Mumbai, May 13 (IANS) Veteran Bengali filmmaker Mrinal Sen, who turned 85 Tuesday, will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at the 10th Osian's-Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema, starting July 10 in the capital.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the American Film institute announced Thursday that the Academy Award-winning filmmaker and actor Warren Beatty would be honored as the 36th recipient of its life-achievement award.Warren Beatty used two words to describe his reaction at learning he would receive the American Film Institute's career honor: "Concealed weepiness."Beatty, 70, said he was told about the honor while heading with wife Annette Bening to an AFI anniversary lunch.Beatty told The Associated Press before the lunch that "It's a very good feeling. It's always nice to be accepted," . "I'm very happy to be part of and am actually quite proud to be a member of the film community."The AFI award will be presented next June 12 2008.Beatty also won the best-director Oscar for 1981's "Reds," which also earned him a best-actor nomination.
