What is Acoustic Guitar?Historical and modern acoustic guitars are varied in their design and construction. Some of the most important varieties are the classical guitar (nylon-stringed), Steel-string acoustic guitar and lap steel guitar. All guitars produce sound through the mechanical vibration of strings. Acoustic guitars transmit the vibration of the string to the soundboard via the saddle and bridge. The combined resonance of the strings, saddle, bridge and soundboard are, in turn, "amplified" in the soundbox or body of the guitar. The soundboard has a larger surface area and thus displaces a larger volume of air, producing a much louder sound than the strings alone. The design and quality of the strings, saddle, bridge and soundboard have a major impact on the sound. One weak link in

By Kathy Unruh There seems to be a misconception floating around that starting your first lessons with an electric guitar is somehow more difficult than starting with an acoustic guitar. The opposite is actually more true. The neck of an electric guitar is longer and thinner than an acoustic guitar. The action (space between string and top of fretboard) is generally lower on an electric guitar also. As a result, less strength is required to push the strings down onto the fretboard, thus making it easier to play. The classical guitar would be next in line as far as ease of playing is concerned. This is because it has nylon strings which are more flexible than the wound steel strings of a dreadnaught acoustic guitar. The challenge with classical guitar, especially for those who have small hands, is playing a wider neck. So, when rating guitars from 1. being the easiest to play, and 3. being the most difficult, my opinion is:1. electric2. classical3. acoustic steel string (dreadnaught)Now, w

What makes the C.F. Martin History of Flight so special? No matter what it is, it can't be the cost of selling-my-organs-on-the-blackmarket special.
Only one made. Master Larry Robinson crafted the 18 pearl inlays. The acoustic has an Adirondack Spruce top. The rest is made with Brazilian Rosewood.

Ok so you play guitar or are looking to learn….but which guitar do you buy? It’s a question that guitarists the world over ponder time and time again.
Sure there’s the ever greens such as the Fender Stratocaster or the Gibson Les Paul and their inexpensive copies. But that’s a well trodden path - what you want is a little character a little something that makes you stand out - what you want is a hollow body semi acoustic.
Why a semi acoustic?
Ok for starters a Semi Acoustic looks the business. Take a look at a Gibson 335 with it’s smooth double cut away design and it’s elegant curves. When you step on the stage with a semi acoustic people notice. Take a look at a Strat or a Les Paul then take a look at a Semi - there’s a stark difference first off, semi’s are big but more importantly they are much lighter than their solidbody, comfortable to play and pack a punch in the sound department.
