gone with 5 in midfield in the last two matches with Hleb just behind Adebayor. Hleb is not a natural goalscorer and neither are Rosicky, Eboue or Flamini. Therefore Cesc Fabregas is the only man scoring regularly right now and this will not continue all the time. If Adebayor is going to lead the line he MUST start scoring again. We know
Tomorrow’s game is favoured topic of conversation amongst the players as one might expect. This morning’s Sun has Cesc proclaiming,
We’re like Brazil when they’re at the top of their game. The best thing about us is how quick and precise we are. But we must keep our feet on the ground and work harder than everyone else. Staying right at the top is the hardest thing
Whilst there is little to disagree with, the Brazil comparison is nuts. If he had used the 1970’s Brazil as a comparison, I might have agreed but for the current incarnation, I think he is wrong. Arsenal would beat them.
Cesc went on,
We have two tough league matches coming up and they provide an opportunity to show our strength. We will have to give everything to get a good result at Anfield but I trust in our team.
And therein is the crucial difference between this campaign and the two preceding. Whilst the team played well sporadically before - three good games, one indifferent, one bad - the
Good morning fellow Gooners,
I am not not going to talk about the great english misfortunes of this weekend despite the temptation, I ask who among you can remember some of these great Arsenal striking partnerships? Frank Stapleton and Alan Sunderland, Alan Smith and Brian Marwood,Alan Smith and Anders Limpar, Ian Wright and Kevin Campbell, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry, Niklas Bendtner and Arturo Lupoli? Ok the last one notched up over 25 goals in the Arsenal reserves, but you get my point, good striking partnerships yield goals, and lots of them. Within every partnership, there is a provider and a predator. Today my friends, I need some inspiration!
Let me start by saying to you all, that there comes a time when Arsenal fans have to be honest with themselves. What I am about to say, many of you will dislike, but there again, I am not here to say what you always want to hear. Sometimes the obvious has to be said. I have spent the last t
The 2008 African Cup of Nations will last from January 20 until February 10, calling up African players from all over the Premiership. Arsenal looked set to lose Emmanuel Eboue, Kolo Toure, and Emmanuel Adebayor for that period of time, and there were some concerns that we would be light both up front and in central defense. However, the effects of the ACN have been dampened by the fact that Togo has failed to qualify. This means that prolific Arsenal striker Adebayor will be staying with his club. It comes as a blow to Togo (and to Adebayor who I'm sure was looking forward to representing his country in the ACN) but Togo's pain is Arsenal's pleasure, and Adebayor staying is a major lift.We will still struggle in the center of defense without Kolo Toure, though. The Ivorian defender has been incredibly solid at center back, whether partnered with Philippe Senderos or William Gallas. Even with the return of Johann Djourou, Arsenal will be in some serious trouble if Gallas gets injured
It’s deep into the international break but still there is still quite a decent amount of Arsenal news to discuss.
First up is Jens Lehmann who, despite losing his place in goals to Spaniard Manuel Almunia, is confident that he will play for Arsenal again this season. The German mentioned that he feels he may be in the team sooner rather than later, despite Almunia’s good performances, suggesting that he may start in the club’s next match in the Premiership against Bolton.
“I know I will play for Arsenal again and think it may well be in our next game. I feel ready to come back and play to the same level again. Playing is important, of course, but there is no substitute for quality.”
Sometimes you just get the feeling that Lehmann is on another planet. Seriously, where does he come up with this stuff? Almunia has done a great job since replacing the German and there is absolutely no reason why he should be dropped because Lehmann feels he is ready to come b
An ’insider’ - probably meaning the fifth bottle of Pinot Grigio in his stomach - has told a Sun hack,
So much has been written about the supposed strained relationship David has with the board and most of it is well wide of the mark. Of course he feels he was unfairly squeezed out of Arsenal. But in his chat with Usmanov he said he would never do anything that would harm Arsenal
There are those who would contend that by his reported actions that he has done just that, the introduction of Usmanov has been unsettling to events off of the pitch. That he has felt the need to allow someone to leak such comments to the press could be construed as showing the damage that may have been done to his relationship with the Uzbek and in turn his ‘dream’ of returning to Arsenal. The same paper ‘reveals’ that Jens Lehmann’s comments about Manuel Almunia are fuelled by the lack of respect that he feels the Spaniard has shown him with his apparent clai
It seems that one thumping of a mediocre Premier League team has given Manchester United the bragging rights for the title race, such as it is at this stage of the season, with both Evra and Tevez claiming that they are a better side than Arsenal. We shall see whether such confidence is well founded or misplaced in about seven months time. The Arsenal players meanwhile are playing down such talk with Kolo Toure stating,
For the minute we don’t talk about it. We just focus on what we are doing well, enjoy it and make our fans happy. At thed end we will see how far we go. The season is really long
In an age when the lurid activities or bragging is the standard by which newspapers judge the quality of a player, the humility displayed by Toure during interviews is a refreshing change. For a big club, Arsenal have very few adverse headlines which is a testament to the ethos of those involved and the awareness of the players of their responsibilities.
The subject of what has changed in
A quiet day following on the from the vanquishing of Fat Sam, everyone is jolly happy with themselves and quite rightly so. Even so there is a little fly squashed on the windscreen in that William Gallas apparently does not know when he will be back, according to The Daily Mail although Arsene seemed to think it would be this weekend, the last I had heard anyway. Gallas said of the game,
I will remind everyone how tough it is there. They beat us 1 - 0 at Upton Park last season
Can I take this opportunity to remind the Captain of the last time he recovered from a long spell on the sidelines as well? Anfield in March. All of the games from hereon in will be difficult; the excellent start to the season has seen to that. Having negotiated two tricky away games successfully - four from six is a good return - there is probably a feeling that this season’s Arsenal are not the pushovers that we were deemed to be last time around, however mistaken that belief. At West Ham last season, we
After his match-winning performance against Tottenham over the weekend, Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is refusing to get too carried away with his side’s excellent start to the season.
Adebayor scored two goals in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over rivals Tottenham, the first a fine header and the second an amazing volley that will surely go close to Goal of the Season. The win pushed Arsenal to the top of the Premiership ladder for the first time in almost three years, but Adebayor was quick to play down his side’s title chances and stressed that the team is focused only Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Sevilla.
“I scored an amazing goal and I’m very happy for that but the most important thing is getting the points from Spurs. Every game we play they call it a test. We feel that as well, but the most important thing is taking it one game at a time. We don’t want to speak about the title, we just want to keep on going.”
It’s
The last pre-season friendly this evening should hopefully prove a tough test for what I would expect to virtually be the starting line-up for the Fulham game. Having struggled in recent seasons to break down Dutch sides, it will be an interesting exercise in how the tactics have progressed. Actually, it may not be the Fulham line-up because it would appear that this is set for a 4-5-1 with Hleb or RvP supporting Eduardo in attack. The flexibility of Arsenal’s play though often renders the straitjacket of formal tactics irrelevant with the interchanging of positions.
As far as the team goes, I would expect to see:
Lehmann; Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy; Eboue, Fabregas, Diaby, Hleb (or Rosicky); RvP; Eduardo
Denilson may pop onto the left and Walcott the right at some point but AW needs to get the spine of the team on the pitch for a workout. Two objectives tonight though; firstly, get understandings, particularly in the centre of defence working. Secondly, no injuries. Y
In the absence of Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie someone needed to step up and take responsibility. Ade came into the season with question marks still hanging over his head. Many fans were still unsure of whether he was good enough to provide goals at crucial times.
He spent much of the summer in the headlines over his pay dispute with Togo and you wondered whether he would be a disruptive influence the club could do without. But to be fair to him bar the Chelsea incident he hasn’t done anything but give his all for the club. It his attitude, work rate and permanent smile that have firmly made him a fans favourite The season didn’t start to well for him as he struggled to hold down a place in the team. As ever Thiery was the number one and the exceptional form of Robin Van Persie meant Manu started much of the season on the sidelines. Come September and the absence of Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie meant Ade finally had his first real opportunity to shine ag
Quiet day news-wise with the usual suspects doing the rounds. However, a slight change came with Marca, which as you know is Castellano for Bullshitting Bastards, reporting with a headline that ‘Ribery only wants to go to Madrid‘. Not that he actually said that, more that his Mr 15% did. Well, sort of. I’ll translate (as best I can - I know, I know, a Spanish wife, I ought to be completely fluent but I play dumb otherwise I’d have to speak to the miserable scrotes that pass for her cousins. Instead I just listen. Oh yeah. Amazing what people talk about when they think you don’t understand…)
Ribery does not want to play for Bayern. He likes Spain but he has not received an offer from any Spanish team. It is true that Madrid have watched him play but we have not received an offer yet
So nothing new there. Substitute the Spanish media with the English and I bet Franck just loves London…

Inzaghi scores twice to defeat Liverpool
Italian striker Filippo Inzaghi scored two goals in the Champions League final to ensure that AC Milan, not Liverpool, was crowned European Champions. Whilst I thought Liverpool performed quite well - especially in the first half - it was Milan’s defensive resilience that saw them through a tough encounter with the side that had overcome them in the final two years earlier. Many Liverpool supporters will no doubt feel hard done by with the manner in which their team conceded the first goal but Milan deserved the win based on their tactically astute - if not technically brilliant - performance.
To put the first goal that Inzaghi scored down as a fluke would be harsh on a player who thrives on situations like the one presented by Pirlo’s free-kick. The Milan striker’s run across the goalkeeper saw the ball deflect in off his chest but to be fair to Inzaghi - he was in the right place at the right time, just as he was late in
In recent weeks i have been wondering what it is about people that automatically want to think the worst of Emmanuel Adebayor. The most obvious example of this ofcourse is the assumption by the assistant referee that he struck Frank Lampard, and his ludicrously disproportionate punishment by the FA. I am not going to say that this is due to some inherent racism as he is not the only black player in the league, rather i suspect that it may have something to do with the fact that he is African. Culturally, many within the establishment may find his manner alien. The way he speaks, acts and reacts is different to most English footballers and because there are still not a large amount of cultural Africans in English football many fail to identify with them the way they might someone who is more ‘like them’. This may have been done consciously or unconsciously but it is clear that there is something about his demeanor that maybe makes the establis
William Gallas is still rumbling through the blogosphere like a runaway train, so on the subject of perceived troublemakers, Emmanuel Adebayor has, depending on which news outlet you read, been kicked out or left the Togo squad, still rowing with them over bonus payments for last years World Cup. This is the squad that were not going to participate until FIFA intervened and supposedly resolved the issue, the same FIFA whose President believes that the rich clubs and players are the cause of all football’s ills. Not so, Herr Blatter , this is a prime example of an FA being the problem. Perhaps Blatter will impart his words of wisdom on this one? Anyway, back to Adebayor. As well as a dispute with his FA, he now has another anonymous admirer who apparently threatened the lives of himself and his family. Adebayor, currently renegotiating his contract at Arsenal, has now said that he is considering retiring from International Football. Personally, I would not be upset about this beca

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor, he of the Samson-esque form and the ability to leap like a salmon for the ball, has turned his nose up at a move to the Camp Nou. 24-year-old Adebayor said:
“As a footballer you want to make history and leave your name at a club.
“I hope I can do that here [...]
