Harmonix and Activision used to be best buds when they released Guitar Hero 1 and 2. Then something happened and they were no longer friends.  They went their seperate ways.
Activision moves forward with Guitar Hero III.
Harmonix decides to take the Guitar Hero experience to the next level by adding a microphone, drums, along with the ability to have a lead and rhythm/bass guitars with Rock Band.
However, Harmonix is only selling Rock Band with one guitar, one microphone, and one drum kit along with the game. They aren’t selling the intrument controllers seperately yet.  You can’t play the 4 player mode w/o a 2nd guitar.
The audience for both games is the same - and many of the PS3 owners already purchased Guitar Hero III and have a 2nd guitar. You would think that this guitar controller would work with Rock Band.  Not so.
Harmonix develops a patch for Rock Band that would allow compatibility with the Guitar Hero III guitar.

De una manera totalmente sorpresiva y que toma fuera de lugar a toda la industria de los videojuegos, los gigantes de Activision y Vivendi Games anuncia su fusión y la creación de una nueva compañía con el nombre de Activision Blizzard.

It seems a lot of confusion about what this merger means comes from the name. The actual merger is between Activision and Vivendi Games, the name Blizzard is simply being used in the new branding.
The merger won’t affect our development, just as having a parent company hasn’t affected our development when we were owned by Davidson & Associates before we even shipped our first Warcraft game. Or when we were then briefly purchased by Cendant, and then owned by Havas, then finally on to Vivendi. Activision has confirmed 17 more song tracks for Guitar Hero III (released later this month).
What is interesting is that all 17 tracks were included in the “leaked” complete track listing a few weeks ago. So while this list is not new info, it does make the leaked list look a bit more credible.
The other interesting thing is that there seems to be a lot of hubbub about the inclusion of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”. This has been brewing since the leaked list, but I didn’t feel like commenting until it was official.
While the violin, or more aptly fiddle, is the primary instrument used and mentioned in the song, it does have a lot of guitars. In fact, the Devil’s fiddle playing is an electric guitar and has a fairly decent solo during his part of the competition. Not long to wait now for Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare as Activision have announced that the 5th of November is when the game ships to shops, this means that just one week later on the 9th November is when we will actually get our hands on the game. Many PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers have already got exited knowing that they today in the U.S they will be able to try out the beta multiplayer game, while fans of the game in other counties will have to wait until September.
COD4 is expected to be a massive hit as at the recent E3 in July it received considerable acclaim, which is thanks to a lot of hard work from developer Infinity Ward. The reason for the game getting so much attention is due to how Call of Duty 4 uses limited graphical pallet and liquid animation, the game really has to be played for you to have any idea how great this new feature is.

That is the final box art for the next entry in the long running (and long winded) Tony Hawk franchise, Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground. Activision also confirmed with TeamXbox that there will be a single-player demo of THPG coming to the Xbox LIVE Arcade in the coming weeks.
Personally, I’m done with Tony Hawk. Have been for a while. But if you’re a fan of the franchise, or just love skateboarding in general… go for it.
