Clerics attack book addressing sex in Islam
Along with Passant Rashad, Nawal el-Sa'dawi (at right) has seen her work censored by Egyptian authorities. Menassat provides a good example of yet another instance in which Islamic conservatives wield a hammer to silence Muslims writers who address sensitive issues. In this case it's a book authored by Passant Rashad on sex in Islam and the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) sex life. There are many, many examples in the Qur'an of teaching Muslims about sex and the issue of sexual ethics. It's beyond me why these fundamentalists are so afraid of reading Islamic sexual ethics in a book for Muslim readers. "I wanted to explain sex from the real Islamic perspective and to make it the reference for having a healthy sexual life," Rashad said in an interview with Al-Arabiya TV in February.

But while Neri has been hogging the news over his role in the ZTE debacle, this matter of his CHED chairmanship has been put out of the limelight. After promising to make education Arroyo’s legacy, it has now again taken a back seat in the national agenda. To recall, right after assuming his post, Neri’s initial statements centered on the need to “troubleshoot” the education-labor mismatch, which is defined Former Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Andrew Gonzalez as the disparity between the manpower needs of the country and the output of higher education. Addressing Honolulu's Growing Traffic Problem
Oahu real estate is growing only in price, not in geography. 200,000 to 300,000 people commute from here to there each day in cars and trucks and clog the highways and city streets. Add a little rain, mix in pedestrians and a minor fender bender, and the whole grid comes to a grinding halt. Including the busses. The grinding halt occurs more frequently these days. 60,000 new cars a year make parking the most unpopular participant sport in Honolulu. A rail system is the only way to solve the problem says city councilman Gary Okino, “Honolulu needs to move, I would say, 200 to 300-thousand people a day and only one kind of system would do it and that’s a high-speed, high-capacity rail system and that is why I am so in favor of it.”

We have identified them as, first, cost, second, commitment, and, third, people. (We tried, but we couldn't come up with three c's.)Second, we want to address commitment. We all know that women like to stereotype men as having a fear of commitment – but when it comes to buying a home, we’re all susceptible. Buying a home usually means committing money and time (at least a year – usually more like 5-10 years) to being in one spot. The behind-the-scenes secret to dealing with the fear of commitment is in buying

      Addressing WGA validation issues
Earlier today (25 August) we began receiving reports of Windows Vista customers running genuine systems but experiencing failures when attempting a Windows Genuine Advantage validation.  This situation has since been resolved and validations are now being processed successfully.   We've since learned that very few customers were affected.  Sr. Product Manager Alex Kochis and a team of engineers have been working on the issue and has blogged about it to keep customers up-to-date.  Customers who received an incorrect validation response can fix their system by revalidating.  I'd encourage anyone who received a validation failure since Friday evening to visit this site now; after successfully revalidating, any affected system should be rebooted to ensure that genuine-only features are restored. Alex will be updating his blog with information as more information comes to light.

      Re-addressing the balance
Why I don't like missionary activity: I think I have opened myself up to misinterpretation. While it might appear that I only disagree with anti-missionaries such as 'Jews for Judaism' (sorry I forgot to express my views on 'Jews for Jesus' and other mission based groups) in reality I disagree with missionary groups even more. I would be more comfortable with Messianic Jews if they did not go out on missions. Why is this the case? Firstly, I dislike the idea of forcing beliefs 'down the throats' of those who do not want to hear. Secondly, minority groups feel insecure (i.e. Jews etc). Thirdly, they attack other religions and can cause tension between communities. Poster campaigns are fine. What I want is a peaceful society where Jews, Christians and Muslims can engage in dialogue without the fear of conversion. Conversion should be a choice. I know it might sound rather idealistic of me to say all this but that is how I am. I love all people (or at least I try to with the help

Addressing an earlier email about Starbucks and not supporting our troops.
Removed this posting after discovering that the headline "Starbucks is against the war-on-terror and is against supporting our troops" is false from several sources and that the rumor has been around since 2004. The rumor has been quoted incorrectly. The rumor also names Target and I had already know that that was false too. Here's the link for Starbuck's response and here's another link at another site.My Reply: I had just received this rumor in my MySpace Profile two days ago. When I read this rumor, it immediately got my attention, it also begged me to ask the question on the original posting, did Starbucks really say this or not, I would ask this question if I heard this on anything. Happy to hear that this rumor is false and it just another false rumor going around the internet.See Yeah!

Addressing the almost over-powering yin of an abortion clinic waiting room while my partner gets a pap smear among other things...
from a male doctor for the first time. The other man (a father?.. no) and I exchange a handful of eyes over the course of an hour and nearly a half and I want to shake his hand, speak openly and intimately here and now because he quite obviously seldom does and so do I and I think maybe here of all places would be a good place to start and maybe he feels something akin to that too and that’s why this is so awkward because we’ve never done it before or maybe he has but anyway we don’t and the rug is a hideously queasy pale blue and the curtains and cupboard doors are spackled and sponged a mix of teal and granite, very un-yin actually, and I think one of the plants may be real and Madonna of course looks nice atop the towers of shitty mothering magazines and it makes me really glad somewhere not very deep down at all and not really glad really that the date on the cheapo plasti-wood plaque from the better business bureau reads 2003 and the nurses here are so highly charged but somb
