      British academics discuss Britney’s tears
We’re fascinated by Britney’s meltdown, Lindsay’s drink and drug arrests, Amy’s rehab struggles. Should that make us uncomfortable? Do the media and the public like giving women a hard time? Some academics think we do, and dozens of them met to discuss society’s fascination with what they termed “train-wreck” female celebrities such as Britney Spears, Lind

Academics Discuss California Same-Sex Marriage Case
I have compiled a list of articles by academics on the California same-sex marriage case; most of them appear at Findlaw's Writ. I have listed them here in chronological order, which may be useful if you are going to read them all, as many reference the previous articles. If you don't have time to read them all, I would suggest reading at least the last three - the two Grossman and McClain

Turkey Ideal Mediator Say Israel Academics
This blog has been arguing for several months of the necessity of engaging Turkey in the Palestinian-Israel conflict and the Syrian dispute with Israel. Once shunned by academics, Wikipedia now a teaching tool
Wikipedia, the upstart Internet encyclopedia that most universities forbid students to use, has suddenly become a teaching tool for professors. Recently, university teachers have swapped student term papers for assignments to write entries for the free online encyclopedia. Wikipedia is an "open-source" web site, which means that entries can be started or edited by anyone in the world with an Internet connection.

A Humorous Aside: This Video Explains Why Students are Flocking to Us & Academics Just Don't Get It!!!
The video included in this posting explains why students the world over are flocking to our service and the service of other custom writing and research companies. Academic professors and instructors just don't get it! They can't seem to understand how to connect to students in this environment and certainly not to international students who look at professors like this and just go blank--glassy eyed like stunned sheep in a car's headlights! The guy puts me to sleep long before I even know what he's talking about. Today's students move at a million miles an hour and instruction and classroom presentation must adapt or die--unfortunately it's largely dying. Professors like this and most academics make the process of writing and researching such a dry and vapid

      Academics and Education
Dana wrote a bit ago about an article on how Americans are “not as interested in academic standards as some might suppose”. She feels that we don’t take academics are seriously as some might think we should because “Academics does not equal education.” While academics are important to education, they are not the whole of it. There is much more than just learning how to multiply and divide in a solid education. Education is a method whereby one acquires a higher grade of prejudices. - Laurence J. Peter To me it seems that many people must feel the same way. It certainly explains the constant “what about socialization?” questions thrown at homschooling families. It is obvious that most have the academics down, but there is more than just test scores to a child’s education. Yet I wonder if some parents feel that academics are at the bottom rung of the ladder, from not as important to not important at all. (more…)

Poor Academics Result from Poor Sleep
This may sound like a broken record but again poor observance of the required number of hours of sleep will lead toward deteriorating health bodies as well as poor grades for students who fail to achieve the standard 8 to 10 hours of sleep everyday. This even usually stems from the fact that some students forego the essence of sleeping, feeling they have enough to spare. While they may be up and about, abusing the needed rest of the human mind may not be all that comforting. The academic performance will show and attest to this once students fail to address the situation, largely due to their self-belief that they want to exhaust their time being awake to the max. Leverage Student Feedback to Improve Academics
In Quality Counts 2007 From Cradle to Career, Education Week, it was reported that a consistent lack of communication contributes to students becoming lost and not succeeding in public elementary and secondary education. Whether a purchase is done online or in a store, chances are after the sale an opportunity arises to take one type of customer survey or another, because the company making the purchased product wants to understand the rationale behind the purchase and learn about customer satisfaction. Nowadays, businesses make a concerted effort to learn about their customers. In contrast, the business of public education does little to pinpoint the teaching methods that support behaviors and cognitive processes to help customers, the students, learn. I'm not advocating more or different tests to examine what content students learn, however; I am pointing out the necessity of identifying what classroom activities/methods produce the most effective learning environment for new c
